I have never hit a woman and don't think I ever will. However, to play devil's advocate, considering the equal rights amendment, why should hitting a woman be considered differently than hitting a man? I am not advocating any type of spousal abuse or violence in gerneral but I question why "equal rights" maintains a privileged status for women (although be it a privileged status I happily grant them). And in light of that status, how can they truely be considered "equal"?

this is kind of a lame example as to why men shouldn't hit women, but on celebrity boxing when they had joanni "chyna" lauer vs joey budafuco (i doubt i spelled any of that right), she got her ass whipped. she is not a small woman, but the fact remains that women's strength is in their legs and men's strength is in the upper body. i also think the higher level of testosterone in men helps pump them up in physical situations. so, although you could have a large powerful woman going against a fat out of shape guy she'd still be at a disadvantage. maybe if she was an actual trained fighter she would have done better. maybe she thought he'd stomp the mat just before he hit her to make it sound like she was getting hit.

What Equal Rights Amendment? It was never passed and is not a part of our Constitution.

But a woman should never hit a man, either. There's no legal difference.

I did not know that, honestly. I guess I should have just said the equal rights "movement". It has always been framed as a "victory" or "liberation" and I guess I assumed it was. ( stupid me)
