The part you don't see is the thousand or so spent to get to that point.... plus the hundreds of dollars in the trash bin from learning....

I know personally I have invested in the thousands and have not recovered even half of what I've put in.... however a lot of it is learning... and you can't beat seeing your own creations coming out in plastic or rubber form.

That works out to about $10 per figure. Very fair for figures from a silicon mold. I'd buy a set but I don't like hard plastic figures. If they were rubber, I'd buy a set.

Exactly, especially when the originals are nearly impossible to get 10 bucks is very reasonable.

I wonder if csmhoff still has the molds and if they are still good. I'd cut him in on profit if he let me cast some in rubber. :notme:

$250 is a lot of money, and I don't see why everybody is jumping Stront's shit over his observation... These obviously aren't for him, then...

As somebody that has worked with molding, and knows all too well, about the difficulties of casting... I can also attest to the sentiment that it's hard, and $10 a pop being fair.

Getting custom figures is expensive. It's expensive for a reason, but still, it's not like popping fifty cents into a gumball machine.

I'm not disputing it's expensive, but they originally went for about $130, which is barely half of $250. It was more a comment on how the price of facsimiles has appreciated than anything else.

I mean, it makes some sense... People making toys, want to be compensated for their time, and effort... Tehy want the hobby to be self sustaining. I get it.
There's also an undercurrent of customizer over appreciate what they are offering, especially considering that a majority are just using preexisting figures as their subject matter. Demand also plays a factor, but, I still don't see why anybody'd want to piss down your leg over that.

I'd probably pay $10 for a harder plastic egg gripper (plastic, not resin), but if I were buying a full set, I would definitely expect a nicer price point, if I had to purchase the whole set.

Personally, I would want to price figures to sell, and try to profit off of sheer volume, but that is just my opinion.

I agree totally that higher quantity with a lower price is ideal but lots of people just don't have the time or initial funds to produce decent numbers of a figure.

I am in that same boat at the moment. Looks like i'll be getting between 15 and 20 of my thing made with a total cost between 150-200(materials, packaging, molding, casting, shipping materials). So selling at even 10 bucks a pop and selling out would break even.

I would love to make 100 and sell cheap since cost goes way down with more figures produced but i don't even know if i could sell 10 and i can't invest in 100 of them now anyway.

Then the question is if they are popular and sell and i make more do i lower the price? Wouldn't that suck for all the early buyers? Why should they pay more for supporting me early on?

I am rather confused by it honestly. I hate when i see a custom figure i love but it's beyond a price range i would pay. I don't want to do that. But at the same time anything less then charging like 15 bucks and i'd be PAYING money for people to take my work. Breaking even i could live with but not paying out of pocket at the end of the day.

Annnd none of that was on topic anymore but whatever :bunny:

I knew these guys originally sold for $130 for a set but honestly I'm not surprised to pay $250 for a set of these.
They're flesh coloured which is just awesome.
I think the detail shows up great in that colour, as with GPK cheap toys, Muscle and even OMFG.
Secondly, they're a harder plastic which I prefer.
Thirdly, I'm not battling people on eBay for some of the ridiculous prices the harder figures tend to go for, originals yeah but I just like the figures themselves.
Here, I get the set in one foul swoop. I pay shipping only once.
I woudve bought them from here originally had I have seen them time too, but I'm not surprised I missed them. I usually do.
currently I have maybe 7 original BEB figures, all rubber except one harder plastic which is broken a bit.
It's taken me ages just to get these figures, and it bugs me not to at least have a set. Well, it did until I bought this set.
I have a fair idea of how much time & effort goes into reproducing these guys so I see it as money well spent, expensive or not.
