I keep hearing he's not rare, and that he can be found pretty easily if you just look.

well, I don't yet have one, but I see some established collectors are still buying 'em.

Are you buying them for yourself?, are you buying them to resell at a higher price?

I'm just wondering, and hey, you're entitled to do what you want with them, it's your money, but I just don't see the point in having more than a couple.

How many do you have?, and are any of them available for sale?

just curious.

I have only one, bought from arforbes (one or two year ago) on eBay,
and I'm still hunting this figure at a reasonable price...
not for resell purpose, only for collections.

In the past few weeks SC popped up on eBay two or three times with 'Buy Now' option at $60 or so,
right now there is this auction -> click me but it starts at $50, way too much

and another has ended two days ago closed by the seller, probably has received a huge offer because the auction started at $1.99

I have two; neither for sale.

Many people buy them to resale as people will often pay up to $60 (if not more) for them :pardon: . I got one on ebay that cost me about a dollar since I bought a lot of 20 or so for $20 or so. The other I got at a local thrift store and it cost me 5ยข as I got about 40 of them for $2---there's a thread on that find somewhere in here.

If you haven't looked at the SC sightings thread, check it out to see the fluctuations in prices over the years--there's also Veers analysis in a past thread & on his MUSCLE website here: http://rare-muscle-s...od.com/id4.html

If you're patient, and scour big lots on ebay for an unannounced SC, you should be able to score one fairly cheaply. In addition, if you enjoy it, go to any collectibles shows, toy shows, yard sales, etc, and that should increase your chances as well (although I wouldn't suggest doing it just to look for SC).

I got fortunate like Gilgar and snagged a fresh buy it now auction with one in it. It was a lot of 45 figs for like 45$ dollars. He is pretty common, I mean he's on eBay just about once a week. There are poster figs that I only have one of. I still don't see why he's so expensive. It's one of those stupid things no one here will understand. I don't think you will see a veteran collector pay full price for one, but they will gladly sell them to newb collectors who think they are rare for outrageous prices, and I think that has a major affect on his value. Personally I think if all the Muscle sites were to just say he is common and that you shouldn't pay anymore for him than a regular muscle, newbs might not fight over them as much and prices would come down. I'm currently trying to get another one for my second flesh set. I hate how his value keeps rising. And that stupid toyfare article didn't help either. :D

I think SC is expensive not because he is that rare but because he's totally hyped up and thus, popular. This thread alone is Satan Cross hype. If I were a total newbie, I'd see this thread and I'd be all like "Yo, WHO is this 'Satan Cross' and why is he so damn cool??! I WANT ONE!!!"
That's it. Plain and simple. Magic beans.
and I still don't got one.
arrrgh.

that's exactly it, the perception of rarity has greatly affected his value.

there's nothing indicating to me that he's actually rare, aside from the fact that he's not on the poster, and that I don't yet have one.

this isn't me Boo-Hooing that fact, I know if I remain dedicated to collecting, I will eventually luck out, but I do hate the fact that people are treating him like pink gold.

I don't want it GIVEN to me, but I do want a fair deal on one, I'm not as big-time a collector as say, Jon or Alex or Doc. But I do collect, and have been here for a while now (even despite my long 'away' period).

I think you hit the nail on the head Universal Ruler... When I got mine (and only) Satan Cross was still *fairly* easy to buy and I won mine in a lot of 20 figures for about $25. Obviously someone else was watching that auction as well. But afterwards I saw him fairly frequently. However, there was one auction many years ago in which Satan Cross was offered with a BIN of $50. Someone bought it at that (IMO) outrageous price and that's been the benchmark rate ever since.

So really with SC, you aren't paying so much for the rarity, but for the ability to say you have the M.U.S.C.L.E. figure. I also think that this has affected the price of the Kinkeshi versions as well, I don't think he was rare overseas, but if you look at the YJP auctions he typically demands a higher price than other figures.

I have two, and like gilgar, neither are for sale. I wanted one for my all-pink collection, and one for display/play purposes.

I agree that a lot of its value is inflated because of the "Satan Cross hype", but then again, the same could be said about vintage Boba Fett. Personally, I think he's one of the cooler MUSCLEs, regardless of whether or not he's on the poster.

Well, I have the MUSCLE version and the Kinkeshi version of Satan Cross, and to be honest, my life is a lot better now that I have them.

I am healthier, and have chicks approaching me all the time now. I'm never sad anymore either! It has been a total life-changing event. Sometimes, thanks to Satan Cross, I can even read peoples' minds. I also recently got a raise from my boss, which I totally attribute to owning a Satan Cross.

You have to get them from a sealed garbage can and smother them in Monster Flesh and/or Living Ice.

I have one for my personal collection, and I think I have another floating around. Personally, unless it was on eBay in an auction, I would feel guilty selling one for $60. However, if it was bid up in an auction, then I would have no qualms selling him to someone for $$$.

Personally, I think that if you guys want to dump some serious $$$ on a SC, you should go for a Kinkeshi version. He comes with the back half and his Kewl factor is much, much more in eraser rubber. Even better, try for the Part 24 or Part 29 versions. Now THOSE freakin ROCK!

And if you REALLY want to spend some bling on the "hands down" best Satan Cross sculpt of all, go for the Part 91-3 version (like is in the AKIA 3 pack). An original will run you over $200, but you can get TGB to make you a repro for $30 or so. (I would ask for a flexi plastic, since IMO the hard acryllic ones suck)

But... If you really must have a MUSCLE SC, try to bide your time and get him for $20 or less.

I've seen all the different versions of SC, and I prefer the Muscle Sculpt one.

but I wouldn't mind a Kinkeshi one, if I could find it....it's just......I don't know enough Japanese to find one on YJ, and I ain't gonna pay what Americans want for him on ebay.

I'm with you Jon, I ain't gonna sweat it if I can't get one right away, sooner or later I'll score one in a lot.

Oddly enough I am in fact getting a GodBeast glow in the dark SC - my money's on its way to him as I type! If I can't have a real one I can at least have one that's even cooler. (though SC is just part of my GB order, I had him make me several versions of #15 as well)
Still, the real deal is sort of essential, so...still I await the day that SC appears in a lot with a good BIN price in hopes that I'll see it first.

I for one am glad we got Muscle here and not kinnikuman. I'd hate to have to spend over $100 bucks for figures to complete a kinkeshi collection. I just hope that SC's price comes down.

I've gotten fairly lucky on the Kinnikuman SC sculpts, I paid around $25 each for the 24 in flesh and the 21 (US release) in Orange. And about $5-$10 bucks for the SC in flesh from part 22. The only one that was real expensive was the one from Pt 29, and luckily I got a deal on him from Johnny.

I do think that pt 29 is my favorite sculpt overall. I like the 91-3 version, but that whole seems a bit more cartoony.

I have one satan cross, I recently had two of them, but sold all my extra muscles to arforbes. I gave him about 450 muscles for ~$210 (what I got after paypal/shipping). So you could say I threw in the satan cross for free. Satan cross is certainly not rare, I am much more proud of my light blue #23 or purple #153 than I am of satan cross. But I am more proud of my satan cross than any of the other flesh figures, because he is harder to get due to the increased demand for him. I scored my first one in a lot that didn't have a picture; the lot had the flesh poster in it too, got it for ~$25, one of the best deals I ever got.

I actually had more trouble tracking down a pink #195 (Spinning top Sunshine) than getting a Satan Cross. I could just never seem to score one of them. I think I eventually got someone to trade me there's for a couple of colored figures

I still don't have a Satan Cross. I'll admit, my interest in him is partly because of his status, but I also like the gladiator look he's got, kinda like that character from Mortal Kombat, and his weapons. I'm never going to get one simply because I don't buy MUSCLE lots on eBay and won't pay the ridiculous prices for a single one.

I've got 3 originals, all have repro asses now.
My first SC was in a lot of mixed toys,it averaged out to about $2.00.
My 2nd in a M.U.S.C.L.E. lot of 65 pcs,a little more than a buck for an SC.
My 3rd in a big M.U.S.C.L.E. lot,averaged it at about 50 cents.
Hopefully my forth can be under a quarter. .
Nope,none fer sale.....................................yet.

Back about a year ago, there were poping up on bay very often,
to the point I would of considered him uncommon, heck I've got
around some 40-50pcs that only myself have,or 2 to 3 exist,
I consider them rarer than SC's.

'On Sale' or 'For Sale'. It's really the same thing! The word, 'Sale' means YOU CAN BUY IT,
not that it is discounted. We as consumers are conditioned to think"On Sale"means it's cheaper.
