The question for this tournament is, "Which is the overall better figure?"

Note: This tournament features many different types of figures, please consider the entirety of a figure (sculpt, detailing, materials, originality, etc.) when voting. Additionally we ask for understanding with the lack of consistent pictures. Do not dismiss a figure because of a poor picture. Please feel free to post a better picture of the figure you selected.

Not being a fan of either GPKs or SDBBs i went solely with which one i would rather own. I voted for Brett Sweat - He has some nice qualities like his super steroid enhanced M.U.S.C.L.E.S. (sorry, muscles - force of habit ;) ) and those tight speedos. He is a cool little dude. I really wish i could get some hands on experience of the GPKs i feel i would appreciate them much better.

The SDBB on the other hand :D i have no notion to own these. The head seems ok, the arms again are ok but the bottom half is just all squaashed up. Perhaps if they did not have the rub stickers and the legs were not fused into one big mash up and were more detailed. I dunno they are just not my cup of tea, whereas GPK could be a line i could learn to love.

Brett Sweat is not represented by a good picture. He looks weird in the picture, but is a pretty cool figure in person. I have him in Green and he looks pretty cool. I don't know how much further this figure could possibly go, but he's definitely getting past this round.

I will admit that I think the Sabresword Tiger is probably the nicest of the SDBB's. With a different match-up, I might have even voted for him.

My vote goes to Brett Sweat.

My friend, I was like you once. I decided to give GPK a chance on a lark, and picked up a Brett Sweat, as he was my favorite sculpt after I gave the line a cursory glance.

Once I received him, I'm sorry to say that whatever may be aesthetically pleasing about the figure from a frontal view completely disappears when you hold the thing in your hand. It's a flat tiny thing. This GPK figure has no body whatsoever; if you look at it from any angle other than straight-on, it looks like crap, like a cardboard stick figure.

I can fairly say from seeing Brett Sweat in-person that I'm not a fan of the figure at all.

I keep voting for SDBB, even though I don't like 'em enough to own!

Haha, and then i myself ended up with this very same unlikeable Brett Sweat figure. ;)

My vote goes for Sabresword Tiger on this one, the better of two bland figures.

I think most people are in agreement that, as a toy, GPK's suck. I think most people would also agree, as a collectible, GPK's are pretty cool.

Having said that, does the "flatness" matter mimoman? I agree that he's weirdly flat, but I don't really think it takes away from him. As a collectible he's most likely going to sit on a shelf/desk/etc. so most people will view him straightaway.

This sounds a bit weird, but I think the oddness of the GPK's add to their collectability. And his odd "flatness" is part of the charm.

My poor GPKs are taking a drubbing.

:shok:

It really just goes to show that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But, having said that, I think in many cases, one can make a good argument as to why a certain toy sculpt is superior to another. As has been well stated, series one Cheap Toy sculpts are quite lacking. Even so, I look at the following picture and my heart gets all warm and fuzzy.

Really, though, it's the plastic type. As I said earlier, I've handled hundreds of mini-figures. Imho, there isn't another plastic type or color that holds a candle to Neon Red-Orange Cheap Toys. Only Orange and Neon Green Cheap Toys comes close. But this all subjective as well, as Jkaris owns an Orange Cheap Toy and thinks it's shizznit!

Ive got a soft spot for bodybuilding figures (seeing as they are fairly rare). GPK receives a vote from me

Although...for a SD figure....Sabretooth isnt bad. For a SD.

Divide & conquer works because of attachments people make to push-button issues, individual "leaders," parties, clans, tribes, policies, or agendas, leaving them open to manipulation.

I went with the GPK this time. Neither figure really struck my fancy on this outing, though.

huh.. you know, when i first saw the gpk cheap toys on nicodemus' page and in soupie's collection pics i thought they were pretty cool. but the more i see them going up against basically mediocre competition i realize that i don't like the figures like i once loved the cards. sabresword tiger gets my vote.

Oh if someone were truly on the fence i think these photos would have convinced them. The 3rd or 4th pic over really brings out the detail far more than the red. Excellent shots ! It already received my vote though ...

I have only owned a small handful of GPK toys and I traded them off or sold them. The only one I semi regretted getting rid of was this guy right here so he gets my vote. He was the coolest of the few I had and Veers is right this picture does not do him justice.
