When the LRG tournaments started Doc Moore J was one of the first, if not the first, person to suggest a tournament based on Star Wars' Galactic Heroes. The success of that line has spawned several other versions of the line, with GI Joe, Marvel, Transformers, and even Toy Story getting the stylized treatment.

Now it's time for these figures to battle to the death. We're starting the 4th official LRG tournament. The figures have been selected and seeded based on administrator discussions. The number of figures from each line was also based on the representative proportion of tournament spots and number of available figures, which is why Toy Story has 2 entries and Star Wars has the most entries.

Each morning I'll try and list a new game. The board will be given ~24 hours to vote for the winner.

The question for this tournament is, "Which is the overall better figure?"

Note: This tournament features many different types of figures, please consider the entirety of a figure (sculpt, detailing, materials, originality, etc.) when voting. Additionally we ask for understanding with the lack of consistent pictures. Do not dismiss a figure because of a poor picture. Please feel free to post a better picture of the figure you selected.

Also, it was kind of a pain to cite each piture so I'll just do it now:

I didn't even really know there was a Toy Story line. Rex isn't just a cool Toy Story figure, he's an awesome figure - period.

I'm not a big fan of the Rex figure, but there is just nothing interesting happening with Red Skull. The costume is boring, the Skull doesn't really have any character... just a bore of a figure. So I voted for Rex.

I'm not a big fan of the Rex figure,

Really? To me it captured the look of the Rex from the movie, but found a way to add just a bit more fun to it. Plus I can see a kid never putting this figure down.

Rex looks great, I agree kids would play the crap out of this figure. The only thing interesting going for Skull is his little Cosmic Cube, but other than that he is bland as a turd. Anway, what kid would be interested in playing with a creepy Nazi anyway?

That Rex figure is pretty cool, and i almost bought it once. What held me back was that the Toy Story figures in this line aren't really redesigned in any way to fit in. They're just smaller. For the most part, the proportions are exactly the same to the big figures.

I cannot believe that so far i am the only vote for a tiny precious Nazi. I cannot believe this figure ever got released, and while i would've preferred a uniform to the jumpsuit, and a Walther instead of the Cosmic Cube, i know why they had to go this direction. They hesitated a while to actually release this one as it was. Anyway, Red Skull gets my vote. Look how cute!

Veers, for some reason your credits list the TF figures as Adventure Heroes.

I was totally unprepared for this tourney starting, but I'm not complaining! The Heroes are some of my favorite toys on the market, even though I don't collect them all very often. I look forward to seeing which figures make it into the poll, and am eager to watch and see how much further the Adventure cobras get compared to anything else from the Indy line. :wallbash: Sad that TF selections are only based on the Seibs galleries, because that means no ROTF picks or the "cool, but currently unreleased in the US" Predaking.

I've never seen the Toy Box Heroes in person, which is sad because I really wanted that Rex figure. He's one of my favorite Toy Story characters, I love dinosaurs, and I coveted the toy upon which he's based as a tiny kid (Dino Riders/Smithsonian Tyrannosaurus). I also disagree about him remaining proportional, as his body is definitely shrunk down in size.

Red Skull is a hilarious SHS choice, even more than Deadpool or the Punisher, due to his roots. But this figure is so damn boring! Even the Cosmic Cube does nothing but reflect on how boring he is even more. I'd never want him wearing full Nazi regalia either, but give him a hat, a jacket, something! Maybe if he was up against something more boring than him... but not Rexie.

I do think it's a good representation of the character. I just don't like the character's design. He looks like a "nice guy" T-rex... a concept that takes away everything that's cool about T-rexes in the first place. Kids might like it if they're into the Barney-style of dinosaurs. I doubt I would have given it more than a passing glance when I was a kid, though.

Go Veers, its your birthday, not a holiday. I am so excited for this tournament, thanks so much in advance for putting it together. I voted Rex on this one. Even though I own the Red Skull one, I went with Rex, its just cooler IMO.

this choice wasn't as easy as i originally thought it would be. after studying the pics for some time, i went with the red skull. this has to be one of the weakest shs toys i've seen, but i still have some love for this nazi bastitch. like everyone else i wish he was wearing a different costume. i have an old captain america source book that has some clips of the early appearances of the red skull and in my favorite pic of him he's wearing a simple black suit and tie. that would have been an awesome choice for this sculpt. i didn't really feel anything for the little dino other than, "i bought a lousy happy meal and all i got was this?" just something about it thats plain and boring. i've never seen the toy story movies though, so without a personality to go along with the character it falls pretty flat.

i wish i had seen notice of this contest, i would love to have seen the doctor who time squad figures in this tournament instead of the toy story ones. at least my joes are well represented. anyone else think it would be badass if they made a motu line in this style?

...not really, but that's only because I have no particular interest in MOTU.

Doctor Who Time Squad would have been awesome contenders for this, or the Hellboy figures, but I'm okay with their exclusion since, as it is now, this contest sticks only to Hasbro products. Keeping the tournament that way where all of the styles and aesthetics are keep consistent by the same manufacturer helps this remain more like the MUSCLE and BB tournaments than the free-for-all last time.

See, I think Rex is very cool, but that Skull just has a crazy deranged look about him. Plus he has the damn Cosmic Cube. Cosmic Cube and crazy just don't mix. I voted Skull.

This in my opinion is just a by-product of the entirety of Toy Story's character design. I own most of Pixar's movies and have seen them all many times, except Toy Story which i watched once and Toy Story 2 which i never bothered to see. It's experimental "can we do this?" CGI coupled with characters based on bland and personality-free toys. So the toys that come out of that movie are just going to be bland, personality-free, and slightly less detailed. Like Tortle said earlier this Rex figure takes away most of what's cool about a T-Rex to begin with. I do like it alright, and i think it's one of the better Toy Story figures when limited to that pool, but it's still kinda boring.

Has no one seen Toy Story? Rex is a weenie :search: Red Skull would crush that cube right in is eye :vava:
I will at least agree the red skull is somewhat dull but it has potential. Put a different paint scheme and designs on the shirt and you got a pretty sweet figure B)
