Each morning I'll try and list a new game. The board will be given ~24 hours to vote for the winner.

The question for this tournament is, "Which is the overall better figure?"

Note: This tournament features many different types of figures, please consider the entirety of a figure (sculpt, detailing, materials, originality, etc.) when voting. Additionally we ask for understanding with the lack of consistent pictures. Do not dismiss a figure because of a poor picture. Please feel free to post a better picture of the figure you selected.

This is easy. Darth Maul's shiny black gloves and boots make him look like he just stepped out of an S&M/fetish club, but the figure is still way cooler than Belloq, who seems to be doing a feeble Liberace impression.

The Rene figure has a few pretty cool qualities to it. The huge Staff, the colorfull costume (especially compared to the other Jones figures), a cool turbin, a cool pendant thingy, and beautiful blue eyes just like Veersy :) .

All that said, I still had to go with Darth Maul. That particular Darth Maul figure is the sole reason I started collecting Galactic heroes, he was my first, and to this day still my favorite Galactic Hero. Sweet double ended saber just like the one Marty and his sister uses (except theirs is pink), cool little horn spikes on his head, very good paint application (as compared to some of the other GH's) his has a lot of detail, real fabric cloth sith robe, decent articulation compared to some of the other figures in this line (saber and arms), dude you can't get much better than this. The last three figures I voted for in this contest lost (Carnage, Blade, and Veers), so I really hope that trend ends now. Darth Maul is top notch.

My mom votes for Belloq and since she isn't a member I had to use my vote. I think we have another solid two figures today.

Honestly, I think both of these are great figures.

I think Darth Maul's greatest hurdle is that after the onslaught of Episode I propaganda, most people can't even look at Episode I stuff. Having said that, for a Galactic Hero-type figure this one has all the bells and whistles. It looks cute and looks like the character. It has a cool weapon and a playable pose (Granted it's slightly the GH-dump look, but for Maul it works. The open left hand could be force-pushing – no, not pushing a turd :) ). Even more surprising, he has cloth goods. I can't think of any other figure in the Hasbro line that sports cloth goods.

And how often to you get to see a figure like Belloq? This figure is clearly directed towards collectors, but I still think he makes a pretty good bad guy and toy. Belloq could easily join the GI Joe line as a villain, or maybe even Marvel's line. While the "brown" of the Indy figures has been the seeming downfall of the line, here it isn't a problem. I'm especially surprised at how well they pulled off the neck piece. It's colorful and jewel-like. It could have easily ended up looking like a robot's chest.

While I've heaped praise on Maul, I can't pass up the uniqueness of Belloq.

All your life has been spent in pursuit of archeological relics. Inside the Ark are treasures beyond your wildest aspirations. You want to see it opened as well as I. We are simply passing through history. This, this is history.

I like both of these figures a lot. And Belloq is a far superior villain to Darth Maul in my opinion. Maul, while still a cool over-the-top design, is representative to me of everything that went wrong with the prequels. Huge marketing hype, huge potential, thrown away without hesitation.

Still though....when it comes down to selecting one of these as the better standalone toy, i've gotta go with Maul. Belloq would really only be a good figure to own if you had every other character from Raiders.

I went with Darth Maul. I was going to go with Belloq first, but his face just creeps me out. Maybe it's the huge blue eyes
