Looks like some of the German War machines that never made it production.Philly and halfaway's cool custom Sunshines caused this odd idea to sprout in my head. I call it "Sunshine Tank"

Thanks! I could create one if I had access to a 3D printer (which I don't). The other issue is that currently the bricks are part of the texturing and not the model itself. Unfortunately prototyping is way beyond my budget, so I can't see it happening soon. However if someone does have access to a 3D printer, I'd be happy to supply an STL file.
Looks really nice. I like it.
Thanks much!

And while still fairly expensive and in its infancy, desktop 3-D printing will soon be affordable and high-quality.

That is SICK! Seriously SICK!
Thanks, I think!

Actually your Prismen inspired another one:

Yeah, that's awesome! I don't think it should be more realistic. It's perfect! I think if Sunshine had turned into a tank of some kind, it would look just like this. His transformations were always simplistic, yet effective. biggrin.gif
Thanks! I was really thinking about the photorealism, lighting, etc. It can be very slow tweaking some of these attributes.
That's amazing work. How long have you been programming 3d for?
Thanks much! I've been doing it on and off for around 16 years, with some LARGE gaps in there. This is the only thing I've done in over a year or so.
That is incredible. Great job, mate!

Thanks! I've seen that. It's an exciting prospect, but still beyond my means at the current time. I've looked at prototypers, the lowest I've seen so far starts at $150 for a 3x3 inch sample.

The next proto will be made of a white ABS plastic, (the same plastic used for legos) What we do next if you want is just measure the size of the mattel blocks and zoom in on the block grid and make them bigger, and the space between them twice as big. I'm thinking the blocks themselves could be twice to three times bigger. So less bricks overall. I think this is the right way to go because I put a #15 next to it and compared blocks sizes. Plus I would scale it down a little bit (with attention to not make the head too small, because the head size is already there).. so scale it down to muscle dimensions and less bricks.. Imagine it fitting neatly into a 10 pack can with other muscles. I'll send you the proto and you'll totally know what to do. Good things are worth waiting for.. and your design is awesome.. I can't wait for it to be done! I'm getting a student discount on Rhino3d, and in the future we could pass files and ideas back and forth.Hey there, figured I'd let everyone know what's been going on with this. Well, Muscle Things, the awesome MUSCLE philanthropist that he is, offered to have a prototype of this made for casting. After some communication and a few changes to the model, the prototype was created. Unfortunately it's not quite ready for prime time, as it looks like the machine used could not handle the level of detail required. However, it's been a cool experience and I want to thank MT. Not sure what else, if anything is next.

plus, one last things is can you make the rollers go all the way to the edge on each side (so there is no empty space between the end of the roller and the side of the tank? or else liquid rubber will flow in there when molding.. thanks
It's just under 3 inches long front to back and just under 1&1/2 inches in width and height. Ya, I was thinking we could sand down and smooth out the parts that need to be glossy. That's also what they said at the shop.. to use fine sand paper. I have a feeling a second proto might also be good. Here are some more picsHow big is that? You could possibly smooth/sand down the areas that need to be glossy (like the rollers) and still have a workable master. Any chance of getting better pics?
also I just got your email Nyarlathotep, and thanks for the input. Ya we don't want to make the bricks too big that they don't look right. So, I just also compared a #107 and maybe 3x is too big. Whenever you are ready for it, I will send it to you and you will know what to do. Also, can you make the 3 side squares on each side a tad bigger. I appreciate your input, feel free to keep sharing all your ideas as we go. thanks take care

Oh, I'm sure I'll see it when you send it, but I'm curious how the Y/S*N*T came out.
