After the holiday weekend, which I wasn’t online, I came back to work and started reading all of the threads. Here in the Sandbox, Doc’s “Love” thread had been replied to. So I was reading it and kindermuscle made a crack about how everybody is nice here except for me. So I just chalked this up to another kid that didn’t like me because I couldn’t read their TERRIBLE typing.

So then I read the topic asking if #195 is rare, and noticed how Jkaris’s word was taken as gospel (Not that Johnny isn’t well informed, but I think people forget he is just one opinion). This got me thinking that certain members really have strong personas.

Jkaris = The expert
Tortle = Funny and rationale
Godbeast = The customizer
Arforbes = The excited one :blink:
Doc Moore J = The bio man
Wraith = The melancholy teen
General Veers = The a-hole

But I was wondering how I became the a-hole? Don’t get me wrong, I can live with the role. It’s just that in real life I’m not considered an a-hole at all. I am however considered someone who will say things that other people won’t.

So I was wondering, what have I done to make myself the a-hole?

I have some ideas, but I thought this might make for a good discussion.

Ahahaha, sorry to say this Veers, but it is your avatar. I thought you were an a-hole since the first second I saw it. Just teasing of course. It is one of the more disturbing though. I actually think you are pretty damn cool myself.

Nah it's got to be the patented Veer's long posts.

You are more willing then most to tell it like you see it. Some people don't like such candor.

Personally I like it when people lay it on the line. I hate all the beating around the bush and trying to be pc.

maybe a-hole means awsome hole. Now how you should take that I am not sure. :blink:

I'm not sure if everyone thinks you're an a-hole... but you do have a no-nonsense, "tell it like it is" style of posting. Personally, I enjoy reading your posts for that reason. Most of the time you're posting exactly what I'm thinking. "Stay on topic... Read the posts before you reply... etc..."

If that's what's generally considered being an a-hole, then you should be proud of your a-holeness. Wear it as a badge of honor, I say!

Your lack of tact.
Veers = straightforward talk.
You call people on things that no one else wants or cares to.

You are a genuine arse sometimes. But....if anyone here thinks you are really bad at all, I suggest visiting a few other boards, to see what a true "arse hole moderator" is really like.

I like you, and I think your no nonsense style, makes you the perfect uber-moderator for the Sandbox, the hardest type of forum to run on any message board.

Keep up the good work. (no sarcasm intended)

Well this has been interesting so far, but none of the responses have really cleared anything up. I figured Doc, Johnny, and Nate would say people didn’t like my straightforward nature. Adamantiumwulf made an interesting remark with maybe people dislike my long posts. And I was pretty sure kinder would make an almost completely unreadable post. But overall I would have hoped more people that I don’t have really good relationship with would have weighed in on the topic, but it’s still early.

Thanks for the kind words, I REALLY wasn’t fishing for any. I was hoping this wouldn’t turn into a “I really love this board” thread, not that there’s anything wrong with those I’ve done them before, but that really wasn’t my intention.

Anyway, it has been interesting so far. And I guess I’m not really that big of an a-hole in peoples’ eyes. Except for the completely unreadable group, I guess they’ll nerver lirk mer vary mooch. Merbye i shud have mad irt a poll.

one of my best friends has the same kind of tact and attitude that it seems Veers has. he just has no way of letting people down easy or sugar coating things. for instance, he will tell someone "you look fat in those jeans." or "man that is a huge zit." etc.
and he never does those things to be mean, he is just letting you know an honest opinion. but when you first get to know him you think, "what a rude a-hole!" "how come he is so mean?" etc.
so to me it makes perfect sense that in Veers personal life he is not known as an a-hole. much like my friend is not known as an a-hole by our friends. but it is those people that dont really know him (like other people on a message board with Veers) or people that he is meeting/hanging out with for the first time etc. that think he is an a-hole. once you get to know him, you find that he isnt saying anything to be rude, he is just telling it like it is. i find that i cherish this kind of attitude and know that i can always go to him when i want the absolute truth, no bullcrap. and other people we know have learned the same thing.
and that seems to be the case with Veers. personally, i have never thought of him as an a-hole becasue I am used to that kind of candor.

on a side note, imagine how different people would feel about him if he changed his avatar to like a cuddly Care Bear or a plate of cookies or something...... great now i'm hungry.

for a Care Bear burger!! :wacko:

Veers is one cool cat in my book!
As a matter of fact, I think everybody on the Akia boards are pretty cool.
I think Veers was funny to post what he thinks of people, jkaris= expert

I don't think veers is an ahole. I've done a few transactions with him and talked with him outside of the main posting area. I like his straight-forward nature. I think it makes for lots of laughs and you never have to think twice about what he's "really" thinking.

Sorry, I’ll try and “get lower”. I hate when I’m too high, I tend to eat too much and not be able to stop laughing when I’m too high. Seriously.

And I really make an effort to let people clog up the board with personal arguments.

Can you translate that into english for us please?
What do you mean by "you go too high"?

On a side note. When I came on this morning, I saw the thread "Veers, what an a-hole" and that one of the "kiddies" was the last poster. I breathed easier when I saw that Veers started this topic himself. I thought one of our youngins had decided to rip him one, for whatever reason. Or even worse, a poll... Hahahaha.

Hmm, that give me an idea...
