How did I get it (How did I get 2 of them?!)?! Ok, to make short the long story. My father was cleaning the basement of his house and he found a box full with some of my old toys & for my sorprise... 2 Empty - NESTLE M.U.S.C.L.E. Pack tubes! :woot:

They are not in perfect condition, but they are a great example of the School Promo (check the pictures).

By the way, in case someone tries to offer Peter money in hopes of it not going to auction, sorry, I took care of that already.   This will go to auction, and it's going to run its course.

Nope, just making sure someone gets full value.  :)  I had the chance to buy it outright.  He gave me a chance to make him an offer.  I didn't because seeing that I've never seen one run its full course I told him to auction it to get its full value.  The auction will be pretty neat.  I talked to him yesterday, and gave him an idea to add to the auction.  We'll see if he does.  Look for the auction to start some time on the 6th, and probably end on the weekend I'm guessing.  Gave him instructions about the anti sniper and adding time if someone bids within last 5 minutes, and gave him the normal rules that are posted.

Are there really that many people interested in this to put it to auction? it is just a cardboard tube, not a toy.

With the offers I know he has received so far, the value is there.  Number of people?  Probably small, we'll see.

If getting full value is the main concern then this should be on ebay for sure. The only benefit to a board auction is that if someone really wants it here they can't get sniped like they they could on ebay. For the seller ebay is just a better option all around.

I would strongly suggest asking Jkaris to set up the auction on ebay through litterrubberguys with a small percentage going to board costs. He's done it before and that would bring a lot more attention/money then an auction here would.

Asking Jkaris has already been done.  The % going to the board is a great idea.  I'll message Peter.  Winner can work something out with Peter or Jkaris is another approach too.  IMO, LRG is the best route because I bet the top three bidders of it would come from this board.  Yes, Ebay has a greater reach, but for something like this that is so obvious where the few bidders for it are going to come from, LRG I think is the way to go.  Cut out Ebay from taking its profit.

What is EBay's usual % fee?

If the goal is doing something cool for the community then a board auction is easily the best idea. If the goal is maximum profit ebay is by far the best idea. All that matters is what the seller wants i suppose.

The ebay fee depends on a lot of things including how much the item sells for in the end.

First, jkaris told me that this thread should be posted in the MUSCLE section not in Got Toys section. Second, Walker was the first person that I contacted to offer this item and his advice was: auction it on LRG.

Yeah.

I don't see the benefit for the board with what you've proposed. If you're dodging eBay fees, fine, but let's not put lipstick on a pig.

I also don't appreciate getting emails off of the board, chiding me about the frequency I answer board PMs... Real talk.

Out of curiosity I have a couple of questions: What was originally in this tube back in the day? Is it likely that the winner will use it to store figures/a poster in, or just as part of their MUSCLE display? How does this tube compare to a Highway Hauler in terms of rarity? Will I ever find a SR in a cheap eBay UK lot and sell it for £1000?

I suggested to him to get with you, Jkaris, and Veers about how to run the auction and its value.  I wanted him to hear from more than just me about not seeing one for sale and to get more suggestions about how to run the auction to include the rules (sniper, time.....).  With something like this I didn't feel comfortable with being the only person that he should be getting answers from, especially because I know I'm a bidder.  That just didn't sit right with me.  I contacted you several days after I suggested that for him thinking maybe you were busy or something, and in no way what so ever did I mean to "chid you" for an answer.  I simply wanted him to hear more advice on a rare object and auction ideas than just mine, and I felt you three were the people to try to contact.
