Is MUSCLE a Guaranteed Burnout Hobby?

So my question is, “Are MUSCLE collector’s doomed to burnout from the beginning?”
With other hobbies or toy lines there are many paths to take. For instance, let’s take a look at Star Wars. There is vintage and new, carded and non-carded, prototypes, production art, non-toy items (i.e., soap, cereal, etc.), props, replicas, etc. Basically once you finish one area it is very easy to move on to another area of Star Wars. This is true with other toy lines too. GI Joe, He-Man, Lego, Playmobil, and many other large lines of toys.
Take a look at other hobbies too.
Sports – Cards, programs, give-away's, posters, endorsement items, etc.
Stamps – Domestic, foreign, sheets, singles, etc.
Coins – Domestic, foreign, material, denomination, etc.
With MUSCLE it is much more difficult to branch out. Especially if you only consider US MUSCLE items.
So again, “Are MUSCLE collector’s doomed to burnout from the beginning?”

I remained interested in MUSCLEs only because I started exploring other aspects of the hobby: colored figures, Kinkeshi, Romandos, and Ultimate Muscle. Many of the original old-schoolers who didn't expand into other areas are gone, like Darrin and Patrick Gresham.
So, yes... if you limit yourself to just collecting a flesh set, you'll lose interest quickly.

I mean, when a toy line is over, and ou have absolutely everything, maybe. But we all know no one can't have every single toy there is.
I mean, if the toys aren't in stores, half the fun (or frustraition) is looking for them online or something. so, if you have all of the MUSCLE and that's all of the MUSCLE/Kinnikuman/Ultimate Muscle/Ramenman universe you care about, you will burn out. I mean, I am really interrested in any G1 or G2 Japanese stuff, and my coillection is small (consists of 21 MUSCLES, UM 1-4 and most of the CCG figures) so I'm hungry for anything Kinnikuman related... even if it's just going down and finding a place that actually serves Gyu-don!
I'm going to agree with Max and Tortle here. it depens on the person. frankly, without UM/ Kinnikuman I could care less about these. The idea that it stems from an obscure Japanese cartoon show really sold me, and that's the reason I am here.

There are collectors, and there are MUSCLE heads.
For a collector, it really depends how they approach collecting. A completist will never burn out, because I don't think it's possible to find and obtain every figure in every possible color, in one lifetime. However, if you just want the flesh set, you're done after a relatively short time.

This sums it up best for me. I am a man obbsessed with M.U.S.C.L.E./Kinnikuman, and no matter how many figs I have (and I could always use more) burning out is not an option. To me, it is not about collecting them to complete a set. There will never be a sense of completion to my collection as long as there are M.U.S.C.L.E.s or Kinnikuman figures out there that I do not own. I literally want them ALL.There are collectors, and there are MUSCLE heads.
M.U.S.C.L.E. is a part of my every day life, has been since I was 5 years old, and will continue to be until I am a crotchety old man with a shizznitload of little guys from a long forgotten past.

However, if you are like me and are going for a complete colored set of every M.U.S.C.L.E., then you will never burn out because you will never get them all! Haha!

I still have yet to get 1 figure in every color, like everyone else!
Plus I have an undying interest in Super Rares.

Here’s my take. If you are just interested in MUSCLE, then you are likely to burnout. There’s just not enough stuff to keep you interested. Even if you try and get one figure in every color, or something like that, it appears that it is an unobtainable goal (from what we currently know). I’m still going for an unobtainable goal, like arforbes, and it is keeping me very interested. But I don’t think most people want to go down that road.
However if you get interested in Kinkeshi, then your collector options are plentiful.
Plus I want some Super Rare answers.

Heck, I've seen some collectors get so whacked out that they make crazy web sites totaly dedicated to muscles!! Can you believe it??? There's even a guy who makes this imaginary TV show staring two well know members of the G1 lineup. Have you ever heard of anything so.........bizarre??

I'm starting to worry about my OWN sanity lately!

I would buy more actually, but muscle isn't the only thing I collect, I also collect, spawn, homies, and occasionally gundam models. I think intrests in other things has probably helped me to keep my intrest in kinnikuman/muscle/UM.

It realy depends on why you collect the guys. Me, I just want my fave's because I like them. Since I don't usualy get burned out on what I like, then I'll be fine.
For me there's no real limit to my enjoyment of MUSCLEs.

I'll upload them as they were on my website... That one dissappeared some time ago, though. I never did get to test the larger figures(3-7") or giants(8-12+), nor the Magic.
For the current rules, though, they're not too bad. Any questions, just ask.
Edit: forgot to upload. D'ho!

Hey thanks man! my brother and sister and me all play games on a sunday night and i was thinking about incorporating a game involving muscles rather than orcs and goblins and space marines etc....I created a General Use Minature System once that worked very well with figures like MUSCLES.

When I wrote the small critters for GUMS, MageKnight had JUST come out, and a few people had 'em... and some people didn't care for the rules in themself. I wanted a minature system that was like GURPS and let you use any minature(like one of Steve Jackson's cancil'd games). Thus, I made the General Use Minature System to incorporate all those things, and other Action Figure type things.
Have fun, and don't forget to pick up a Zbots vehicle or two.
Also, any playtest data you want to take down(Vehicles too powerful, etc) please do-- the rules only got light testing of mabe ten or twelve plays.
And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

"PASSION" and not 'burnout"
Hell when i was a kid , playing with my original 30 figures , growing up in the outback at the arse end of the world , you would think i'd get brunt out from playing with them? NAH AH
if you have a passion for them as i do burnout is never an option.
