Yeah, went yesterday to TRU, still no dice. I guess Chicago is such a small city that they didn't bother to have a varied inventory. They did finally stock some GI joe stuff, for the past couple of months the aisle with the Joe tag had other random army toys but not a single GI Joe branded item, cept for 1 mech thing, and I don't mean 1 product, I mean 1 box. Man is that store run poorly.

I checked a Chicagoland TRU thinking I'd have luck, but no dice. :verymad:

Since you guys are looking, does that mean I can stop obsessively checking the only ToysRUs located in Chicago? :) I have some coworkers checking out other locations the west burbs, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't have a problem ordering online, but does anyone know why this is listed as $58 instead of $16????

When a toy company creates tiers of rarity and chase figures, I personally think there's a need for a guide to let people easily know which figures are commons, uncommons, and rares. oOMoSOo is just trying to help people out by selling them for shipping plus cost, and that's cool of him, and if he paints the figures I think they'd be worth more than $2. But not everyone is like him, look at the guy selling single non-exclusives on ebay for $3.50 each plus shipping. It is nice to have a guide so people can make better decisions about the prices they buy and sell figures for on the secondary market.

Also I can clearly and logically explain the prices I came up with. If you say my price guide is "false" then you're saying every price guide in the history of comics and action figures are "false", since they are all created by someone looking at the information and deciding.

The only real valid price guide right now is Ebay completed auctions. That's what people are actually paying for items.

The only point I agree with, is that knowing what the inherent price is, helps you keep from getting hosed by scalpers. The bottom line, at the end of all discussion is, a toy is only worth what you are willing to pay for it. I am not willing to pay for the price of the toy, plus shipping... They aren't worth THAT much to me... So I will wait.

As far as their sixty-six cent value... I mean, come on. Let's not be children about this.

As for the 'existence of price guides that have come before' argument... I mean, come on. Let's not be children about this.

Regardless of what you think about me compiling a price guide - I think everyone would agree (even the people who bought them) that one of those figures is not worth $2 when the 12 pack is giving the same figures at 83 cents each. I thought the whole point of having the mystery 1 packs with the elevated price (because this is the most expensive way you can possibly buy these figures at retail) was that they would be heavily salted with exclusives and chase figures.

The fact that they only put the 8 non-exclusive figures in the 1 packs, and made sure the 1 packs and the MUCH cheaper 12 packs ended up in different stores, I think lends credibility to the theory that this is a limited test release to see how the different packages varieties will do.

The one I checked was actually in a west burb (North Riverside). I looked when news first hit of these showing up at TRU and then I've looked again as recently as last week. At a handful of city and burb Walgreens as well. I am getting the sense these are nowhere in our area yet.

This has actually kind of increased my interest in the line (sometimes you want something more when it's not easily gotten), but it's also annoying as hell. :)

heading to toys r us to load up on whatever series 1they have left, and hopefully some series 2 stuff. plasticsoul i'll grab you series 2 since i haven't sent your package out yet, in case you do want them....i'm gonna get them either way so just let me know.

the price guide info that was posted here, i don't think anybody on here or anywhere else would realistically sell these "commons" for .66 each, i know i wouldn't want to sell individual figs for less than 2.50ish per fig. that's just my 2cents worth. i understand setting a price point to keep others from getting raked over the coals, but some folks understand to get what they want, yes they may have to pay more than what it cost originally.

also, these "price gouging" folks on ebay(myself included)are just tossing them up to test the waters.....and i have stated i will buy anybody any of these toys at cost plus shipping to just let me know.

i believe this toy line will work out the kinks and everything will be fine by wave 2. yes wave 1 was a cluster F'd mess, but i remain optimistic for the future waves.

I would be interested in buying 2 sets (1 for me and 1 for my son) if they still have them at your TRU. At this point it beats the amount of gas I will spend to keep going to stores here.

Okay, time for everyone to relax (and stop making price guides, haha).

I have it on good authority that Jakks is continuing this line with a big push. Have no fear that these will eventually start showing up!

I'm assuming George probably heard directly from someone involved with Jakks. Don't overpay for these. They will be coming to a store near you. Soonish.

Well put.

I'll keep making weekly stops into the toy store to check for these, and I am interested in how Jakks chooses to distribute them... But, let's be grown ups about it.

Good chance of that. He said earlier in the thread on OT that he bid on sculpting SLUGs and did a test figure for them last year.

I hope they at least hit stores in my area when wave 2 is out so I don't need to ask anyone to pick up the 3-packs for me.

No idea, the sculpts are fun and very dynamic. However I think George would've done better, being a sculptor myself I can see the main issues. These buggers were not cleaned up and refined well at all look at the King Guts sculpt, the back of the head where the scribed lines are they were rubbed off during polishing. Certain areas blend together when they shouldn't, when it is clear that the work was done very quickly on a tight deadline.
Granted yes they are zombies and you can get away with it, but having a few of george's pieces in hand I can say the detail would be much tighter.

Anywho that's my two cents, I do however love these figures and so do my fiance and son, great toys decent price and I can't wait for survivors to hit the shelves.

Interesting. So do we know who is doing the sculpting for the line?

He didn't say, other than that they went with a sculpting house that has more than 1 sculptor because they wanted to do so many figures for this line. I'm still looking forward to more Z.O.M.B.I.E. figures.

I want to see what kind of monsters they come up with for that SLUG line. I'm not a big aliens guy. I'll probably pass on those.

I would love series 2 bro!

I think ebay has a few effects on the toys. First of all people like me who randomly search for toys all the times get the benefit of finding stuff they wouldn't have ever seen otherwise. Even if they don't buy any from ebay it's still exposure for the line. The only pack i have right now i got from ebay for 9 bucks(a 3 pack)but i was happy to pay that since it had mike biteson in it and he is my favorite from series 1 and maybe from the entire line.

Secondly it's great for people in other countries who have no ability to pick them up and no advertising to even know they exist. The price is pretty unimportant. If someone can and will pay it then cool. If not then oh well. Personally i don't care about the price of anything that's under 4.57 since that is how much i pay for a gallon of gas just to get out of my freaking neighborhood these days.

I completely agree with this. I don't know when I would've found out about OMFG if it wasn't for JKaris putting some green sets on eBay and having "MUSCLE" in the listing. I didn't buy them on eBay, but I found the OT site and links to the exclusives and ordered flesh, yellow, green, and rotofugi blue that same day. Then that led to me signing up on the OT and LRG forum and finding out about other cool stuff that I'll never see in toy stores.

Interesting insight.

I would have to hold them in hand, to see if the quality of the sculpts was enough to turn me off.
Honestly though, I applaud that Jakks was audacious enough to try to crank out a new line of toys, so big, from scratch, so quickly. They probably have more time to spend on the subsequent monster and alien gimmicks, while they work on getting the SLUG Zombies onto shelves. I will be just as interested in seeing how the quality of the different concepts line up.

My King Guts figure looks fine, but not being a sculptor myself perhaps I lack the discerning eye for such things.

I too would like to know the names of the individual sculptors because I think they deserve credit for what looks to me a good job, and hopefully that George guy gets to do a few sculpts as well. Maybe S.L.U.G. can team up with O.M.F.G.

I'm not really a fan of the blind 1 packs, since we have seen with all the other blind packed figures like Lego that people cheat, and then after a few days of them being put out you have a bunch of picked over leftovers. If they are to continue doing blind one packs going forward, they should distribute them in vending machines because this will prevent cheating.

just a thought, would it be possible those few of us that had them in their toys r us stores were just a test "pre-release" to see how much interest was in that line, and that the wave 1 will now get a wide release to all toys r us stores? just wondering, because if the widespread distribution of them starts at wave 2, that'll leave alot of folks screwed on missing the wave one figures.....especially the more exclusive figures that collectors won't want to trade off

Don't worry, there will be more series 1. It costs a lot of money to make the sculpts and molds, so they would never just relegate 16 figures to a pre-release, it wouldn't be profitable.
