Like he went chest first down a heap of wookie shizznit.

Is that a spoiler?!?! If he does that in the movie you’re dead Johnny!!

I don’t think Chewie looks that great, but I don’t think he looks that bad either. I think he simply feel victim to being a wave 1 figure. He’s stuck with a stupid action feature, and what I’m sure Hasbro thought was an “extra detailed” paint job.

Star Wars essentially has a simple look. Whenever Hasbro tries too hard to add detail it comes off as pinheaded looking. These are the over painted figures I always think of:

Back & White Darth
Burn Victim Luke (look at his face)
Battle Droid Syndrome
I point this out because they do this anytime a figure comes “clean” and “dirty”. The paint is so random it look terrible on one figure, great on another, and on some it’s hard to tell if they’re the “really dirty” or “the kind of dirty version”.

I know they do a good job with paint sometimes, but these are the bad ones that stick out for me.

Here's a heads up on the possible next wave of Galactic Heroes.

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

These figures would be from Revenge of the Sith and are: Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku, Emperor Palpatine, and General Grievous. Link

Posted Image Posted Image

Nice, there's also a blurb about the possibilty of a new Yoda figure. Pardon my giddiness, I'm just really pleased with these new SW figures. Link

Posted Image

Here is one on eBay. Link

Damn, check out his other auctions. Is this stuff legit? Link

While your link didn’t work for me I’m sure you’re talking about powerjedi999 (or something like that). The prominent theory on this guy is that he works at Hasbro’s production plant. These figures are thought to be legit because they’re made at the factory, but he probably “keeps the machine on” to pump out a couple more figures.

As for the other Galactic Heroes stuff, I couldn’t be happier. I’ve loved this line since it first came out. I would be thrilled if it continued. I think now, more than ever, this line is ready for a playset. The Deathstar (which, in some way, incorporates the current Millennium Falcon), Jabba’s palace, or an Ewok village/Shield Generator playset would be great. I’d like a Hoth playset even more, but I think only one Hoth wave as been released.

I'm curious, simply because this line has caught my attention, as to how Hasbro decides when, and when not, to articulate a Galactic Hero figure. Are the articulated ones hold-over molds from the adventure sets? It doesn't appear as if any of the new figures will be articulated.

The eBay prototype seller's name is starfans888 if anyone is interested in checking out his stuff.

This is the first really clear picture I have seen of the Wookie warrior. :o

Doesn't he look like a walking tree? He needs to look more like a walking carpet. I’m not usually one for cutting corners or rehashing figures, but would it have filled them to at least be “inspired” by a Chewbacca figure? I don’t think I will be building a Wookie army with this figure. Army builders will be better off buying old Chewie’s and painting them.

I think the main problem is with the arms. I appreciate that they wanted to give the Wookiee more articulation, but they made no attempt to conceal the joints (much like the Saga Whipid).

The articulation and removable accessories would be great for army building, but I'm not sure I'd want an army of tree-limbed Wookiees.

I don't think that rehashing a Chewie figure would really work for this figure, though. Chewie is much thinner than the other Wookiees. I would prefer this questionable sculpt over a rehashed Chewie because the bulkier appearance distinguishes it from basic Chewies.

General Grievous looks awesome, though. Hopefully he has some good articulation. Ball jointed hips and shoulders, and hinged knees and elbows would be great.

I think it’s both the arms, and the “dreads” that are hanging down. They make him look more like a mutant Twi’lek than a Wookie. And I agree that Chewie appears to be much thinner, but perhaps they could have enlarged the body, head, arms, etc. in some way? I do have to concede that they tried to find a happy medium between playability and accuracy with this figure – but this tends to happen with Wave 1 figures. I hope we’ll see better Wookie warriors in the future.

I’ve also noticed something about my Star Wars collecting lately. It seems like the more accurate and detailed Hasbro attempts to be, the more fun they suck out of the figures. The lines I’m enjoying the most (Galactic Heroes, Jedi Force, Clone Wars Cartoon) don’t attempt to be flawless copies of the character. These other lines seem to be having fun with the figures, which seems to be – at least to me – contagious.

These lines don’t have 300 points of articulation, but I think Jedi Force and Galactic Heroes have great playability. I think Hasbro could really learn something from these other lines.

I’m not naïve enough to think Hasbro will ever do that. The majority of collectors want articulation and perfect character likeness. But as long as alternate Star Wars lines are offered, then I think I will always have SW toys to enjoy.

I think this is a common problem with toy collecting: some lines are getting so collector-specific that they're losing that "kid" aspect that makes toys fun and that lured the collectors into the hobby in the first place.

GalacticHunter.com posted some more ROTS figures:

Battle Droid: A figure that would be cool if we didn't have so many other versions of it. I dig the forest floor stand, though. Is this supposed to be representative of a Battle Droid on Kashyyk maybe?
Clone/Storm Trooper: Clearly one of the stars of the first wave. The articulation looks nice, but it has a "quick draw attack" that might screw it up.

The Galactic Heroes have been discussed here and in the toy reviews quite a bit lately. So I think a few people will be happy to see the next wave of figures.

While I love them all, I am especially blown away by the Gamorrean Guard. He just looks really cool! I can see why they are packaging him with the rather boring Jedi Luke. But, to play devil’s advocate, I can see why so people might not like this figure. While he is “smaller” he does look fairly accurate. Most of the other figures have a much more “stylized” look. Vader, the Scout Trooper, and even the Wampa.

I hope they continue to keep the figures “stylized” and don’t start to slip towards accuracy. But it’s such a fine line I can appreciate when they slip. I think the Bounty Hunter wave did the best job of walking that line.

I agree. I tend to prefer creature and alien figures anyhow, but, as you've said elsewhere, many of the human figures seem to share a similar mold.

The Jawa figure is my favorite of the bunch. The detail on all of them, however, is phenomenal! I'd like to know who the creative team behind this line is, and which other lines they've worked on.

Wow, they're really moving forward with the GH figures. I hope they're not done with the OT figures. I'd really to see a Rancor figure and another Ewok.

Beware, the following link reveals a mild spoiler.

In any case, here's a look at some ROTS figures due in April. Once again, they've hit a home run.

Truthfully, the GH assortments seem to be the stars of the ROTS toys. The normal 3 and 3/4" assortments look terribly boring. The first assortments has some new, interesting characters (namely, Grievous, his bodyguards, and the Clone Trooper), but the second assortment is very dull:

Second assortment (Mild costume design-related spoilers)

It just seems like every one of those characters we've already seen in plastic in virtually the same outfit, with one or two exceptions. The Threepio actually looks pretty sweet, though. Its proportions are more accurate to that of a real guy in a suit.

But really... are the Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, and Battle Droid figures really any different from the previous figures? :sosumi:

I'm with tortle. I already have 3 poses of plo koon, why would i need another? I like the royal guard though. I think I'd like to do a little evolution of them in figure form, kinda like I did with the clone troopers-storm troopers. But anyway...c'mon Hasbro! Excite me! :sosumi:

Force Battlers

Posted Image Posted Image

Powerjedi999 is back with the first ever look at the new line of 7" Force Battlers from Revenge of the Sith. This new line of figures looks like a cross between the Jedi Force figures and the Animated Clone Wars figures, with a little touch of POTJ Mega Action thrown in for good measure. Click on the thumbnails above to take a look.

The name is cheesy, but the style is sweet. I'm anxious to see some other figures.

Just a reminder: this Saturday, April 2nd, ROTS toys officially go on sale. Unfortunately, I'll be moving that day, so I might not be able to get to the stores until later. But the toys on my must-have list are:

Figures...
Any wookiees, like General Tarful and Wookiee Warrior
Specialized Clone Troopers like AT-TE Gunner, Clone Commander, and Jetpack Clone
Operating Table Vader
Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter
Threepio

Star Wars Trivial Pursuit (our old copy is getting worn out)

Episode 3 Graphic Novel (so that I can spoil every last thing about the movie before I see it)

I might also get an ARC 10 Starfighter. The more I see them in action, the more I like them.

Thanks, but I'm 100% confident that I'll be able to get the figures, so don't worry about it. I went to Midnight Madness for TPM toys, thinking that they would be hard to find, but the very next day I could find everything at all the stores. The same with AOTC, there were no shortages. If I was really concerned about finding the figures, I'd attend Midnight Madness somewhere. But thanks for offering.

Anyone else get an Episode III toy mailer from Target? Its a pretty big (8"x5" or so) thick and glossy card with a screenshot of Obi Wan and Anakin dueling on one side. On the other side, there's a coupon for $1 off each action figure purchased on Apr 2. Not too bad of an offer.

Unfortunately, there's no Target around my area, so I didn't get the flyer. Not a bad deal, though!

By the way, Rebelscum.com has a nice PDF checklist of everything that will be offered on April 2nd:

http://www.rebelscum...2-checklist.pdf

It looks like Operating Table Vader, Jetpack Clone, and Wookiee Warrior will be in a future assortment.

Also, Entertainment Earth has a listing for the Vader 500th Figure. Man, that looks sweet... much cooler than the old Complete Galaxy Vader.. I hope at least the top of his helmet is removable. But I just wish they would make a Vader Meditation Chamber playset that was closer to scale.
