TRU had the DD/IM/SS three pack but still haven't seen any of the others. I passed because I already have a Surfer figure I liked more, I don't collect Iron-Man (even when they look super sweet), and DareDevil has my least favorite body sculpt. Really want to find Spider-Man and friends.

HasbroToyShop is always swamped and often (but not always) has issues during SDCC because of its exclusives. Aside from then and Christmas, ordering from them really isn't that bad.

Unless you're desperate for a specific figure, you still shouldn't order though. Not with the kinds of errors and questionable quality of figures in the lines.

so it's finally come to this. i'm going to have to cut out other toy spending just to keep up with this line. DAMN YOU HASBRO!!! with the additions of variant thing and secret wars #2 today and the necessity of the 3-packs i'm getting a little light in the toy budget department.

as a little research, i let my little 3-year old nephew take a green and red hulk home for a few days to play with. when he returned today they were still in pretty good shape. he does not take good care of toys either. the fact that these heavy duty brutes lasted a few days with him is testament to the durability of these particular figures. i wouldn't let him take a green goblin or iron man though. i'm not that brave or crazy. those legs would be snapped in no time.

Ha! You are crazy Dan! :) When my 10month, 2, and 6 year old cousins come over to the house I go into red alert, and my room is completely off limits. :D I keep them occupied with real toys like sticks and boxes. ;) Of course the 6 year old prefers to go run outside throwing balls. I think I would panic if I walked in, and the youngest ones were teething on my Hulks. :(

Well, I got my BW cap in the mail today! Another top notch figure! Great paint apps, except as usual for all the caps thus far his upper arms aren't completely painted where they meet the shoulder balls. Very neat fgure...There was also a weird looking line on the shield, but I'm not sure if it was put there to make it look a tad icy or not. :spiteful:

awesome. doom will be super cool, if not an obvious choice.

i've been reading the secret wars i got with the first three sets. uh, did anyone else think they were better the first time? now that i've been going over that, i'm thinking i might need to go through all my old comics and see if my memory is playing games with me. either that, or comics have really progressed in the last 25 years.

A couple people asked me if I had an extra gold/red Modern Iron Man... I found a 2 tonight if anyone wants them, let me know. I will pick them up for you. They are at a game store where the toys never sell, so they should hang around safely for a little while. Price is $9.99. Drop me pm if you want one.

I can only reckon that comics were much simpler and less complex up till the late 80's. Marvel pretty much stayed in the goofy story era with the exception of a few comic series up till the early mid 90's....But I don't think stories really progressed till the late 90's....which is about when I stopped buying comics, and honestly I didn't care for the new art styles taking hold by then. The Liefeld/Mcfarlene era was already hard to deal with. Then Comics started feeling plasticy or something...started using really High quality gloss ink and paper around the late 90's it seemed. Just really got turned off by it.

But yeah Secret Wars was very juvenile even for it's time. I believe the writers were just trying to have fun with it. And it was obviously geared toward younger audiences at the time. We did have a Secret Wars toyline back then. They really are almost like really long insert comics anyways. Like MOTU mini comics.

Anyway, here's to to an Infinity Gauntlet/Crusade series. :p

my biggest gripe about them is the explanation of powers every other word bubble. effing-a, we're comic fans, we already know what they can do dammit! how about scrapping the power explanation and get on with it already.

i'd prolly do cartwheels down main street if they made marvel zombies in this size.

The Secret Wars mini-series is horrible because half of the characters seem very diffrent then their actual story counterparts. Wolverine especially is horrible. Everyone is a jerk. Although their may be an explation for this. I feel like I am missing pages in my copies. Also why did we get a Klaw figure so early if he isn't going to appear in the first three issues. Is it just because he fit well with Cap?

Well, let's see...who do we get? I think it was probably because he was one of the first they finished. As Klaw would have probably gone well with Doom as well, but there is quite a bit of dialouge between Klaw and Cap later in the series if memory serves me right.

Cap/Klaw
Torch/Wolv
Spidey/Thunderball
Hulk/Cyclops
Iron/Spidey.w
Magneto/B.spidey
Fantastic/Ultron
Thor/Enchantress
Hawkeye/Piledriver
Storm
Doom
Bulldozer
Wrecker
Thing
?????? (Hoping for a Kang if anything I guess)

storm and bulldozer! storm and bulldozer! so far, bulldozer has the best line of the arc: "bah, i'd smash them anyway!" and the mohawk storm is to die for. i'd like to see them packed together. but it doesn't really matter how they're packed. i will be buying them all.

mrjayberry: i agree that the characters seem off. some way more than others. this could very well be due to the age of the story. when you get multiple writers and editors the characters are bound to change characteristics. just watch a season one episode of the simpsons and then one from the past couple of seasons. homer is completely different.

Yeah Secret Wars was pretty much always a "grab new readers, sell some toys" kind of event. So simply written, lots of exposition yeah, but it does have a ton of awesome characters and did have a lasting impact on the Marvel Universe. I thoroughly enjoyed the three issues as i read through 'em again, but then again i'm also reading a showcase volume full of silver age Superman stories right now. So this seemed deep and complex by comparison. :(

Regarding your list URS, was Wrecker ever officially announced, or are we assuming on that one? I think Wrecker could actually survive single carded, if they ran out of room and needed to work in some more obscure stuff for SW.

And about that Doom art man, i'm actually kind of sad. I wanted a Doom figure, but we can get him in his regular costume in any standard wave. It will sell like mad on its own. I was kind of hoping for the capeless "tech" armor he had for the original Secret Wars figure. :(

Well first off your right Scumms, Doom will sell like candy canes at a .....candy cane convention....:( So I would expect there to be quite a few Doom variants coming out around 2010. I mean we only got a glimpse of figures from the first 2 and 3 waves, no idea other than Galactus for the Giant Battlers, Solid plans already in the works for a Secret Wars II series, and who the crap knows what 3 Packs or other stuff will be announced and released. Next Year's SDCC Exclusives? I wouldn't doubt quite a few different Doom's for sure. I'm hoping for a Doom 2099. :D

And I believe Wrecker was officially announced somewhere..... I could have swore it.....let me see........Well, it appears to be speculated on Toyark along with the Doom announcement. http://www.toyark.co...cret-wars-1573/
The Wikipedia guy hasn't been wrong yet, except for release times. He had Galactus on the GB list earlier this year, but removed it before the Con. Then Added it back afterward.

He also says Hasbro confirmed that the entire Wrecking Crew would be in the SW's series...but I can't find any such announcement. :( http://en.wikipedia....verse_(toyline)

That torso totally looks like it was built for maximum reuse rather than giving us a nice Jean Grey. Not that I'm surprised by that. And ditto on the neck!

Wolverine is a barely-defined blobhead in some X-Men costume I don't care about.

Warpath remains surprisingly badass. You go, heroic Native American homicidal maniac!

Sunfire isn't a favorite design (I like his AoA version better) but remains competent.

And House of M Spidey is yet another Spider-Man, bleh, but at least he doesn't look like utter garbage. Except I think that's the Surfer's torso again. Argh. And his accessory is an unusual choice for House of M Spidey. Major props for his web-bag, but I think that would have been more appropriate with a previous Spider-Man figure rather than the world-famous celebrity version of Parker.

The HOM spidey reuses the Black Spiderman body. And I agree, Sunfire and Warpath are easily the best of the wave. And I also agree on Jean. Her head just looks squished on. I don't understand it. Maybe they just tooled the neg hole too deep on the proto. I mean the Ms.Marvels didn't suffer from this did they? I have them....and Classic M.M even has enough neck for a scarf. Hopefully this will be fixed. I don't really see anything in this wave being scalp worthy either, so I expect it should be fairly easy to snag a set for sure. Jean Grey may be the hardest one to get, due to her popularity maybe, but I don't know. If her face looks squished in the final product, I can see her turning into a peg warmer.

Cheap wave for me, i'll likely just be getting Sunfire and Jean. Unless i am less poor by then, in which case Warpath too.

It's nice they're finally including stands, but i honestly would've preferred unlabeled and lower profile. These are kind of chunky.

flat circles with one peg for one foot. that'd been great for the stands. fingers crossed that these are just sloppy prototypes and the real releases are much better.

why are they starting over the number count? that's dumb.
