Hahaha, I was about to say "Forget the zombies, I'm going to Toysaurus to load up on Dinofroz!"
But, I DON'T think the ones in Columbus, OH are carrying them.

So, of you guys that have already gotten series one, any sightings of wave 2?

Nah man, I think Wave 2 is a while off.

At Toy Fare the Jakks marketing guy said they had over 100 figures planned for this year, but the website says "wrecking havoc this Fall", and I think the website is more correct as I don't see how they're going to do over 100 at this rate. Kind of makes me wonder if they're just going to scrap the line as a whole and only release the two waves of zombies around the holidays.

What about the smell? For those who have some, how does the smell compare to how MUSCLE and MIMP smelled back in the day?

To me the smell is the worst thing about this line. I said in my video that the smell agreed with me more than a plastic Hasbro figure, but the thing with these is that the smell doesn't seem to fade as much as a plastic figure.

And yum, Dinofroz! I've never heard of that, but it makes me want a smoothie.

If you look at jakks official retailer for slugs it clearly says series 2 is coming in april.

As far as the smell you can do the same thing people do with muscle figures and toss them in a bucket of water with something that smells nice for a few minutes and they will smell good for quite awhile.

Yeah but the Entertainment Earth site doesn't appear to have even gotten wave 1 yet. I have been checking that site for the past month and it has never once said they're in stock. Has anyone actually bought SLUG zombies from there and had them delivered yet? It also says "estimated date/subject to change" on all of them, so I don't know if their timeline is too accurate.

That is a good tip for the smell, but I am still interested in how the differing smells compare in their natural states and what the composition of the three different materials are for MUSCLE, MIMP, and SLUG.

They were in stock awhile ago at EE but i didn't try ordering from them.

There isn't really any reason to question the official timeline they have listed seeing as it hasn't been wrong yet even if the release is WAY too limited for our liking.

to me the smell is terrible, i enjoy the smell of muscle men though. it just seems to be a harsh rubber smell.......that being said, i keep all of mine in an airtight container, locking in that smell. maybe if left in the open the smell fades away over time?

Can you describe in detail how the smell of SLUG is different from MUSCLE? I personally have never handled MUSCLE, I'm a few years too young to have grown up with it. I think I had like 1 MUSCLE growing up that my dad found outside somewhere and I don't remember how it smelled. I do remember Monster in My Pocket, and I don't remember them having a smell like SLUG either, but I'm not sure.

You could try to keep them in the open for a while, the thing is though, what you're smelling is offgassing of chemicals used in the processing of the rubber/plastic, so if you put them back in the airtight container the smell would probably build up again. And even if you tried PlasticSoul's idea above, of putting them in water and washing them with something that smells nice, it would at best mask the smell of the offgassing, not eliminate it.

I wonder what it must be like to be a Chinese worker in the SLUG factory, having to breath in those fumes all day long.

Hmmm i'd say muscles smell like a CLEAN rubber. Somewhere between plain old rubber and a fresh eraser. Nothing chemical or toxic about them even fresh from a pack.

Zombies smell like chemicals.

Though i guess zombies shouldn't smell nice anyway.

The water scenting method works well for weeks if not months with one wash. Some members here go all out and add lavander oil and other fancy stuff. Pretty much every figure i've ever collected loses it's smell after a long time in the open.

You should get some muscles yourself. A nice size lot can make them like 50cents each and you are missing out big time having never held one in your hands. They are the standard by which we judge everything else. The sculpts and weight and feel of the rubber is still what lots of us look for. They are nicer then zombies in many ways. Not often you can grab a piece of history for less then the price of a candy bar.

I'll look into getting a few, but I have to limit what I collect or else it gets out of control.

It would be interesting though, to compare what MUSCLE retailed for back in the 80s compared to what SLUG retails for today. Does anyone know what the various packs of MUSCLE were originally priced at?

That's a pretty good question, after factoring in all of the inflation, what are the cost of these compared to original M.U.S.C.L.E.s?

On a side note, when these reach full distribution, I wonder if the areas that are getting these later are going to get all of the available waves at once, or on stages like the areas that already have them?

Yep. EE's supply of wave 1 sold out. I had a 12 pack in my cart awhile back but decided to try Toys R Us (over and f'ing over again) instead of paying the $5 shipping. The pre-order for wave 2 used to say March and now it's April. Hopefully that's correct and they don't just keep pushing it back. I want to see some survivor figures.

So the very few sightings we had seem to have stopped, guessing that big push will be happening later in the year?

it seems wave 1 is gonna be very very limited, but hopefully wave 2 will be widespread. i don't see massive amounts of wave 1 appearing for people like they hope will happen. all i know, is i'm ready for wave 2 to hit me.

I think it's too early to say at this point. If what we just saw was a test release I'd imagine they'd redistribute wave 1 when they do the real release. I know if I was running the company I'd make sure I actually distributed wave 1 first before moving on to a second wave, otherwise what was the point of paying to have the figures for wave 1 made?

You wouldn't happen to have the DCPI for Target?

It also states "There are even some Glow in the Dark variants mixed throughout the line"
