Not mail, but went to Barnes & Noble this morning to see what SDCC collectibles they are selling. They didn't have the TMNT Spongebob/Plankton set I wanted. My kids pulled metallic Hulk and glow Phoenix from the Marvel blind boxes.
Here is the list of SDCC Funko stuff that B&N is selling in stores now:
POP Frozen Elsa the Snow Queen
POP Game of Thrones Ghost with Flocking
POP Despicable Me 2 Minion Carl (Purple Disguise)
POP Despicable Me 2 Minion Dave (Purple Disguise)
POP Star Wars Hoth Luke & 6" Wampa
Marvel Blind Box
Disney Blind Box
In Memoriam Game of Thrones Deceased Blind Box
Glow Game of Thrones White Walker Action Figure

Got these today.
I Bought the right slag king because it looked like a variant and it is gotta love that!
Note:The Left Slag king is old just wanted to show the variant easier.
There is indeed a ´variant´ of the Slag King and its known that the one that came with the Savannah set is more Brown than the other one which is a little more Greyish. Not really sure where that one came from though since just like the Dino Gator, Skybat, Grotess, King Buster and Salmomanther those figs were not available in a single box. So they might´ve derived from the so called punch-box.
Looking at the color of your Right (new) Slag King though I´m not 100% certain its a variation you should be happy about since it looks as if this figure is a victim of the known discoloration issue among Slag Kings..... I´d need to see a side and back pic to be sure but you can easily tell when the front color of the figure (skin only) is more blueish while the back color is more the color of the figure on the left of your picture. So if the front and back color of its skin is different I´m afraid I´ve to tell you its not a variant but its a issue caused by sunlight resulting in the discoloration of the skin color. Just like the Skybat and Dino Gator the Slag King in the box with the chariot (Battle Savannah) is visibly placed behind the bubble wrap but whereas the other two are not affected at all by sunlight (at least not as far as I know) possible due to another composition of the base color of rubber used for the main figure (and thus its primary skin color) the rubber that´s used for the Slag King is know to show signs of discoloration. If that´s the case its a pretty serious issue condition wise. Hope its just the pic though....

I am not sure if that blue is sun damage though. It seems like it would be more obvious like in this voltron toy: http://www.thenerdie...e-no-weapons-b/ (smoke and sun do the same damage for blues)

That's the only LEGO Tolkien set that I didn't buy since the only exclusive bits were the new printed robe/legs for Saruman and Wormtongue; I skipped out and just bought the figures individually.
Btw, in case you hadn't seen it yet they unveiled the LEGO Smaug set last week. Set is kinda meh (and overpriced at $130) but he looks good IMO.

If it´d be smoke than it would also be present on the back of this figure as it would´ve affected its complete original skin color and mainly this is not the case simply because the box these figs come from have this transparent bubble/foil where the figure is visible inside the box. If the box is displayed in a store front or whatever room where the sun is able to hit it the color is affected and changing inside the box........ I asked for side and back pics in order to confirm or bust my thoughts as this would exclude the option of smoke damage as well.

Thanks for the pics and I´m glad your not to bothered with the issue because my thoughts were confirmed with these pics since they clearly show the blueish discoloration of the front side of the figure (side which has been exposed to sunlight inside the box). Hope you got this figure for a good price since condition wise this is a pretty serious issue so it wouldn´t be accepted by most collectors. I´ve had one which I used for a custom project.
On the other hand though it looks as if your other Slag King is indeed the more rare Savannah version which has a more brown skin tone than the normal Slag King.
Sorry for the (bad) news but its an issue that I´ve been trying to discuss out here on the board openly and quite often so it should´ve been available with some searching.
Next time keep in mind that with an issue like that there´s a lot of room to negotiate on the price since it´d be worth only a fraction of a Slag King in good condition.
