The "coming soon" title is somewhat slightly misleading at this point.

Didn't know about this project.. probably because I was living under a rock
The sculpts are GREAT so far, totally blending with the rest of the produced figures, are you getting only the rubber casted figures or the prototypes too GTM?

I hope this comes to light this year. Those sculpts in progress were looking amazing.

I'm sorry that is taking so long time but I made it alone and the price to afford them was really really crazy....
Moreover the sculptor had a long problem with his hands and even that reason has caused a late in the project...
I'm sorry that I've to change "coming soon" with a "will come now or then"
I hope in your future support in anyway.

to put it into perspective, this project was announced in March 2011 & not a single figure has been produced for sale yet! It's been a ridiculously long & disappointing wait, unfortunately.

Imo all the wait will be worth it. Take it that since March`11 you could have startet to save money for this project. I don`t understand some of the claims here, all I can say is GTM is doing AN INCREDIBLE JOB and is most awesome for doing this. Thanks.

Hopefully the sculptors hands are soon well again! I`ve had problems with my Hands also, don`t know what he has but it sucked and you won`t be able to sculpt/work for months.

Ehy man,
I want to remember you that the process it's still running... Why you say “unfortunatelyâ€￾ ??
Nothing has never stopped or erased... so, where is the problem???...
Don't wanna wait?.. Ok don't wait. I can make nothing for your disappointing waiting...
Moreover this is a fan made thing, I'm not an official toy producer and I've my own life with an own job, too.
This is an hobby for me, not my work... -_-

Fan made? I thought it was commissioned by you to an original mimp sculptor which is odd in of itself. You've never shared the hard facts about this or ever given out any solid details.
I'm assuming the sculptor is in the UK or am i wrong? Two years is a long time & now the guy is having trouble with his hands, aye?
This isn't a personal attack, i'm just saying what anyone in their right mind would at this point about this project instead of kissing ass, thinking they'll be first in line for these figures when they show up.

These are slowly being made for your own private collection (which is fine) with your sole funding & any you do decide to have produced for limited sale you are going to charge a fortune for, i'm sure.

I just can say I hope to give you those figures as soon as possible.
The sculptor is not in U.K. and as you can see by the pictures he's working hardly on the prototypes.
The problem he had at his hands was almost one year ago... I wrote "he had a problem" not he has a problem man, read carefully.

These are slowly being made for your own private collection (which is fine) with your sole funding & any you do decide to have produced for limited sale you are going to charge a fortune for, i'm sure.

Probably the final product will be expensive but it'll be definitely a real collector's item and I hope the coolest ever.
I'm hardly working too, to make it so....
Taking the commission to create new and awesome artworks for the cards and packaging (I paid a great artist here in Italy by myself, he's not my neighbor...)
Then I'll have to pay again somebody that will print in high quality, cut and prepare the boxes and someone able to produce for not crazy price blisters to store them in packaging... (still searching cause is not easy to find at cheap price)
Who is organizing to make all these things???.. Who is moving?? You?!?..
I wanna take this chance to say a large "THANK YOU!!!" to Alfonso Valdez for his meticulous, fast and FREE job on the translations of card writings (he's not from U.K. and not from U.S.A. just like me, therefore not too good at English but however has done.. THANKS MATE!!)
If you consider yourself an Hardcore collector of MIMPs and you FEEL GOOD thinking to SAVE MONEY and WAIT LONG TIME to buy that item I'm happy for you, otherside if you feel that is not the case to pay such a crazy price and wait so long to afford it, don't worry you can make as you prefer.
Take the better decision for yourself.
I've never told anyone here "you're obligated to buy those sets because I'm going to pay them like a small car" as StontiumDog correctly said.
I feel to say you all are welcome in my project but if you're starting to put this thing on this tone I prefer to leave you out and keep in mind who has supported me at the moment the sets will be ready.
I'm doing it not for money... I don't need your money, ok!?..
but at least I'd get back what I paid for it... with something more for the time I spent and still spending on it.
You say "you're going to charge a fortune?!... Rather I'd say "I already paid a fortune and still paying to make it!!.."
So this is just to make real a dream that everybody here have ever had (me included)...
That's all for now.

I don't mind waiting for these figures at all. Ever since I first learned about the missing monsters in MIMP # 82-96 I've wanted them. It's great to know that after all this time they will be released, maybe not officially by MEG but IMO this is the next best thing!
I'm excited to see them coming along this well already, and that's all thanks to GTM.

Whilst I am interested in how these figures come out, and they do look great so far. I'm sure that any potential price that has been suggested is likely to increase probably. Yes we could have been setting aside some money bit by bit, but at the same time we all have lives to life and bills to pay. I am sure that a few might think 'a small car' cost is pretty expensive and when you think of it it is. But some vague estimate for people to see might be useful. If one has been stated, my apologies but 13 pages of thread to look though isnt on my agenda for today :D

Who needs a car if he can get the missing "dozen" :p

I fully support the project and totally know the feeling of putting money into something you can't control but want badly.
If i think about it, it's much better to wait for those figures than to have them never ever produced.

I have been following this project for more than a year. And I like to see the progress, in fact, the small advances are also exiting, we are part of an ilusion that we have since we were kids, and that´s wonderful. It´s a long waiting, but it will be worth it.
Thanks GTM for doing this, I´m still on this, :)

I think what is fueling the price behind these is the sculptor's greed.

The guy wants as much money as possible with the smallest amount of effort.

If he sold the sets for cheaper prices and upped his desired limitation for the project's sets then he could still come out making the $20K he's currently "expecting" to make, but with a little bit more effort. I didn't scan through this thread in it's entirely, but I saw several people willing to drop $700 or so on this, just not the $1000+.

The figures look pretty cool, so I hope the project eventually works out for you guys. Doubly so I also hope the sculptor comes to his senses.

Edit: Maybe I missed it, but how do you guys know for a fact this guy worked on the original MIMP lines? I remember reading he will write certificates of authenticity, but any chimp with a type writer can put words on paper. It doesn't make them true.

Yeah, looks like a year since Gorm's last post about the topic and about 3 years since the idea came about.

I was wondering about this the other day, before Artistix bumped the thread. I would still love to see these figures come to light.

Agreed.

He could also sculpt them himself and enter them as OMFG figures. There would likely be enough interest to get 1 of these made each series. That would solve the issue of getting them produced in PVC.
