From Kaiyodo's Capsule Q set, a Chestburster! It's larger than I expected, and is actually in scale with NECA's figures.

I got Knifehead from Pacific Rim - as made by Kaiyodo.  It's a Gashapon figure, and unlike cetain other Pacific Rim figures, it's in scale with Doom Gotter!

Knifehead-Kaiyodo.png

I picked up several blind bag LEGO mini-figures.  Not to show them all off, but I have found that if you combine the head of the Alien with the body of the Evil Sorcerer, you have a passable D&D Mind Flayer!

MindFlayer-LEGO.png

And finally, there's ReAction Lo-Pan from Big Trouble in Little China.  The retro look works reasonably well for him, but they really dropped the ball on his Beholder monster accessory.  It is really small (out of scale), has almost no detail, and... wait, it's painted one solid color?  Not cast in flesh-toned plastic?  I suspect that the sculpt would have a lot more detail if not for the paint.  I know that this is a retro-styled line, but a retro toy wold have been cast in that color, not painted.

Well it turns out I hadn't seen all of the KO Diener colors or sculpts yet! Today I got some mammoths as well as orange and purple colorways I didn't have previously. The hunt continues!

Legit Diener dinos are above in orange and blue. This shot really makes me appreciate the vibrance of rubber vs. eraser/keshi.

And completing the trio of stuff that trickled in from Japan (Alien, Pacific Rim, and this) is Hakutaku, a Japanese and Chinese holy beast with ultiple eyes (it has eyes on its side that I couldn't capture in the pic because of its pose), and once told the Chinese emperor about every single supernatural monster in the world. S aid emperor wrote a book about it, but the book has been lost, which puts it firmly in the "Oh yeah, I know everything about that, I just, uh, lost my book" category.

nice, how long did it take from order date to arrival of that guy? I just placed an order for a few sculpts yesterday.

which puts it firmly in the "Oh yeah, I know everything about that, I just, uh, lost my book" category.

Today I finally got the last color I needed of MIMP Ganesha! I eventually need to replace the pink one because it's got a bit of marker staining underneath one foot, but I'm happy to finally have the elephant crew all together.

One of the things that made John Carpenter's The Thing so effective was how it never showed the Thing's "true form." Frankly, it doesn't need one, and most likely its "true form" is just its indiivdual cells (as demonstrted in the 2011 prequel).

HOWEVER... in the original novella, Who Goes There, the Thing did have a "true form," seen when it was frozen in the ice (it also changed back into that form whenever discovered).  And there is a single figure of it - the only one in the "Horrora" Aurora Models tribute line.

Thing.png

A three-eyed blue muppet monster with worm hair.  That really is how it is described in the book.
Thing-Base.png

So, as cool as this figure is, chalk it up to another "The movie was better than the book" situation.
