HOWEVER... in the original novella, Who Goes There, the Thing did have a "true form,"

I absolutely love The Thing. Probably one of, if not my all-time favourite horror movie. I never bothered looking further into it, so I never knew it had a book let alone this awesome figure.

That thing is just downright stupidly awesome in every way imaginable.

Yeah, the novella was written in the 1940s.  The '50s The THing from Another World isn't very accurate to the bok, but the '80s movie more-or-less is, with a few differences (more people at the base, the Thing's "true form," an attempt at a blood serum test before they use a hot wire, a happier ending, and most of the people infected in the book were safe in the movie, and the infectedin the movie were safe in the book. That much was done on purpose).

Found this at the 99cent store of all places. Im not a huge fan of Safari figures but this was too cool to pass up for $1. Out of the 3 local .99 cent stores, only one had them on the pegs.

So, I have two Ultraman Kaiju now, Hipporito and Ragstone.

but the amazing thing is how they arrived!  The seller shipped them wraped in saran wrap, packed inside a paper shopping bag.  With no padding.  The mailman laughed as he handed it over, amazed that it survived the trip intact.

once I got a some beasts from Greece that arrived in what was basically just pieces of toilet paper tubing quality squares of cardboard "taped" together into a box-ish shape. It literally disintegrating by the time it got to me. Then there's the box I got from Japan that looked like it had been stabbed through two sides with a sword. (once through the "Fragile" sticker)

We should start an " Amazing Shipping Tales"  thread for these kinds of stories haha.

Absolutely correct, he's from the imaginatively titled E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial board game.

I loved that E.T. figure when I was a kid. The game sucked but the figure and his Halloween sheet costume were great!

After 40 days and nights wandering the desert in a mail truck, this diverse packet of Mexican awesome from alfonsovaldezv finally arrived. Some bootleg MIMPs, a few GB companions, and some of the cleanest Mexican BB bootlegs I've ever seen, (oh man that white gorilla!)

yeah I was actually really surprised that the sheet piece didn't have cracks or anything in it. love it when they make accessories for minis :)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm a huge fan of The Thing and had to have one of these when I saw your post.

Managed to snag one online..

Can't wait to unleash it on my unwary figure horde...

One of the things that made John Carpenter's The Thing so effective was how it never showed the Thing's "true form." Frankly, it doesn't need one, and most likely its "true form" is just its indiivdual cells (as demonstrted in the 2011 prequel)

I managed to replace two figures of mine that had flaws.

Agares - my earlier one had mis-applied paint on his eyes.  Basically, he either had no paint, or a red splotch on his forehead.  This one fixes it.

The demon Agares finds lost people, causes earthquakes, and teaches foul language.

Agares_1.png

Marchosias - That fire doesn't really stay in there, it's edged in and precarious.  My old one had lost his flame a long time ago.

The demon Marchosias is a fighter, but he also hopes to be redeemed.

The grizzled hermit riding a flaming alligator is pretty damn legit as well.

He is like the Anti-Santa of Earthquakes and Curse Words.

It's He-Man day!  First up is "Oo-Larr," who is actually an early design of He-Man from the first mini-comic, before the cartoon - back when he was just this half-naked jungle dude.

Oolarr-NewWeapon.png

Oolarr-VsDinosaur.png

And then there's Huntara, who appeared in a She-Ra episode:

Huntara.png

And finally, I got the Cyclops from the old Socket Poppers line. It had interchangeable limbs, but poor QC, so mine from when I was a kid mostly broke on the first day.  I always wanted this guy, though, because of his sculpt, so I am going to be careful with him.

I thought Prometheus kicked much ass. Gorrila alien is my least favorite of the kenner aliens, however he still is pretty cool. I think he spits water when you squeeze his hydrocephalic head... Or maybe that was the snake alien?

Great ship!  The Gorilla Alien does squirt water - the snake had a spring-loaded jaw contraption.
