I'm actually kind of honored to just be living in the same state as those Mexican battle beasts. (Fellow Missourian...)  The funny thing is I thought I could get by with just leaving that line out of my collecting interests...I'm finding that impossible now. Monochromatic glory at it's finest right there.

Sorry for the bad pics, but got in my case of D&D minis this afternoon + promo figure, got 43/45 of the set, 4 clear figures. All the doubles went up in my shop. The rares are a lot harder to get in this set, didn't see nearly as many repeats.

only pulled 1 of those out of 32 boxes! some of these I think will end up going up in price due to how hard they are to get.

Aaanyway, yeah MBB's totally scratch the mono itch for BB's at a fraction of the price of the Greeks. Such a wide variety of colors too, even if they are limited to 12 or so sculpts. :)

More Demon's Chronicle today - three Egyptian figures, one demon, and two figures in total are kindasorta doubles.

Taweret is the hippo goddess.  We may think of hippopotami as adorable, goofy animals, but the Egyptians knew how overwhelminglt viscious and dangerous they are, and thus Taweret was often feared as a predator and destroyer, linked to utter darkness and death. However, over time the Egyptians began to assume that a mother hippopotamus's viciousness came from protecting its young, and so Taweret became more of a maternal figure, a goddess of fertility and childhood, and the protector of mothers and their young.  She was still vicious and violent, but now it was directed, no longer a force of chaos.

Taweret.png

Nekhbet, the vulture-headed goddess, is not associated with death!  She is instead a powerful creator goddess, the "mother of mothers," and serves alongside Ra and Khnum as one of the chief creator deities in ancient Egypt.  She also protected the Pharaoh, led his armies, and watched over childbirth.

Nekhbet.png

And now for the "doubles."  I already had a figure of Renenutet, but it was missing the tongue and had a huge paint chip on her face, and a staff that was even MORE warped.

Renenutet is a goddess of nourishment, the harvest, and protection.  She eventually got onfused with Wadjet, a cobra-headed goddess who protected the Pharaoh (and in fact, I used to think this figure was Wadjet).

Renenutet.png

Renenutet is also the wife of Sobek, the crocodile-headed god, because both are associated with the Nile.  The big inscruption about SObek states that he "urinates wherever he wises," so I assume that it must really suck to be Renenutet.

"No, honey, we're not inviting Osiris over for dinner.  You know the reason why!"

Renenutet-Sobek.png

And finally, Arioch, who historically was a Canaanite king, but eventually became conflated to be a bat-winged demon of Vengeance - well, he was meant to guard Enoch's family, and even though Enoch successfully ascended into Heaven, Arioch still fell and turned evil.  This dude is a "repaint," albeit a subtle one - the only colors changed are his buckles, boots, and sword.  The gold-shoed figure also has  slightly thicker gray wash on his body and more orange paint on his right arm, but that might just be general figure variance.  My real reason for snagging the repaint was becuase my red-boots Arioch had lost the scabbard to his sword a long time ago, and I finally decided to fix the problem.

Got some cool things recently. I found the knockoff he-man/terminator/ninja at a junk store in my hometown while visiting over easter weekend. The body is a true MOTU style copy, based on what I could see of the hands/wrist/gauntlets and the layout. I don't really know what it is suppose to be..just cheap bootleg awesome. The picture of the misc figures on a glass case was a great deal...guy just had random stuff put together on ebay and I asked about the little figures...after much talk we agreed that he would just send me those and a few more he said he found after the photo..(originally there were larger items in his lot, happy meal toys, etc.) I won the lot for a couple bucks plus a couple more in shipping...maybe 6 dollars total. I got what is pictured, which contains some cool things.....annnnnnd then I also got what is pictured after that. He found and threw in a sweet glorious Canadian cereal Abominable Snowman neon green MIMP that was in great shape! He clearly knew not what he had. It was a good day. The last pic is another lot from ebay. DFC dragonriders in the PRC rubber format that are much rarer...I was so happy with this one too!

I also got this lot a few days ago...someone was selling S.L.U.G. Zombie figures in 20 count lots for cheap on ebay, saying you would get a random assortment with possible doubles from series 2, 3, and 4. I took the plunge and bought one since I only had about 15 of them before. I'm not sure what I expected but this was a surprise. Luckily I needed one of each of the molds in the lot, but I never expected an army of Crocodile Dudee's featured in a lopsided ratio of hunters to zombies, or should I say "zombie". I still feel that I got a good lot, because the hunters are more short packed than the zombies obviously...but I really need to get the rest that I need. So with that in mind...anyone need to build an Aussie army and looking to trade some zombies?

Glad you like the lot you got.  Even for $8.49, I would have been upset, especially with his picture showing this pile in the correct 2 to 1 proportions. I don't know what is up with your figures.  There should not be that kind of color variance.  I wonder if he bought a pile of factory rejects or something.  Whatever, glad you like your lot.

Edit: Gator Jones came in one of the Christmas packs with Santa Claws and Eli the Expired Elf.  And Captain Payback came with Hungry Humbug and Natty Nate.  And there's Buck Wild who came with Frozen Fright (the snowman) and Johnny Hammer-Stix.  And there's the fourth pack.  I didn't notice Blazin' Basel at first.  He came with Ralph Reindeer and Surprise Demise. These are just the rejects from assembling a bunch of Christmas sets, which sell for a bit of a premium. The Christmas set of 8 figures came from these 4 packs -- all four of your hunters were already duplicates from the core series and just filler when assembling the Christmas sets. This guy put together a lot of Christmas sets apparently (at least 9).   Maybe this was the guy who was painting them and making cool custom ornament sets a couple years ago.

It still looks like you got more Gator Jones than are in that entire pile!  Personally, I think it sucks that he only sent you one zombie given the photo and description.  BTW, your one zombie is named Jamaica Me Sick.

I think some of the extreme coloration variances you see in the pic I took are just poor lighting...one or two of them do look a bit lighter, but for the most part they are uniform. I was a little disappointed in the lot, but tried to put it in the best possible light...I can always get more zombies, but rarely do you see large lots of hunters. It was a gamble, and luckily fairly cheap. That is a very thorough assessment on how there could be so many of those figures, and certainly spot on! I did get a laugh out of it when I dumped out the bag...usually in zombie apocalypse scenarios it's the other way around! I can only assume some of his other customers got extreme bags the other direction, or maybe the seller did use up his zombies with customization or selling them in previous lots...without knowing what other people got, it is hard to say rather his auction picture was an honest assessment of what he had for sale.
