promo figure and poster signing at sdcc... so who is going and can pick me up one of each? haha :)

Battle Beast Giveaways!
Every morning from Thursday through Sunday, when the doors to the show open, DST will be giving out 200 individually bagged promotional Battle Beasts Minimates, to celebrate the release of the first Battle Beasts Minimates 2-pack and the unveiling of the Series 1 prototypes! They’ll be given out only while supplies last, so make booth 2607 your first stop of the day! And while you’re there, enter to win a custom Battle Beasts guitar and guitar case, by Peavey and Coffin Case!

Battle Beasts Signing!
On Friday, July 13, at 2:00, the writer of the Battle Beasts comic book for IDW, Bobby Curnow, and the artist of issue #1’s incentive and Comic-Con-exclusive covers, Ulises Farinas, will be signing at the DST booth! There will be free posters given out for them both to sign, and the Comic-Con edition of issue #1 will be available for purchase!

Does anyone have any info or even gotten their hands on the 1:25 variant that includes a minimate? I was informed of this by my local comic book store, however they said they haven't gotten theirs in but exspect it in this week.

There is not a 1:25 cover, just a Minimate sent to every retailer who ordered 25 copies. And yes, they shipped a week late.

What preview? I've seen only 2 new figures in pics from the con booth. Weren't they supposed to have all of Series 1 on display? Did it show up later in the weekend?

There's one reason I've erased this line out of my head and it can be described in one word;

So that's it for the first series? They only showed a couple toys? I was really thinking this was going to be a much grander unveil. It's been 2 years in the making.

i think they look pretty cool. id buy some if they arent 15 dollars. the guard rail held the weight of the crashing car.

5 dollars each is fair. i think they would display well. ya know, show the twists and turns of the series. i honestly expected a lot worse.

$5 each, or $10 for a 2 pack. Unless they are $8 for a 2-pack.

I.M.O., the Spider is the only one lacking, but he is not nearly as lousy as Zik. The others kick major ass!!!!

Yeah, these all look pretty amazing! Zik was an oddity, and won't be representative of the whole line. But I'm with you Boosted. After a while, Zik has sort of grown on me. He's weird, but now that I have created a character for him, there is a certain charm to the figure.

And I thought I remember Zach saying at C2E2 that these would be packaged/priced like their other minimate 2 packs. That would make it $8-9 per 2 pack, which is worth it in my opinion.

I am guessing they still have more to reveal for series 1. Zach said that series 1 would be different between Toys R Us and comic book stores. Series 1 in comic books stores would be based on more on the comic series, having comic accurate colors and the two human characters. Series 1 Toys R Us is going to be in brighter colors, and will not include any human characters. So I am thinking that there might still be some beasts yet to be revealed.

And man, I want that moose. He's awesome

If they're like all the other series' of Minimates they will probably be 8 figures to a release so we've probably seen about all of Wave 1 I would say. I'm a big fan of all but Zik and the Spider so not a bad round 1!

Two-packs cost 8-9 bucks. Eight Series 1 figures at specialty (shown); subtract the humans, add in the bat/moose pack and re-deco everybody and you've got the Toys R Us assortment. Main characters have minor differences, but the other beasts are completely different colors. So there are still eight figures to reveal, and the production pieces always look better than the prototypes, because casting a toy in the correct colors beats painting it. And Zik has been released, and now you'll never see him again.

I'm happy. I'm really curious to see how they all turn out a retail, but the prototypes looked excellent-- glossy where it counts, sculpted well, and they have the glowing one-color bright eyes which I basically need to be happy. :)

I like Zik, I like the snake, I like the scorpion, I'll buy the people, but I'm excited about the beasts. The snake, especially in person, is pretty fantastic. I hope the line succeeds, I know I'm trying to shine a light on it!

I don't know that these aren't cybernetic-- has anyone said? Vorin's got a metal plate on the back of his head and vents, and Gruntos the walrus seems to have some gills or some sort of robotic stuff around his neck. The bad guys seem to be animals in armor, but I'm not so sure about two of the good guys so far.

Varying degrees. The jellyfish beast and anglerfish beast they fight in the next issue have some extensive implants they need to operate on land. But many of the beasts rely solely on their fighting prowess, and have limited armor so as not to hinder their natural attributes.
