@MantisFang please give those Fantasminis their own post in "Other Toys and Toylines" or "Toy Reviews." They are so cool they deserve their own thread.

So, NECA has made another round of Kenner Predators.
First up is Cracked Tusk, which was my favorite figure back in the day:
And then Renegade, the Normal" Predator, albeit a little clearer and with some weird weapons:
And finally Scavage, who is green, and actually does look like one of the new movie's Super Predators. Seriously, the old toy absolutely fits.

Man those are great...I really need to get in the game with all these homemade customs and independent artist figures...I don't even know where to begin or where to find half this stuff. It seems like it is all on the high end too...or is that just a result of coming into the game late after they have already been out for awhile? My funds are too limited...but surely I can score some of these types of figures.

the claw sculpt is one of Moke's (http://www.littlerub...howtopic=221010) and has only been out since February so you're not all that late on that one
the Customs forum (http://www.littlerub...hp?showforum=56) can be a good place to keep track, but there are definitely a lot of artists who don't post in there. I've found Instagram to be really useful for finding out what customs are coming out, you just have to follow the artists you're interested in. NIlla, Tru:Tek, Zectron, and 1shotToys just to name a few off the top of my head. Custom minifigs are generally more expensive than you're going to pay for a mass produced figure due to the expense that goes into casting materials and effort of the artists but usually nothing that crazy as to make them unobtainable. Most of the time getting in on the drop quick enough is the main limiting factor (especially for the more popular artists). There are also a lot of sofubi and "art toy" artists, but thats never really been my thing (and they tend to be more expensive).

Really jelly of that Cthulhu. I want it so bad, but after conversion and shipping it just wouldn't be worth it for me.

Yeah, we have that "Who's on Instagram?" thread ( http://www.littlerub...howtopic=218803), but people are mostly posting their own ID's. I think it would be a good idea to come up with a list of known custom artists' IG accounts; it would also fit in that thread.

Plenty of names mentioned above that I'd second, but I'd also add in that Instagram is a great place to find people who make customs, yet don't use this forum - for example I found the guy who made my Trash Claw on Instagram and he isn't a member here.
That's great, but this is a community, and I suspect people would rather deal with members of the community as opposed to outsiders who shun it. I know I certainly would.

I hear ya there. Lrg is really made for easy communication and has good reputation system through feedback. And as you may notice from the lists of artists weve got lots of custom makers who make plenty of toys variating shapes, size, material and styleThat's great, but this is a community, and I suspect people would rather deal with members of the community as opposed to outsiders who shun it. I know I certainly would.

I'm assuming there's a story here I'm not aware of, but I can't imagine that these two groups are all-inclusive. I'd imagine there are a decent number of people who either don't know about the LRG site/community, or just don't care for forums in general and prefer the interface on IG, FB, or whatever social media they use instead.
I think dealing with people on LRG is certainly a preference for people who are already here, and I always encourage outsiders to join when I come across them, but I'm not prepared to discount someone just because they aren't already active LRG members.

I'm not suggesting discounting anyone, but I think that connections you make on LRG have a guaranteed badge of quality that you're not gonna get with Flickr or Grindr or whatever.

...probably has their own "little rubber guys" community, but the user experience and rating systems are probably pretty different
agreed on the other points though, I'm glad I found this place when I did. my wallet and collection are definitely better off because of it.

I think that when it comes to a quality standpoint and/or an information standpoint, LRG is pretty hard to equal in the toy community... But, there are people doing cool shit out there, who haven't been fortunate enough to find this site. Honestly, if it weren't for Ultimate Muscle coming out in 2002, I wouldn't have found it.
