That is a given about you getting the best deal on the purple claw.  :)  By the way, I know you mentioned you don't collect for value, but Daryl out of package is still a $100+ figure.

you have GOT to be shitting me! seriously? why so valuable? that is crazy. maybe i should sell it to an LRG member here as it may be more appreciated. i think it is cool and all but not a line i collect. my birth mom was being nice :) lol

Supply and demand.  Daryl's might drop soon because the figure is coming out as a two pack with Merle later this year.

For everything the community seems to know about other figures, there doesn't seem to be any conclusive information about how many Purple Claws are known at the moment?

That being said... Back onto topic, I think it would be pretty naive to believe that Mattel/Bandai only produced 20-60 purple claws. My guess is, that they are/were out there in the hundreds. Toy hunter does an episode on the purple claw, I guarantee you'll see a lot more pop up.

Additionally: Let's at least try to place nice, guys. If you want to have a debate about the usage of vernacular, the Sandbox is wide open. Please keep it civil.

If we're talking production numbers, heck who knows?...a bunch. I'm just thinking, as of now, in the hands of actual collectors, that there's probably 20 or so. This is just my judgement based on the 2 or so years I've been paying attention to this stuff.

I'll leave it at this, to each their own on how you wish to express yourselves verbally...but yes, I do work in Special Education and I've seen the damage the words 'pinheaded' and 'pinhead' have on some of the kids I work with. We have spent a lot of time at my school trying to help other students understand how much something as simple as a word like that can hurt. The nationwide campaign to help stop the use of 'that' word is called "Spread the Word to End the Word". Sorry to bring my personal beliefs into a discussion on a forum related to toys, but it is something I feel strongly about in my personal and professional life.

I don't at all disagree with you.

Moving forward though, and this is not just directed at Jackson but all of you, just report offensive behavior. I promise that the boards will be more actively moderated, so that we can spend our time discussing the one love we all have in common... Toys.

As for the "production numbers versus still existing numbers", we can only speculate... But it stands to reason, that there would be a lot more than those accounted for by collectors on this forum. I wouldn't be surprised, once the current claw-craze wanes, if in the next ten years anywhere between 20-50 more purple claws surface.

While Idk how many purple claws are known to exsist currently. I do remember the first one I saw pop up was a seller from Hawaii that had one in a lot that I think went for 600 area. Since then I can think of about 10 more so id say a safe guess for how many are known/recorded through the board is in the 20 range. To exsist who knows. Some have been lost, ruined and just throw away. So whats left? Who knows...

I was suppose to buy it from him, but then he lost it.  After a month or so after I bought a purple claw he found it.  I haven't heard of it since.

My thoughts exactly! I have a picture somewhere of the alleged can. You can tell something does not look right with it. I will see if I can find it

I mean, what is the point to lying about that? If you convinced anybody, you're sitting on the LRG equivalent of nazi gold. You can't sell it to anybody, or you're found out. You can't even show it to anybody that knows the hobby. It's a worthless endeavor.

Because people like that can't help themselves. I believe that there are far more sociopaths in the world than are ever diagnosed. Sociopath doesn’t automatically mean sociopath – which most people believe. A true sociopath believes they are smarter than everyone and can operate without morale objection, because they don’t care about other people.

That is why someone would make a fake whatever – or lie, or cheat, or steal. Plus, it’s not too far-fetched of a scheme. You simply need one sucker. The purple claw already gets sane people to act crazy, so you’ve also got an overzealous market. Ultimately it’s a waiting game. And one that would probably work because you’d have to make the sale outside of eBay or LRG. Then it becomes a “toy cybercrime.â€￾ I don’t think there is a wonderful conviction rate on those.

This might be a dumb question, but would a purple claw sealed be really worth a lot more than a loose one?  I mean, it's not like it's a SR or anything.  Color claws in package are going for what now a days?  I think I paid $45 or so for mine, which is just a little more than a loose, but not by much.  Now a sealed SR figure in a 4 or 10 pack would be something completely else.  That would be awesomeeeeeeeee.

The same reason people lie about their income, dick size, etc, etc. To make themselves look better in the eyes of their peers.
