Has anyone tried using a double boiler to melt down the plastic of a muscle? Most plastics change color (burn) when melted with direct heat, however, when I was in college, in sculpture, I melted fishing rubber worms and made baby dolls from a plaster mold (actually baby doll skins, because I only coated the mold rather than filling it). If that works, I could melt the original plastic and pour it into the Satancross mold I will have and wa-la! Instant original Satancross!

That's a beautiful and genius idea Godbeast. You could make Satancross in every color that M.U.S.C.L.E.'s were made in!!!!!

If this is possible, please let me know, and I will buy one in every color from you. I'll be sending that Satancross as soon as you get that Vacuum Chamber of yours too. SWEET!!!

I thought I would bring this topic back to life because of what I did today.

I am attempting to bleach another colored M.U.S.C.L.E. figure by the use of sunlight.

The figure I am bleaching is a green M.U.S.C.L.E. #61. I put him on the roof of my house today. The summer sun is coming, and he should be thoroughly "white" by the end of August or September hopefully.

The way in which I placed him on the roof for complete and even sun bleaching I think is the coolest idea. I was on my roof searching for a spot when I came across one of my two whirly gigs...the things that spin in the wind and vent the attic.

Well, I figured that if I attach the figure upright somehow to the top of the whirly, it will constantly turn for a most even sun bleaching experience. So I tied a string across the whirly and acroos the figures shoulders as to hold him down in place while standing. The tension of the string prevents him from falling over. There is also a piece of cloth under his feet to prevent him from melting when the metal of the whirly becomes super hot in the summer sun.

He's up there as of a few hours ago and will remain until the end of summer. I will post some pics of the roof setup so everyone can see what is going on up on top of the roof of my house.

I will occasionally monitor his bleaching progress and post additional pics as well. This is going to be a fun experiment!

My only fear is that an Arizona summer sun and temps over 110, will most likely melt him into a puddle on your roof. I guess you will find out. Have you tried simply placing a figure in a bleach solution. Pure bleach would probably eat the plastic, however, a water/bleach mixutre would probably work quicker.

My #81 is as close to white as he`s gonna get. He is still a cream color but it looks cool, he`s really light nonetheless. I`d post some pics but my lame arse does not have a digital camera yet. I`m currently in the process of doing it to 4 more figures as well.

Bleach and chlorine from pools totally eats away the plastic. Believe it or not, M.U.S.C.L.E.s hold up in the Arizona sun, they just fade very fast.

I just got down from my roof. It's been one day and I have already noticed a slight lightening in the green color of the figure. He is a brand new figure, so he is very bright and vibrant in color. But the shade is slightly lighter today, believe it or not.

Okay, here are the pictures as promised...

This one shows the green #61 tied to my whirly gig on my roof.

You can already see he is slightly lighter than a brand new Green M.U.S.C.L.E., which he was when I put him up there, in only a few days of Arizona sun exposure.

As you can see, I put a cloth under his feet to protect him from melting in the blazing sun of the summer when it hits in around three months or so. The figure is constantly spinning for a uniform bleached result in the end.

And here is a close up of the figure and his retaining strings that hold him upright and sturdy. I have tied a string under tension across the whirly gig. I simply placed the figure under the tight string, which holds him in place.

I was right. I ended up taking a chlorine tablet and putting it in a little margarine container with water so the solution would be concentrated as hell. I let the figure sit overnight in the super chlorinated water.

The next day he was WHITE!!! That's right folks, a completely white M.U.S.C.L.E.!!!

I didn't know they made a Donny Osmand M.U.S.C....... nah... that's too easy!

I will be posting progress shots of this figure as time passes. Probably once or twice a month, depending on how fast this guy bleaches. I am anxious to see what he looks like at FULL WHITE!

yeah, when it's mostly white, you gotta' cut him in half down the middle and see if he's still colored on the inside.

I took the figure off the roof for a comparison shot next to a mint green M.U.S.C.L.E. figure. Note that the lighter test subject (M.U.S.C.L.E. #61) has only been on my roof for 12 days!

It has been twenty days since the experiment began and the figure is still considerably lighter than the last time with the comparison picture.

Well, it's been one month and six days since I first put the figure on my roof. He is lighter than last time. The lightening process has slowed a bit though. It looks like it may take a while for him to become 100% white! Check out the attached pic!

He's actually more of a turquoise color now. Sweet, a new M.U.S.C.L.E. figure color!!!

How about putting him on tin foil rather than white carpet? You might get muscle goo though.

That's what I am afraid of. I put him on the piece of wash cloth towel to shield his feet from the scorching hot metal if the whirly. I don't want a melted goo M.U.S.C.L.E.

Well guys,

It has been all summer and the test subject M.U.S.C.L.E. figure #61 that was on my roof is still the same turquoise color that he was in the beginning of the summer. It took only about a month before he was as far away as he was going to get from the brand new green that he started off as. The figure lightened up considerably, but never turned completely white like I had hoped. I guess turquoise is the closest you can get with sunlight.

I'll post pics of him in comparison to a new green figure as soon as I can.

Yeah, even in the intense Arizona sun with temperatures up to 120 degrees, it still didn't turn white.
