I still stand by calling them Soupie Rares

Seconded! ;)

Sounds like a rarity system is starting to coalesce for MUSCLEs. What does everyone think of this arangement:

  • Common: All poster flesh and colored, except for purple #153.
  • Uncommon: Satan Cross(?), purple #153(?), ring figures(?)
  • Rare: Black Hole Sunshine, Spinning Head Ashuraman
  • Soupie Rare: Magnificent 11, 4 colored SR, Chainman, Drunken Master, Black Emperor
Such a configuration would still make Rare quite rare compared to some other collectibles with an established rarity system. For example it would be far easier for me to get a hold of Sulfurous Springs than a BHS, though it's probably a poor comparison example.

I think a serious classification of all figures (to include SC, SHA, BHS, and the Super Rares) would have to include Veers' work on his system. Many people are going to disagree that Purple 153 is the only rare color figure; however, will agree that it's one of the most sought after figures (if not the most), is hard to find, and hard to find a collector that is willing to part with it.

I personally think the Purple Claw can go between the classification of SHA & BHS level with the Super Rare level because of the rarity of the figure (there are multiples out there) and the fact that if one finds a collector who has it, well good luck on getting that person to part with it. It commands a hefty price/trade.

Thanks. ;)

I am inclined to think that, for classification purposes, it is better to look at the figures in two ways: (1) poster figures; and (2) non-poster figures. The non-poster figures deserve a unique perspective because the most attention is directed to them; in addition to the least amount of collective understanding and available, correct, information. Misinformation currently rules the "SR" world.

EDIT - As a side note, I don't think the #153 Purple should be a Class A figure due to the quantity of known examples. However, the desirability of the figure easily earns it a Class A ranking. Vette is right. It would probably be easier to get a SHA or BHS instead of a Purple #153. Maybe even cheaper these days too!

The past sale of BHS is a perfect example. I feel Purple 153 commands more than what BHS went for. Also, when was the last time someone saw Purple 153 on Ebay?

BHS wasn't that long ago, and since I've been a member of LRG I've seen three BHS, two or three SHA for sale, and zero Purple 153s for sale.

Although I stand by calling them Soupie Rares, in intellectual discourse, deferring to veers' system is the best. No one should follow my classification system but me :notme:

I feel a bit sheepish that I hadn't had a chance to read the guide yet, and didn't realize Veers had put together that rarity system. Attached File  Sheepish.png   72.02K   0 downloads Sorry, didn't intend to be obtuse or ignore your work.

Does the FAQ document who owns what & quantities of each? that would be nice to know

PS - I don't think the purple claw is that rare just because it hasn't been around that much. does anyone have a moc bhs or sha? I think they were pulled due to choking hazard worries, makes sense- so it would definitely be more rare than a color variation of the claw.

I have to agree with Vette on this one. I also been on this board for a few months now and seen several "so call" SR's now. SHA and BHS and I been collecting MUSCLE's almost a year now. Also, I didnt know nothing about Chienowa Man/Chainman last year till I join this board.

What Im saying is I have never seen a Purple Claw on any auction which I think is much more rarer the SHA and BHS.

For the most part. It isn't 100% up to date though.

On the purple claws, there are less known purple claws than known BHS or SHA figures.

I have zero intentions of getting this SHA, but here is an email from the seller:

Dear vettes1988,

No. Sorry I don't have the head to that figure, it was lost. What is
pictured is what I have.Sorry, I have no idea.

- chilldude360

The no idea is related to me asking the person if he remembers how the SHA was packaged when he bought it.

If someone here wins the headless SHA and wants a head for it. You can get a reproduction head from TGB. It wont be 100% original but it completes the figure.

I got the package today. The seller sent all of them in a priority mail envelope, and it split open
Only 59 of the 87 MUSCLE men made it to my house, but thankfully SHA made it!

Is it fair to ask a 50 cent a piece refund on the 28 missing muscles given he put them all in a cardboard envelope?

What a dummy  I think it is totally fair to ask for the refund. In fact you did not get exactly what you paid for. So why not? Next time he will ship in better packaging.

I am glad SHA made it, but yeah, definately ask for a refund, what a dope to send it in an envelope. When I do that, I at least throw the muscles in a freezer bag, damn. Grats on the SR too.

Didn't you pay about $1 per figure? Ask for a refund of whatever the per-figure price works out to be.

Yeah but I don't feel right asking $1 a figure when the high price is because of the headless ashuraman who was worth at least half the lot, so I was just going off the regular value on muscles of 50 cents each.

Dude, the seller doesn't know that. Plus, there's the principal of the thing. If you buy something on eBay, the absolute least thing they can do is ship ALL of it to you.

Now something getting damaged in transit is a different story altogether.

You can ask, but really, it's the post office's fault that they split the envelope.

Now if it wasn't sealed properly, it would be the sellers fault.
