Haha... um yeah.... I wing it and bring in techniques from all kinds of stuff I worked on from throughout my like... heck I learded dry brushing while working on ceramics with my mom when I was a kid. The flames however were built up using "Water Effects" product from woodland scenics. Originally for model train scenery & I used it for terrain built for table top gaming. First painted the skull with silver & shaded with a metallic brown acrylic. Then I sculpted the flames with a toothpick and waited for like ever for it to cure clear. Then it was painted with Tamiya clear yellow that you see hear. Vette mentioned adding some red... I looked at it & thought yeah... and maybe overpainted with a touch more silver, then I hit it with some clear red & then clear orange.... now that that is dry... I think I need to blend it in with just a bit more clear yellow in some sections.
Dude, I can't wait to get these figures, so I can see them close up.

Luke will also be adding red to the tip of the spear, and a little along the rope. This is to make it look like a blood splatter.

Information on how Sub-Zero was made to look cold:
Well.... that idea came from researching his costume... I found a fan made costume and the guy had painted a frosty effect on key points around the costume. I just thought that was the coolest idea and couldn't wait to have the costume mostly painted and finalized so I could add that effect. I think it kind of sells the idea that he is generating ice from within. Also having the subtle blue creeping from within on his forearms and adding bits of semi-gloss varnish on those points of the skin.

Torso and arms are really close, also have done a lot of refinement on the hands but they need the most work out of this part.
Head sculpted... might need some more refinement there. We'll see after I do some base painting to really see what it looks like.
Skull and spine.... think they're done!
Legs.... well the legs, feet, and waist are coming along... but partially I have to wait until the upper torso and arms/hands are pretty much done so I can attach the two and work more on the legs/waist/feet portion. Basically there are parts of the arms and what not that will be more difficult to reach after the legs are attached.
Also... was contemplating not sculpting the hair but trying out some fake hair I have on hand... guess I'll have to experiment with that and then temporary attach it to see what you think. That is if I can get it to look right.
That being said I wanted to let you know where I was at so far cost wise as well since this has taken longer than I thought to get this far ( way more work to sculpt this sucker than I thought). Also a lot of fun and really enjoyable piece.

Man, you could turn out some seriously gory/grotesque figures doing the MK line. I do admire well-done horror toys.

Yea, Luke is doing some really cool work.
Status of Goro:
OK more pics soon... I am almost completely done with the sculpt. Body is completely together, fine tuning a few bits. Missing from the sculpt at this point would be the hair and the belt/not quite loin cloth part. Need to get some good light so I can get some shots for you. Not much sculpting left the it's on to paint!!
Alright.... little more till paint...
Did some fine tuning sculpting on the body last night. paint black and drybrush white for a real look at the sculpt today. This is where I see what really needs work... lots of minor shaping with small files and sanding shaping all over the body face and hands/feet...
6 hours between last night and tonight.
He needs an all over couple more grades of sanding then I can sculpt his diaper (what's that supposed to look like from behind) add belt and thing on top of head for his top knot, then paint. Coming along a lot though.
