Now on to the judges breakdown and comments:
As you know, there were 4 judges, myself and three others.
Judge one ranked them as follows:
Ok, here's how I'd rank 'em?!
1. Kinnikuman ~ First, I'm a traditionalist! I like things that stick to the original! The colors were good, the accessories are terrrrrific! Overall, even though Kinnikuman isn't my favorite Character, he's my favorite action figure in this contest!
2. Ashuraman ~ again, tradtion! He kept the color that he should be, added some nice touches to it with different hands and arms! Overall a very nice piece.
3. Big Radial ~ Cool concept, like the 4 arms, very original. Would have liked to see it stay similar to the the original fig, but hey, he's creative! Lots of different ways to move him about which makes it a very interesting toy to look at! Paint wasn't the best by what I could see in the photos.
4. Buffaloman ~ I absolutely LOVE BUFFALOMAN! Excellent piece, HOWEVER, tradition is big with me, and I thought he should've been in the traditional coloring, brown skin, dark hair, etc... But I like the accessories, and the different things that you can do with him, but over all, the other pieces were better!?
All of these were good and made the decision process a tough one! Glad that your vote out ways mine, YOU DA MAN! But that's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it! Can't wait to see who wins!!! Everybody deserves to!!!
Thanks for letting me judge!
Judge two ranked them as follows:
RadialMan #1
Muscleman #2
Terri-Bull #3
Ashuraman #4
You should do one of these in the summer when most kids don't have school, no real holidays, and give them one month, say June or July.
Judge three ranked them as follows:
Hi, Johnny! Here's my vote for the Micro Action Figure contest:
#1 - Terribull
#2 - Muscleman
#3 - Tireman
#4 - Ashuraman/Sunshine combo
Judge four(me) ranked them as follows:
#1 - Muscleman:
What can I say, fully articulated, kewl paint scheme and the custom bowl of gyuudon. The joints are nice and tight and fully functional. The paint application wasn't the best of the lot, but overall this figure came out on top.
#2 - RadialMan:
Highly articulated, no extra pieces, but the added arms made him stand out. What I liked best about him were two things. 1, he was made from a kinkeshi, so he is a little more pliable, 2, the paint is freaking flawless (er, it was before I smudged a few places). So for best paint, good articulation and a kewl design, he plases second.
#3 - Buffaloman/TerriBull:
As far as kewlness goes, this one is the best, all the accessories (especially the skulls). Paint apps were good, better than Muscleman, but a little too much black wash. Cuts were more choppy than Muscleman, thus maikng to joints a little more flimsy (knee joints don't stay together very well). The red paint scheme is killer, a lot better than if he were brown. It brings to mind the Red Buffaloman Romandoh I have. 3 heads and custom sculpted large horns almost got this one second in my book, but it ended up in 3rd.
#4 - Ashuraman/Sunshine Combo:
By far the most unique. Decent articulation, but the knee joints don't bend all the way. No articulation on the arms, other than at the shoulders. Enamel paint was used, rather than acrylics, so the paint is still tacky and smudged a bit. Overall a great piece, but compared to the others, it ranked 4th.
That brings the points to:
7 - Muscleman
11 - RadialMan
14 - Terri-Bull
18 - Ashuraman
I am kind of bummed that there were only 4 entries, it seems that community participation is lacking as of late, even with some nice prizes. Last contest got zero entries, and the first custom figure contest only got a handfull as well. Any suggestions on spurring participation would be greatly appreciated.
However...
As far as a suggestion by one of the judges that I do this again in the summer goes, I will. So consider this your advanced heads up. I will post all the details this summer, but you have a good head start to begin your projects...
