On current value, I'd guess $400 is a safe bet.

That or a little less.

Great job on that one man. I don't even check anymore due to the competition. Good to see first come first serve, and a deal is a deal finally paid off around here.

Very cool story, and total dick move by someone else.

As for a market price, my guess would be right in the $300 range.

Yeah, that is pretty shitty. I'm sure had the phantom e-mailer won the auction, he'd have been just as sure to inform the seller about the toy's status.

I don't think there is a right or wrong here because it comes down to perspective.

From my perspective, I would agree. The SHA is now in "circulation." Before its appearance it was sitting in a basement and nobody knew about it. Now the collecting community knows about it. Our collective knowledge grew and thus we are aware of one more SHA in "circulation."

Maybe there's a better word, but I think it's about as accurate as we're going to get.

Agreed, let me rephrase that sentence. It means there is one more in existance so that makes more found. If someone found 20 in a basement and they all went to Smokey it would not be a good idea for him to let everyone know he found that many. Most people would then say spread the wealth and would hope he would sell them cheaper since he had 20 now and in their eyes they would not consider them worth as much any longer( cause they would hope to score one cheap thus decreasing the value). So, now that we know that there is one more out there it's not like the price goes down to 100 bucks or anything like that it just means there is ONE more out there and some may say it is not as rare or worth that much anymore. But like Veers said, it's all a matter of opinion and each of us value things differently.....

So Smokey, I will give you one million dollhairs for it!!

I always assumed that figures were in circulation until I got them. Then they were in The Void.

Well don't take me wrong here. I am one for semantics. Yesterday I enjoyed watching all the episodes of "Ask the Editor" at Merriam-Webster.com. As Veers put it, you are "aware" of the figure now, but that's not equivalent to being in "circulation." We're all collectors here, so when something is collected, that seems to offer up contrary views of being in circulation, and yes just in my opinion. An offer for an alternative word... let's see here... perhaps a word like "Visibility" (or a similar synonym) of said figure has increased, since this seems to be more about "awareness" of figures rather than how often they are literally being circulated.

Um, I think you are missing the point here. The person who sold this to him obviously bought this from somewhere, then sold it to Smokey, and now it ended up (circulated) in his collection for how ever long he decides to keep it. Who knows the history of this or where the seller got it from but never the less one more SHA out there circulated to him somehow and it could not have been sent to a better person. We are all glad for you Smokester so lets keep this thread about his SHA and not how to properly choose the correct word from a dictionary based on an opinion....

WTG

Snagging a super rare in a random Ebay listing or garage sale is the only way I will ever pursue another super rare. Its alot of work to preserve them, keep the handling to the extreme, and to keep track of their desirability.

SHA is a constant though. Doctor Bombay drops in value, BHS with peg attached rises in price, but SHA stays the same, as long as he keeps a head on his two shoulders.

If I ever found a Super-Rare in a garage sale or random auction, I actually wouldn't know how to announce it to the board. I mean, I probably wouldn't want to sell it (at first), but the sheer insanity of offers that would EXPLODE FORTH wouldn't be that appetizing.
