There is a small line of British mini figures called "Thingz". They may be based on a series of childrens edu-tainment books, I'm not sure I've only just learned about them. They're like monsters based on dustballs and old clothes and stuff, and they came in sets with titles like "Thingz... under the bed" and Thingz... in the fridge." They pop up on ebay once in a while.
Also, how about the Mighty Max figures? I know Max himself had a small base sometimes, but usually the other little critters that came with him didn't. (as a side note, I'm looking for Mighty Max sets, so if you have some to sell, PM me. :-D)

I was unable to find pictures of the "Thingz" toys. They sound promising! I'll keep looking, but if anyone can provide pictures, I'd appreciate it.
I'm also looking for pictures of the "Aliens" toys that Tortle mentioned, and the "Ninja" toys that pfisteria mentioned.
Thanks for all the help, guys!

While the Mighty Max and SOMA Ninjas are cool, neither is what I'm looking for. Thanks though!

Thanks guys! Ha, it's cool to see that this project finally came to life (thanks to Matthew Fitz' prompting) in the form of Toypedia!
yeah but the list above is scary* now that a lot of the non-qualifiers will be included!
I have a fair few to add soon (and some edits to make) but my camera is busted, I fell on it on some rocks! The lens now sticks out at a 45 degree angle!
*scary but exciting
