Will the gumball figures be available as a set to purchase, similar to the clear booster figures?

Just got mine from Japan today, they were very inexpensive since they are gumball figures after all and I had them shipped with other items so the shipping was negligible but mine came loose without the eggs and those eggs must be LARGE as these guys are pretty much regular Beast Saga figure size. I would recommend picking up the last sets saleen has to offer these seem to be sold out all over Japan already so you may not have another shot at them!

Yeah, I just got this photo of my order from my brother in Japan and it appears that my two gashapon sets came without the capsules as well.
Attached File  image_1357374117388819.jpg   923.31K   45 downloads

The order was fulfilled through Robot Robot for Amazon.jp; the same company I believe was selling this set on eBay for $32+free S&H but it looks like that has sold. Mine were ~$13 each.

Honestly though I wouldn't worry about not having the capsules; they're likely not any larger or any different than the normal Japanese gumball capsule as the figures come disassembled. I have a drawer full of them that I'll just stuff mine into. And as far as size goes, you wouldn't believe the size of some of the statuettes I've pulled out of gumball machines in Japan, and to my experience they're all relatively the same standard dimensons. ^_^

Honestly I've laughed to myself a little upon seeing people requesting 'original vintage gumball capsules' for the gumball BB figures from the 80's. Seems completely arbitrary to me.

Also, I noticed that Amazon.jp pre-orders are now up for BS36-38 (Armadillo, Manta Ray, and Frog). Release date is given as 02/07/13.

Next release after that is the BS39 vehicle on 04/27/13, which I assume will also apply to the BS40 blind boxes and 41-43 figures (Squirrel, Duck, Dog).

Unless that date changes it looks like March will be a cool-down month. (I sure as hell know I need one! ;) )

I was all set to buy some of these, but then I saw that lever in the back of the figures. It was then that I realized that these are for kids and not collectors. I'm gonna pass.

Kind of an odd comment. All but a very small number of the toys we talk about on this site are "for kids and not collectors."

Plus, there were a lot of people turned off by the dice launchers that found they didn't care about them once the figures were in hand.

I agree, that's kind of an odd position to take. This is a forum for toy collectors, right? Aren't most toys primarily geared towards children, with some appealing to adults/collectors as well?

For me the inclusion of the plunger does nothing to detract from the sculpts or paint apps of the figures. It does make them a little more annoying to display but I've come up with a viable aftermarket solution to this (which I'll be sharing with the community soon).

Yeah, I was bummed about the plungers at first. Also, didn't think they stacked up to the original Battle Beasts line from my childhood. All that changed the second I held the elephant and shark in my hand. I'm completely hooked on these now.

Anyone have any release date info on the Sofubi figs? Tfsource.com won't ship my tiger/panda set till my sofubi eagle comes in. The original release date was December 2012.

Amazon has them delayed until 1/12/13, the same release as the next round of figures.

I agree. I can understand the issue people have with the plungers, as I was very worried that feature would take away from the figures. But after getting them, the quality of the figures themselves made me forget about the plungers. As much as I love the originals and as big a part of my childhood as they were, some of these new figures blow the old ones out of the water. That may be a bold statement to some, but the detailed sculpting and paint apps speak for themselves.

Yeah, my comment may seem odd. It's quirky having that plunger. It's tacky. For a collector, it's functionality is useless. And because it exists, each figure has to be designed around its cube shape, which really shows on the hamster. I'm glad kids are getting these, but nowadays it seems toys just have to keep getting more and more bells and whistles.

Just to speak to the hampster's defense, I felt the exact same way when I first saw him. However after actually getting the figure in-hand he's somehow turned out to be one of my favorite of the releases so far. To parrot what others are saying here, there's a quality to them that somehow doesn't quite translate in photos. :)

I'm glad kids are getting these, but nowadays it seems toys just have to keep getting more and more bells and whistles.

Toy companies are always trying to find new games or gimmick to set their products apart from the competition, especially in Japan where quality sculpting and painting is the standard instead of the rare exception.
