2. I'm the one who argued for the decent dub names like Skullduggery and Rocky Slab.
3. I still think that 'Skullduggery' and 'Rocky' (which is the literal translation of 'Iwao') are more accessable to people not familiar with the series.
And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

Would it be possible to put their dub names in the translation but put their original names in footnotes?3. I still think that 'Skullduggery' and 'Rocky' (which is the literal translation of 'Iwao') are more accessable to people not familiar with the series.

Baoh and Guyver... seperated at birth?
Apparently Matto's partner in crime and also the originator of the "Mari is Akuma Shogun" and "Douche Suguru is Big the Budo" theories.

Anyhow, before I start the tag arc, Kinnikuman_Muscle was starting to get impatient waiting to finally make his make his first release. Since the scans of Scrap are still pending, and the Throne arc is still a ways off, he can't actually post either of them yet. In the meantime, he's started working on some of the bonus chapters that were included with Muscle Returns (since they were already scanned). I think he did a good job with the translation, but judge for yourself.
This chapter was originally written during the first few volumes, but it wasn't reprinted until the mid-90s as a bonus in Muscle Returns. It's been retconed like crazy, but what hasn't in this story? It's still a very important chapter.
Kinnikuman: The Early Years (also, be warned: may contain traces of penis)

I'll get to work on the Tag arc ASAP.

Cool. Good to know.We discussed it when we did the chapters: at the time the person doing it thought "Skullduggery" and "Rocky Cragg" were better names than "Kinkotsuman" and "Iwao", so we ended up with that. They have changed back since then.
I have a lot less of a problem with Rocky since it is a literally translated name, but again, I've always been a stickler for original names.3. I still think that 'Skullduggery' and 'Rocky' (which is the literal translation of 'Iwao') are more accessable to people not familiar with the series.
I'm not sure what you mean about the dub names being more "accessible," though.

"Rocky Slab?" he's made of rock. "Iwao?" you shrug and don't get any idea about the character.
"Skullduggery?" he's obviously skeletal, and not trustworthy. "Kinkotsuman?" well, you've got to know the japanese pun behind the name to actually appriciate the joke and name. If you've just started reading the translation of the series and havn't researched it, you wouldn't get the allusion to Kinnikuman being 'Muscleman' and
That was my argument. It failed after I stopped doing editing.
And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

I don't think anyone really went out of their way to get rid of Skullduggery and Rocky (I supported the second one, myself). It just kind of happened. That was my argument. It failed after I stopped doing editing.
Now how about we stop debating it and start talking about Kinnikuman: the Early Years.

My Japanese is far from great, but if someone can point me to some Nisei raws, I'm willing to give it a try. It'll take a while since I'll have to look up all the kanji.Like, Kinnikuman and such but I highly doubt besides me and Ataru no one else would bother translating them.

I think there was a site that was hosting them all, They had "Nisei" on there for certain. On a side note, I translated a chapter of Nisei from the later volumes like volume 23. The story actually gets better as it progresses but V-Jump is what I'm more interested in. I think that has a more satisfying feel to it, Since it's like G1's counterpart. Krandall I appreciate you offering to help and such but we got it covered. Nisei mixing with G1 and all this other stuff would only complicate things. It's best to wait until we're actually done with G1 then you start on Nisei or whoever else wants to.

Meanwhile, I know I screwed up one bit of translation and I just sort of hope it's not being scanslated in. I just realized that the "anchan" that the girl in Geronimo's tribe calls him isn't her name...but a way of saying "big bro" in Japanese. As if it didn't have enough ways of saying that expression. Further, I find it hilarious out of nowhere that among all the teams with these familiar faces that Harabote would just throw in, out of nowhere, these two cloaked, unknown weirdoes who literally call themselves "Hell Missionaries" and "emmisaries from hell"...shouldn't he have learned from the whole Devil Choujin disaster? (yeah I know who those two are obviously, I'm just making a point)

Normally I'd agree with you about going in order, but right now the priority level on the Nisei tag arc is "Maybe, if someone feels like it someday". (also, I got a bit sidetracked today so I didn't get a chance to start working on the G1 tag arc, so that error wasn't a problem yet)

Sounds great we'll probably be getting the Nisei V-jump series out there, with some more "old school" Choujin fights.

I'm guessing that girl is his younger sister. Who doesn't have a name because she's not important enough.
Also, perhaps Harabote didn't want to seem prejudiced? Besides, adding 'hell' to stuff is what all the cool kids are doing.

What prejudice? They have "hell" in their name, no one knows who they are (well Robin knows one...but we don't know that yet considering we don't even know who they are) and after two straight crisis involving Devil Choujin, why would he want to take a chance? My only real explanation: he probably thinks they're Ashuraman and Sunshine and is inviting them thinking "well they got away after Akuma Shogun fell so we just invite these two, they'll be revealed and we can take them down then". If only they knew they would be shooting themselves in the foot...
Chp. 211: Wave bye-bye to any further chances of Geronimo winning ever again...stupid Superman Road: http://mangahelpers..../releases/12045

Want me to add the Early Years to the website?
Yeah, Add it to the site in a (Specials and One-Shots) section. I'm finishing up another Special right now as we speak, So I'd like if we have a separate section for them, If you're cool with that. For the Specials and such add the front page as the cover for the chapter like how we have Kinnikuman Volumes and such like that, Thanks.

You may also want to put a short description of it and where in the story it takes place, so people don't accidentally end up spoiling themselves. (it's not an issue with this one, but the next one does have some spoilers)Want me to add the Early Years to the website?

Dude, I was just joking about that. Then again, sarcasm over the internet usually fails pretty hard.
Yeah, I suck with that too. Comedy on the web is hard to convey and no one really cares unless it's a line from an overrated TV show.

It's not non-canon.Make sure to note that the one-shot is non-cannon. That might confuse some people.
Chapter 209: A year ago, I never thought we'd ever see this arc translated.

That's what happens when the scanlation group cares. ;D
Somehow I guess we just have to make up for 30 years of lost time and all that jazz.
