That is actually a thing I wanted to bring up. All the characters in the anime have a signature weapon. Aldyle has a special sword, Bunikis seems to be using throwing knives, the Crab and Octopus both have special swords.

It's a little sad to me that the single packed figures are still drawing from the same 8 sets of weapons and they don't match the anime weapons. It's made even worse seeing how cool the specialized weapons look, all painted up, and how low quality the weapons are in general.

I get what you're saying and this was discussed before a while back. My theory is simply that these figures are primarily used to play a game, so weapons are likely an afterthought when it comes to producing these. I think that if they were released as action figures like the originals were we would see more signature weapons with each beast. If that was the case I think the weapons would be made of a more sturdy material as well.
I don't really care what weapons come with the boosters, but I agree that it would be nice to at least have a unique weapon with each painted character that's released.

I don't know why people thought Oruga was a Lioness. He had the same armor as Lioga, I was expecting him to be his little brother. Beside, I doubt they would sell a female character in a single pack.

Still it would be nice to have females for the other tribes too.

I think it was mainly because the paint apps on the face made the character look more like a female, as well as the card art (to me anyway). And seeing how the character looked with the same armor, although minimalized compared to the lion, and without the mane, just caused a lot of us to speculate that it was perhaps his queen or something since he was the leader.

Well that, and this is the first juvenile character to be introduced to this series or BB/LB. The thought honestly didn't even cross my mind. :)

No, this line has only been released in Japan thus far. There are several places that are importing the line, including BigBadToyStore, TFSource, and Saleen here on the boards. All three have pretty good prices considering they are imports, and I have had no problems keeping up with the line thus far.

We have heard nothing along the lines of a US release of the line. Although, it seems like the line is selling really well in Japan, so who knows what will happen. Hasbro has a great relationship with TakaraTomy, so perhaps there is hope that Hasbro might one day bring the line over to the US.

Ok thanks for the info. I'm guessing Hasbro is watching these forums closely for feedback.

Maybe. They're probably aware of forum-going Beast Saga fans, but we would be a very small pocket of the market that these would cater to, were they to come stateside.

I don't know if I would put much stock in that, the stock picture for volumn 1 and 2 had Lepermint and Seylas in it you know? Though there is that red text underneath him, so who knows? The Red Text in the upper right does say something like "1 of 6 Random species" which says to me that the Boosters are dropping from 8 different figures to 6, which explains the price difference in the cases.

Yeah, I figured it wasn't going to happen with that set, but wondered if others had seen it yet. Just like the randoms that are due out in March shows the wolf, when it'll probably be the doctor dog. And yeah, the first set supposed to have the walrus/fire lion.

Data seem to indicate sales in Japan are going well. I think Hasbro would be fools to not jump onto that bandwagon! I mean there's an anime and everything. Beast Saga could easily be the next Bakugan or Beyblade, probably even more so since the Beasts figure can be enjoyed as plain action figures of the show's characters.

I bet there's enough turn around time to get the toys in american packaging by next fall. If they leave enough leeway to the dubbing studio they pick they could get the show on the air for fall too. They would probably still be dubbing while they air but for a while Transformers Prime episodes were finalized TWO WEEKS before airing. Though it's a bit more likely it'll have to wait for next year :/

they only do signature weapons for the characters appearing in the starter sets. It's a tad annoying they don't even put THOSE into the rotation of the blind bag figures.

I have some informations regarding next releases.

First BBTS seems to be wrong about the BS-53 describing it as Random Booster Volume 05 and should be a vehicle in the same series than the BS-28.
The BS-39 vehicle will be amazing. Something really huge.
The BS-47 will be a 3 figures pack (starter) and not a vehicle.
Do you remember the strange BS-45 and BS-46 blocks ? They should be some kind of lcd games. I guess like tamagotchi or barcode battler.

More informations as soon as I will get them.

Found the maker of some of those effect parts he used.

http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?scode=TOY-RBT-1957&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3DEffect+part%24pagemax%3D100%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1

AmiAmi has a ton of them but they're all backordered.

+Rep for you; thanks for looking into that! The ones you found are apparently sold as accessories to the 'Danball Senki' series (Corrugated-Cardboard War-Machines), and I was able to locate those effect boosters on Amazon.jp and picked some up for a few bucks. The line apparently features a number of custom weapons and accessory boosters that come as unassembled model kits. The figures themselves are also pretty sweet looking considering how inexpensive they are; t he one pictured below is only ¥700 (~$7.50)

It really makes me sad to walk down the action figure aisle on TRU here to see nothing but WCW figures and whatever crap is being hauked for the latest superhero film, knowing that product lines like this are pretty much standard fare in Japan.

If that's the case that's horribly lazy! It's way too soon and we still got too many guys to see before they can start repackaging the same dudes :wallbash: Just a Dice Change Killer Shark and the Orca and Croc?! Couldn't they at least make it the crab and octopus? I'm not paying for that.

Yeah it's a really sad state of affair. Especially since movie toys are just a total waste of shelf space nowadays. They're not the same cash cows they used to be, at least not for the toy retailers. The movie makers get cash from the liscencing fees, but then retailers end up with wasted space when even cleareanced at 2$ they aren't moving those 'M Night Shaymalan The Last Airbender' figure. Even box office hits like Iron Man 2 or The Avengers end up with peg warming toys, so what chances do flops like Tron Legacy or Green Lantern have? At some point the retailers will wise up and the toy makers will loose money by paying too much for the liscencing fee. Movie toys still sell, but not in as much quanity as they used to. They also need to quit with the toys for stuff like Terminator Salvation which no kid will actually see.

The future of the toy aisle, at least for now, is obviously in the fusion of collectible gaming elements and toys, like the success of franchies like BeyBlade and Bakugan has show, as well as properties based on video games, like all those darn Angry Birds products. Basically toy companies need to go back to the 80s, i.e. create a franchise and then sell it through a toy commercial TV series, making their own success rather than hope some big studio property will move units for them. In that optic I think Beast Saga is ripe with potential for North America.

Now to be fair to the Japanese market, delivery cost are much lower since the contry is extremely small with very concentrate population, so it all factors into the cost of toys and how much room they got. There is also a much bigger 'DIY' culture in the Japanese toy market with model kits being a big thing.

It's not lazy, so much as cost effective and expected. I'm a little surprised they aren't repaints, being Takara, the reuse of molds is really just something I was waiting for, and will pass over like these tiny bases and vehicles. The new dice is kinda cool. Not enough for me to buy them, but still. Also, Aldyle may get his Anime Weapon as part of a Starter Set.

Blah... yeah that is kind of disappointing; I wonder though, if they'll be giving the Croc the custom sword as was seen in the anime? I'm thinking this probably wasn't the intention, as the Orca was already released with a custom weapon and it seems they'd release at least two other single-card figures that came with generic accessories along with the 'leader' figure. I'm just guessing based on the pattern we've noticed concerning the accessories for starter-set releases so far, but who knows. Also curious if the cards will be different in any way?

I guess we have to keep in mind that the main marketing point for this game to Japanese youngsters is the battle/game aspect, and I'm guess that this rotating dice gimmick was something that they came up with after launch, and will likely try to attach to the previously released figures. I don't expect that everything Takara releases in this line will be worth the expense to import; I just hope this doesn't affect the development of new sculpts too much.

Yeah, as much as I love these figures, I can't say I'm too thrilled that this is happening already. I guess I can (kind of) see the reasoning behind it given the fact that these are a part of a game, but spinning dice aren't enough of a motivation for me to grab this. If it was a set of repainted figures that would be a different story. We already saw an alternate paint scheme for the crocodile last summer...that would have been cool.
