I dont have any original Boglin figures and am considering getting them. How do these new release ones compare to the old in terms of sculpt quality?

The new mini boglins are a bit larger and a rough looking compared to the old ones. They're still pretty cool in my opinion.

Yeah, that's... not good. Kind of kid decided to add detail with a Sharpie level of not good.

Yes the paint job is not doing it for me, and actually the level of finish on these new boglins has been pretty poor in my opinion.
They have not been cast particularly well, the scale is off compared to the original mini boglins, and the material is just not a good. Grainy and flaky and lackluster.
The sculpts themselves are nothing special, and all four kinda look the same to me, no character or humour in them really.
I consider these new objects as interesting art toys released by the sculptor of some of the originals, but personally I do not view them as mini-boglins, and have no desire to collect them in their current state.
I have two and they serve as interesting curiosities, but they are vastly over-priced for such poor production quality.
Toy rant over!

I have 3 out of the 4. The size and texture is what I was most bothered by. I really wonder why they decided to go with that weird, grainy, too-hard material, and the bigger size in relation to the old ones just seems like a big oversight. Not sure what the thinking was there. I wouldn't have cared too much had I bought them for $6 or whatever it was at the show where they first came out, but for the prices they were sold at online, the quality and attention to detail is sadly not there.

Yeah. They really shoud have gone with a material a bit more similar to the old ones. My new 30 dollar mini boglin came with only one arm attached... That wouldn't have happend with the old, softer ones.

The impression I get is that, while Tim Clarke is obviously a superb sculptor and designer, he is very much a novice caster.
Quite why that part of the production wasn't farmed out to someone with more experience in that area, I don't know.
Ah. I actually didn't realize he cast them himself. Yeah, the material and quality control issues could have probably been easily avoided if he got someone else to do that part. I don't really have any gripes with the sculpts, aside from the larger size.
I noticed the colors aren't consistent either. The pink one I have seen in a range of pinks, from very pale pink to a raspberry color. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not.
What I'd get most excited about would be new factory-produced Mini Boglins.

Tim said that they would make a comeback, so i assume they will be factory produced!
