I've gotten some moldmaking material, and I have a Base-M.U.S.C.L.E. who will be donating his arms and legs to making El Pyramydo. I'm playing with materials on how to build up the pyramid design, and I definitely want to texture the surface. I'll have some WIP pics this weekend, as I have more time to work on this project.

I have some time saved up with work, might just try to pick a nice day and work with it.

I'm glad you guys are getting excited for this. That tells me that the design is solid, and it inspires me to continue with the project.

I don't want to let you guys down. It may take a little while, but I think I can have it ready to go in the next few weeks!

Since this project was announced, I have come up with several ideas for monofigs. So far, I have completed sculpting three of those concepts, and am putting the finishing touches on a fourth.

Now my only problem is deciding which sculpt to submit, haha. I am thinking that I shall just send in all four, and let the caster decide which one to use.

well, I do have an art degree, so I should be okay.

sure, my prelim sketch is poorly rendered, but it was done between calls at work, and roughed out in less than five minutes.

I mostly do computer work, coloring, animation, video editing, etc. and three dimensional stuff (casting, molding etc.)

i wasnt directing it at you, more in general... It would suck though for some to get their hopes up and say theirs isnt good enough. Just a thought.

Seriously though, sculpting figures on that small of a scale has proven rather difficult for this cowboy.

Yeah you really need to be able to sculpt bigger and shrink 'em! I did a mash up figure I may enter... think I need to mold it myself first in case anything happens to it in shipping... plus does anyone know if originals are intended to be returned? Really want to send something... but am really buried at the moment.

It's easy to sculpt small and blow it up, but it requires very expensive equipment to sculpt big and shrink.

Yes loss of detail + cost of material to do just one cast to make it a little smaller which would again negate the point of not buying expensive equipment.
No, one would not make a bunch of molds and casts just to make something smaller.

Eric.... that stuff might be worth a shot... wouldn't be the first time you pointed out something else I should spend money on while I'm still in the hole for what I already have... but yeah.

began work on Pyramydo today....by mocking up a card model of the body.

next step will be doing it in a durable (moldable) material.

gotta find where I put my styrene.
