This is going to be NUTS!

I will post my top 5 in the voting thread, but in the discussion thread I think I will post my process of elimination.

The good news is even if they don't get another submission, they have enough solid concepts for 2-3 more series.

Yep looks like it mate, my 2 top faves were Number 79 EYEGORE & 153 CRAB CREATURE (Looks like just 5 made for Series 2 then as you only get 5 votes)

I'm fond of the snake girl 406 myself. The face in particular is almost like a lost forgotten M.U.S.C.L.E. And the line needs a female or two.

I understand that the people who sculpted spent more time, but all in all, I just picked the top five photos that I liked the most.

It's not sculptor's snobbery that I speak from, but a lot of the blow-off designs that people threw out there would get weeded out that way.
I mean, I sculpted one of somebody else's concepts, just because I liked it... I think if there was a concept thread that ran for longer, and an actual submission thread that ran for shorter (That actually had guidelines for how they expect to accept submissions), then I think that would prevent the submissions from totaling 400+ ideas.

I really like that one, too. I think good female concepts are tougher to nail for this type of line for some reason, but that one works really well. I am also pulling for Jack o Lantern guy (#42) and Puke Knight (#357). Still trying to decide who's going to get my other two votes.

Remember alot of the entries were soley submitted due to the hype of the line, and the promise of possibly getting your design made. I'm sure next time we might only see a few hundred entries.

I tried opening up a discussion in the OMFG thread to get the community juices flowing on some voting ideas a while back, but George kind of stomped it into the mud. Don't know why, guess he just wanted to make the decisions himself, which is fine I guess.

I hope there isn't shenanigans with ArgoStar25's first post on the board being 5 votes for different designs by GM2010. I don't see George limiting the voting to people with a certain number of posts on the forum.

Some pretty cool entries in there. Wish there was a better selection process. Maybe the OMFG guys could have narrowed it down a bit to the ones they liked, then showed the rest. Maybe I'll submit some ideas for series 3. Or hold them for my own LRG line.

Well, an easy way to narrow it down, if they continue with the current format, would be to let the current voting run it's course, and cut anything that didn't get a vote, or at least 2 votes. then have another vote to pick the top 5 from the following group.

Well, I can see why they might have chose not to do this. They didn't really set any specific rules or guidelines out to start. So the first and second series of submissions really were just being winged out. I doubt we will see such a big mess next time.
If they had weeded out entries prior to voteing, I believe we would have heard alot of ill remarks about bias and favortism. Best to just let this one ride out, fix it as it needs it, and learn from the lack of foresight to better the next process.

I agree the double posts are a complete waste, only one design per character would work best.
Thats why all the scorpion girls were omitted, except for one.
Also, I think there should be restrictions on new members with only 1-3 previous posts...

So I started with 70+ that I really liked:
8, 11, 20, 25, 36, 40, 42, 46, 49, 54, 55, 57, 61, 65, 79, 91, 100, 102, 104, 113, 116, 117, 120, 121, 122, 123, 125, 126, 132, 134, 138, 144, 146, 150, 152, 154, 169, 174, 177, 179, 180, 185, 187, 190, 191, 196, 215, 237, 254, 256, 303, 305, 312, 317, 323, 327, 330, 334, 350, 370, 381, 384, 392, 393, 398, 399, 405, 406, 409, 411, 423, 426, 427, 428, 436, 448, 452, 456

Out of those I trimmed it down to:
11, 36, 42, 65, 79, 91, 102, 104, 113, 116, 121, 134, 144, 154, 169, 174, 177, 179, 190, 237, 254, 256, 334, 350, 392, 393, 405, 409, 427, 427, 448, 452, 456

And then, tried to pick my top 10 from there. I failed an ended up with 15:
42, 91, 102, 116, 134, 144, 169, 177, 190, 237, 350, 392, 393, 452, 456

Now for the final 5....
134, 169, 177, 237, 456

I left out 102, which would have been in my top 5, but as it is unfinished, I will vote for it in the Series 3 round.

Such a hard choice.....

I agree with you pointing out drw5656's votes. Nobody wants a tainted vote. I counted 7 first time ever posts in the voting thread on the first day of voting. I get that some people can be into OMFG and have no interest in being a big part of the forum, but it just looks bad.

Edit: Add RnR Express and Rdragon's votes to that list. Joined today and 3 common votes between them back to back.

Yep, looks totally sus. I hear what you say about not wanting to be part of the forum, but to vote for the first time posting is bit lame.

Edit: would be a real shame if people were creating multiple memberships, posing to be other people and voting similarly just to get numbers up...
Takes the honesty out of a public vote and spoils the fun!

I sent George a PM about it. At the time I sent the PM, there were 10 users that voted that just joined the forum yesterday or today. There is already another 2 since I sent the PM. It's to the point that I'm noticing the joined date and number of posts more than the designs being voted on.

If someone is into OMFG but doesn't want to be a big contributor on the forum, they would have at least joined long ago to keep informed on the artist proof releases and whatnot.

Even if the new accounts are real people, nobody should want to get their design made just by having their friends and family join and pad their votes.

Some of those designs are terrible! Why do some people even bother? We can't all be artists. That's why I don't do customs, because I can't. Some people can. Some people are EXTREMELY talented. Others...well they should just realize their stuff sucks and not clog up the submissions.

Obviously, people are creating new accounts to get their favorite submission to win. What a bunch of idiots. There should have been some kind of rule like what we do for Forever Contest. Member for so long and at least 10 posts.

Anyone who would create multiple accounts for that purpose seriously needs a life! And somehow must not realize they're being obvious as hell.

As for the huge amount of designs: while it would be hard to argue that many of them are much more than scribbles, it would also be really tough to regulate what is "good enough" for voting and what isn't. It's so subjective. Something that someone thinks is crap could be a favorite of someone else. So it doesn't bother me that there are so many designs, but I do wonder where some people are coming from with designs that look like they'd belong to a completely different toy line (I could see many of them being larger, fully-painted action figures).

So far it seems like that evil robot baby has the most votes. Awesome sculpting job, but I couldn't get past my general dislike of evil robot babies enough to vote for it. :D

Yeah, the jack-o-lantern sculpt that is pretty popular started out as one of the more childish looking submissions. It did get a boost from monsterforge's re-design of it, but it's cool that the simple idea of someone that obviously isn't an artist got sculpted and is getting votes.

I'm surprised by the lack of votes for #265. It's already a fun looking sculpt and I think it fits in well with OMFG. #122 by Eric Nilla is my other favorite that I thought would get more support.

I'm not a fan of the evil robot baby one either, but I knew when I first saw it that it had a good chance to make it.

I have to disagree, I think there are a TON of incredible figures there to choose from. Unless the votes bring in some of the "not so good" concepts, I think S2 will be a bigger hit than S1. Also, I hope that they release S2 and S3 really close together, if not at the same time.

How much money do you think we have lol, I dont think that would be a good idea. You dont want overkill on the figures I think its better to wait and have the build up to the next release. As they do with consoles, they dont bring out the next big thing the very next day......
