I am just hoping that (even if none of mine get selected), that the coolest figures/concepts win out over some of the less inventive sight gag pieces.
I definitely voted for the atomic baby, but I think having more than one novelty gag in the line-up will dilute the line.

That is just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

I agree with you pointing out drw5656's votes. Nobody wants a tainted vote. I counted 7 first time ever posts in the voting thread on the first day of voting. I get that some people can be into OMFG and have no interest in being a big part of the forum, but it just looks bad.

Edit: Add RnR Express and Rdragon's votes to that list. Joined today and 3 common votes between them back to back.

Maybe they could enact a 3/5's rule.
The new guys votes only count for 60% of a vote.

One of the new voters is The Watcher, who is definately an active member here and other boards.

They won't do that, and I don't think they should. Sounds like I was wrong in assuming the influx of new members would come after series 2 is released. I don't frequent other toy blogs to know how much the series 2 voting is being mentioned in other places. It makes sense that it would bring in new members now. A couple of them still seem suspect, but it is what it is. I think all the votes will count.

I'm still not a fan of campaigning for votes and would rather it be decided by people that followed the entire submission thread, but maybe something good will come of new people picking the 5 images that jump out at them with no discussion involved.

Hey guys, yeah I am one of the new accounts that opened up at October toys like Pimp said. I registered because I supported Series one and wanted to be involved in series 2 voting. Not trying to be suspect at all. I just belong to so many forums. Lrg and other sites tend to revolve and meet my needs more as far as to what I collect. Up until now I never really had a reason to sign up there. I hope my vote isn't discounted as in a way that's punishing new guys for just wanting to be involved in the voting. Maybe trace ip's and see if multiple new accounts aren't coming from the same ip?

Sorry it was a joke, a bad joke but still a joke.

The US has a history with 3/5's vote law.

Yep...

Voting is open to anyone, no matter their post count. We welcome new people who may only want to join to vote. Some people don't use forums, and that is ok. There were a lot of fans who backed the kickstarter who are not forum members, and we would love it if they all came and helped choose the next line!

What we don't like is people making multiple accounts to try and up the votes on their favorite design. I was hoping that everyone around here was above board enough for this to not happen, but I did see it, and I am in contact with the individual to right the issue.

Please people, one vote per person. I know you may have a favorite, but let's all play fair and see how it goes! There is always a next time if it doesn't get picked this time!

The irony of shill votes (for some designs) is even if it worked, people may not want to buy the figures in the end because they suck.

The entire line could implode if the new series did not sell well. After that, there would be no more contests to push your unpopular crap on... Self-defeating behavior.

On another note, I wonder how many people voting will actually buy the new series? You could get a mountain of votes for figures that do not really appeal to anyone outside of the voting campaign. Is there enough purchasing power there to continue the line, or does the line's long term success require other websites (LRG, UofM, etc) to do exclusive colors which bring in a wider audience? What about orders from casual collectors?

EDIT:

I guess why I ask is that I saw the OMFG display at SDCC last year. Clearly they want it to be bigger than just people on the OT forum.

I think regardless of the final entries, people will be stoked to buy new figs in this line. I have faith that OT's foresight would find a way to make even the crummiest entry appeal to people in some way.

As for folks complaining about lack luster entries. Part of the community project was to toss out ideas regardless of your artistic talent, even some written suggestions were submitted. The whole idea was that if others with the talent liked your idea, that they could help further conceptualize it to something more feasible. But it sort of turned into a competition after the first 100 or so submissions.

Has anyone been keeping track of the top vote-getters so far? I've seen 113 (evil baby) pop up a ton and a couple other numbers, but I'd be interested to see what the top 5 are currently. Although it might be good that people don't have that information to be swayed by before voting.

If someone wants to copy all the votes and paste them into one long text blurb, like this:

123
456
12
23
34
56
123
etc,
etc.

then I can pop them into Excel and get a quick total.

I wouldn't post it on OT. I agree that it sways votes when you know who is leading.

Thanks for figuring that out! Two of those were included in my picks, but I do think all of them are strong (I know there are more votes to come so it can and probably will change).

Hopefully most of us here have already voted so the stats won't sway people too much.

Eleven is Shirtle.

I don't get this "affecting the stats if people knew the totals" stuff. Anybody can change their vote if they so choose up to the very last day of voting, and this isn't the kind of contest where everybody is gonna win. If someone wants to switch their one-off vote so that some tied sculpt they want gets the edge, good for them. That's giving them a more active part in the selection process for the final five out of the hundreds of entries. In fact, I've intentionally been waiting a little bit myself to see where the votes lie. Nothing among those double-digits besides Shirtle was a sculpt I was going to pick anyway, so... whatever.

I chose 406. That design screams LRG through and through. Attached File  omfg2-406.jpg   132.32K   10 downloads

So far, I'm not too crazy about most of the top votes, but they aren't bad concepts, and I kind of liked most of em. Shirtle is the only one I voted for that's in the top 5 so far.

I just think it'd be good for people to look at all the entries and vote for all their actual top favorites instead of just skipping to the front-runners and voting based on that. That way a design that's not in the very top right away could still have a shot.

That's giving them a more active part in the selection process for the final five out of the hundreds of entries. In fact, I've intentionally been waiting a little bit myself to see where the votes lie. Nothing among those double-digits besides Shirtle was a sculpt I was going to pick anyway, so... whatever.

Thanks. I screwed up and looked at entry #17 because of the number of votes on Shirtle.

If some that I voted for have no shot, I would edit mine to throw votes to ones in the running that I like more.

What I mean by swaying votes if people know the leaders is someone that was planning on voting BABEE #113 could think it's a wasted vote if everyone starts saying that one is a lock to make it anyway.

Cobra Chick #406 was my top vote too. Like URS, that is a mini-figure i'd just have to have!

Some of the current top vote getters - deadbeat and puke knight - were in my top 15, but not my top ten.

Oh man, DeadBeet was my last choice. I was at such a conflict between him and this guy.

I loved this entry just as much as DB....it was a toss up. Sucks I won't get to have my way completely.
