I made this for my Mom's birthday using a beading kit from Michaels. Let me tell you, beading is hard, back breaking work. It still aches from being hunched over the table pecking at the beads.

But at least I know my next project will go better. <_<

That's beautiful, midge. I love the glass stuff, especially Dichroic glass. I can't wait for a real red, though. Most of those reds are too orange for my taste.

Actually, I was referring to Gabriel Gonzaga, the mixed martial artist. He is a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu -- not known for punching or kicking at all. He was facing Mirko CroCop, a devastating striker from Croation who is (literally) world renowned for his deadly head kicks.

Mirko was the heavy, heavy favorite, and most thought he would win by KO in the first round. However, it was Gonzaga who smashed Mirko with a head kick which KO'd him instantly -- it was BRUTAL.

Mirko kicking someone else in the head.

I'll upload a NASTY animated GIF of Mirko getting SMACKED in the head when I get home. Check back soon!

Okay, here we go, but first a few disclaimers:

(1) The kick is TOTALLY legal.
(2) He was able to walk out of the ring by himself (after he woke up, heehee) which is surprising considering how he fell on his own leg. Ouch.
(3) I WOULDN"T be posting this if Mirko had actually be seriously hurt.
(4) No, this is not why I watch MMA. While KO's are AWESOME, I like "boring" matches just the same.
(5) And, finally, DO NOT click on the links if you are SQUEAMISH. The kick is MEGA BRUTAL!
(6) Oh, yeah, and before you feel TOO BAD remember that Mirko has done the same to his own opponents MANY times. He just gets a big, nasty dose of his own medicine, that's all.

First angle.

Second angle.

Part of the reason it is so bad, is that Mirko's reflex was to block a low kick... oops.

Wha-? Is that cat molesting the dog?

....Usually it's the other way around.

Anyhoo, this morning brought plenty of LULZ.

The building I work in is a warehouse, which was converted into office space by virtue of a raised floor for all the electronics and modular cubicles. Most of the people tend to wear casual clothing, because what's the point of dressing up? That and the building's physical state is pretty bad, with only one women's room and two tiny men's room (one which gets pressed into service as a women's room when the real one is off-limits because the maintenance guys are working on something.) (This happens a lot, BTW.).

So it's not surprising that the ceiling is in pretty hideous shape, as well.

With last night's heavy rains, came proof.

This morning, I came in, made my tea, and wandered over to a small group of people staring at the ceiling. Turned out that it was leaking, right in some of the cubicles. The night shift cleaning crew put some wastebaskets down, but failed to call maintenance for some bullshizznit reason.

Of course, my first thought was saving the computer equipment. So, Dave and I started to unhook stuff. In the meantime, the security guards came and fussed around. The one woman got a pole and decided to knock down one of the soaked ceiling tiles, reasoning that it'd be best to do it now, rather than wait for it come come down by itself.

Unfortunately, while she was in the next cubby doing that, I was still unhooking the computer.

I don't remember the next moment too well, except that the rainwater is some cold shizznit, man. There must have been a huge puddle of water on the tile and it cascaded down from the ceiling to the overhead bin of the cubby next to the one I was in, and finally landed on me.

Sigh. Of course, everyone was hysterical. What the hell, I was laughing too. Fortunately, my t-shirt wasn't white.

Heh.

I'm putting in for a Purple Heart.

Or at least a damn paperweight.

Whoohoo! My first-ever Nigerian Style Scam/Spam

Subject : Hope I can rely on you.

First, I must apologise to you for using this medium to communicate
about this transaction, though it is my great pleasure in writing you
this letter on behalf of my colleague and myself. I am Mr.Robert
Chavez, Branch Manager of one of the banks in London,United Kingdom.
As you already know, this medium (Internet) has been greatly abused, I
choose to reach you through it because it still remains the fastest,
surest and most secured medium for communication. However, this
correspondence is purely private, and it should be treated as such. My
colleague and I have decided to contact you on a business transaction
that will be very beneficial to both of us at the end of it. I would
be brief and direct to ensure you understand everything properly.
During our investigation and auditing in this bank, my department came
across a very huge sum of money belonging to a wealthy and now
deceased customer of our Bank who died on 25 July 2000 in a plane
crash in Gonesse,France. He operated a 15yrs life scheme with our
bank. The value of this account is Fourteen million British Pounds
Sterling (14million GBP). Since his untimely death the fund has been
dormant in his account with this Bank without any claim of the funds
either from his family or relations before our discovery to this
development.
Meanwhile the whole arrangement to put claim over these funds as the
bonafide next of kin to the deceased and transfer this money to a
foreign account has been put in place. Directives and needed
information will be relayed to you as soon as you indicate your
interest and willingness to assist us and also benefit from this great
business opportunity. We could have done this deal on our own, but
because of our position in this country operating a local account
would eventually raise an eye brow on my side during the time of
transfer because I work in this bank.
This is the actual reason why it will require a second party that will
forward claims as the next of kin to the Bank and also present a
foreign account where he will need the money to be re-transferred into
on his request as it would be after due verification and clarification
by the correspondent branch of the bank where the whole money will be
remitted from to your own designated bank account.
May I at this point emphasize that this transaction is a successful
arrangement, as an insider of the bank I have the capacity to monitor
that everything is going well. On smooth conclusion of this
transaction, you will be entitled to your own share of the total sum
as gratification. This share of yours is negotiable as long as it is
reasonable. Please, you have been adviced to keep this a top secret as
we are still in service and intend to retire from service after we
conclude this deal with you. I will be monitoring the whole situation
here in this bank until you confirm the money in your account and ask
us to come down to your country for subsequent sharing of the fund
according to percentages we shall agree upon. All other necessary
information will be sent to you on your acceptance to champion this
transaction with us. I suggest you get back to me as soon as possible,
stating your wish in this deal.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Chavez.
