Hey guys, I just wanted to give you a head's up.

Adam painted up three special OMFG UofM sets. I don't have pictures of all three sets to share, but I believe they are currently on their way to my house (or will be soon). I wanted to do something special for the upcoming Auction Watch #100 and I was thinking that at least one of these sets would be perfect.

So it's roughly two weeks away. ;) (I figured some good OMFG news was needed. Seems like OMFG is taking it on the chin these days.)

Can't wait to see!

Submission date has already passed. The link below shows the area you need to look at for the future series.

Ha. That dude would need 20+ more votes for his most "popular" design to reach the top 5. Sounds like George is squashing it.

Can't imagine being that shameless.

Yeah... That's dumb.
Still, I am not all that fond of a lot of the more cutesy designs in the lead.
I'm not shitting on the artist, or the design, really... I just don't get the appeal of the Shirtle. Especially when compared to the 1st wave of figures. Or the pumpkin... Oh well.

What a effin' joke.

GM2010 needs to have his sumissions pulled.

@iwao = If you think he won't find enough people the push his shit to the top, you're prolly mistaken.
He had 4 voter today and there were only 7 voters total today.
Plan on seeing more votes for his crap.

I trust that George wouldn't bother doing a kickstarter with Mag-Tut (currently 14 votes) as one of the five when it's obvious only 1 guy and his friends and family want to see it made. It will get more votes, and it will just add to GM2010's embarrassment.

It's been obvious since the restart of the Trade thread that they try hard not to turn that forum into a b****fest. I understand wanting to call out GM2010, but I trust that his POS designs won't be part of OMFG.

I think the reason the first set was such a smash, was because it was a completely isolated event! Most of us didn't start hearing about it till the KS was put up. I mean they had 40 submissions, mostly from folks who were already regulars to the OT forums. Not to mention most were already substantial artists in one way or another.

So my theory on the mixed reviews on series 2, is due to the complete turn around of situations. Tons of folks registered just to enter/vote. Alot of them were not even familiar with the forum prior to S1 KS. So alot of different ideas and preferences were sloshed into the mix, and I think the idea and concept of what OMFG was intended to be got a bit diluted.

It's like having a handful of guys fund and promote a local Star Wars convention for months, only to have nothing but Trekkies/ers show up.

I agree it got diluted.

People having their own ajenda kind of messed it up.

The original was more of a colaboration.

This series appears to be more of a pissin' match.
Who can win and get over on the next guy.

Sucks having a few guys that eff up the vibe.

You know, I've heard the Agenda thing a couple times. I can see that in the current situation. But it is kind of a double standard idea.

I mean if you DON'T want to get your concept made you don't submit an entry. Isn't submitting a design to get a chance at it being made in itself an agenda? I just don't like that word being thrown around like a negative thing. It can be negative, but not always negative. Like Garlic...It stinks, but it taste good on all kinds of SHTUFF.

I mean the collaboration thing is cool. But it doesn't work when you have XX amount of folks and XXXXX amount of designs. That's another thing that has been stirred up. The comraderie involved in the first set was buried by the agenda!

And before you say AGENDA!!! Collaborating can be to reach a common agenda. So agenda can be good, and encouraging..but also too many seperate agendas can keep the important work from getting done....

Crap I hope that made sense. BLAH BLAH BLAH YACKITY SMACKITY!!!!

The vibe of it becoming a competition more than a collaboration is only made worse by complaining about the voting rules and wanting to exclude new members from voting. I was guilty of that at first, but I got over it when it was explained why there are so many newcomers.

The handful of members over there that voted on series 1 and have a right to act like it's their thing and want to protect it don't seem worried at all about how the voting is going. Or if they are worried, they don't kill the community vibe of the board by openly complaining about it.

No rules or stanards is chaos.

Looking for the beautiful eutopian society where everyone is an artist and no one says anything that might be seen as negative died in the late sixties.
Welcome to Jones Town.
There is definatley a "different" vibe over there.

Yeah, the majority of the senior OT members are pretty cool and respectful. If they do have issues, they typically don't go public with em.

I try not to post too much of my opinion over there. Here I figure it's fair game though. For some reason everyone over here loves to publicly vent and retaliate! :woot: I blame the public schools.

Well, and to a large extent, I agree with those sentiments.
I like to think I understood the feel behind the first series, and the whole collaborative spirit behind it. Hell, that had a large part to why I offered to sculpt the rhino blasty design, and off the record, gave my blessing for somebody else to sculpt the hell turtle design. I guess I really admired what they did with the first series, and really wanted to be involved.
And, as you guys have stated, the whole process got diluted.
It seemed like after a certain point, everybody pretty much went into business for themselves, and that spirit got lost.

On a positive note, I made a few contacts during the whole schpiel, and despite my feelings towards how the whole contest/collab is turning out, I am still working on a few pieces by other artists. And, it's for no reason other than our love of toys, which is kind of the whole point to the exercise.

I dunno, I said my piece.

And, I love arguing with you guys. I love reading the spirited debates that go on here, and honestly, the fact that LRG has stayed a big happy family (for the most part) is what keeps me coming back.

I give up now, haha

I think after they get over this S2 hurtle that series 3 will probably get back on track with what this whole thing was intended to be.
I think keeping the official entries seperate from the concept topic will really help. It would be nice to see a vote on S3 where more than a handful of entries are well thought out and executed into Model form. It's a clever way to trim the fat.

I think series 3 will go smoother. I hope designs that got 0 or 1 vote aren't resubmitted, but I wouldn't expect any kind of rule on that. I'm sure it will still be open, but the official submission thread won't get filled with discussion. If there is a long submission period, there will always be a lot of designs.

The good thing about series 2 is it looks like there are 5 clear favorites even with some sketchy voting. I only voted on one of them and 3 of my favorites didn't reach 10 votes yet, but I think the top 5 stack up well against series 1.

I like the honest arguments over here too. LRG would be a great place for PimpNugget and GM2010 to go at it. OT forum, not so much.

I agree that George will keep veto any crappy crap from hitting the KS.

And this series is their sophmore slump. S3 will be better contained.

From the votes and what I'm being told is in the lead, I'll be a backer and buy the exclusives.

Not much to argue with GM2010 over.
Maybe we could have a scuplt off :starwars:

I'd buy a ticket to that. Although, we may need to make it a cage match, because GM2010 will probably bring his whole family.

Could this the Death of OMFG or do you think they will be able to pull through this Fascade?? It is becoming a bit of a joke, I dont think they realised what they had on their hands...... But saying that the line becoming more popular is really only a good thing.... No??
