That's pretty kewl. I think it looks like he's about to beat the crap out of the other guys.... like they are all knock-offs or imposters and he's the only one that is the real deal.

great shot man. also kudos for grouping them randomly for the comp, every time I put together a multi-color mono shot like this I always arrange figs according to the prismatic spectrum. It's like I can't help myself haha.

Thanks! Haha, you're not alone--I know one or two other people have told me they always have to arrange by the spectrum, too. I usually just put it in the order I think looks best.

ever consider wedding photography? haha arranging group shots is the worst part by far. Especially for me, no one ever understands why I want to organize them by size and color
ok not really

Congrats! Awesome Find Frank!
I am just seeing this thread now. Work and some minor health complications have left me little time to think about toys lately, but I'm glad to see another star monster turned up like I thought it would.
For those who now doubt the authenticity of the original figure, I understand, but have told the truth about the origins and ownership of the figure.
For those who question why I sold the figure when I said that I did not intend to: Initially I did not intend to sell it and being forced into a situation where I had to was hard for me. In the end I realized that giving my family a decent Christmas and not falling too behind on the bills meant more than a rare figure. Especially since the only reason I valued it then was because I found out it was so rare, not because I really liked it or anything. If you are doubting my figure was genuine because I chose to sell it at a time when my business went under and my family's only source of income was gone in the blink of an eye I don't know what to tell you. If you have a family I would hope you would do the same in my situation. Not only did I sell all of my toys, but almost everything I owned of value needed to be sold as well to get us through until I could find work including our only car.
As for the differences between the two, I assume they were all made in china and they might have had different molds for different runs and for different countries. The company might have ordered the first mold destroyed after the first promotion, not intending to then release them in neon? I don't know, but keep getting the word out and more of both types will surface eventually.

That's good enough for me. I hope life has gotten a little easier in the recent months.

Good for you Nik, although you really owe nobody an explanation. What a shame some people couldn't wait for your side of the story before making unfounded accusations.

It doesn't surprise me. You got two toys that have different markings. One looks like it was a mold fix and the other looks like it was carved. The carved one will always feel more suspicious. At least when people think in that manner, we tend to get less bootlegs / fakers in our communities because people will call them out a.s.a.p. It is a shame that people would jump the gun quick but that anxiety is better for us in the long run. Plus I like watching people do silly things lol

It makes sense that the two stars are different though. Neon Series 1 figures were an afterthought. It stands to reason that the second batch of star monsters in neon colours were an afterthought too, and would lack the production values of the original star monsters.
Having doubts is not unreasonable; calling someone a scammer and a troll on spurious grounds is unreasonable.

Interesting. The idea that neons are an afterthought & so would any neon star monsters is a valid point.
But, it kinda feels like MEG slipped when/if they produced the neon star troll/s. I mean, up until series 3 MIMP had really high standards in their quality and production values. That neon star for me, just doesnt fit the bill and it stands to reason why people are having a hard time accepting its authenticity. It may well be authentic, who knows. Im not calling anyone a scammer, but my gut feeling tells me the neon star looks a bit off.. hopefully, more are found in time and we'll get a better idea.
Except that the star monster was not designed to collect. It was designed to be mailed back to Matchbox/MEG in exchange for a bunch of MIMP loot. The star monster then most likely went into the trash as it served its purpose.

I think the ad on the package said the Star Monster would be returned with the loot, so it wouldn't necessarily be trashed. But yeah, they probably weren't making it with the thought of it becoming a collector's item, and it's not unreasonable to think that the mold mine came from either no longer existed or wasn't used for whatever reason by the time the neons were produced. At that point the branded star would be a quick solution for still doing the promotion.
In any case, I'm glad Nik has added his side to this topic.

maybe they just ran out of original star monsters by the time the neons came around and had to improvise

Are these figures made in an injection moulding tool? Or by another moulding process?
You can't fake Franks figure, give me a little more time and more damaged J-trolls and I could get one as good has Niks
If you are able to make one, let me know I don't mind a bootleg lol
