Thanks!

I’d love a good Lando too. I wish they wouldn’t have put that Luke in such a strange pose. The best thing Hasbro could do is make a highly articulated Jedi Luke. I don’t think this one will be it.

I like the new Han & Chewie too. I think it’s pretty fun that they are realizing 2 versions of Han. There will be a Blue and Brown Coat Han. I really think Hasbro did this to make people happy, instead of for a variant. The only thing that could upset me about that is if they short-packed one of the versions.

Have you seen the new Boba Fett? Lots of articulation. The best of the SW line yet!

Is it the one with flames coming out of his backback? I think it's called Pit of Carkoon Boba Fett.

If that's the one you're talking about, then it's basically a "re-do" of the 300th Boba Fett. But it's still a killer figure.

Well it’s time for me to eat my words. I like one of the Unleashed figures. Which one you ask? I’ll tell you, Jango and Boba Fett.

Why would I spend my hard earned money on such a crappy line of SW figures? I didn’t, my girlfriend’s aunt bought it for me. She saw it on clearance for $7.00 and thought it was a good deal. When I got it I figured it would be instantly returned to Wal-Mart, but I was just too lazy.

Then I decided I should just put it in my office, so I had some Star Wars thing there but wouldn’t have to worry about it being stolen.

So I opened the figure today and to my surprise Boba isn’t attached to Jango. I’m able to display Jango without the stupid Boba that is included. It makes all the difference in the world! The Jango figure is actually cool when he is by himself.

Here’s a picture…
http://www.rebelscum...nlfett_left.jpg

But try and imagine Boba isn’t there. I can’t believe what a difference it makes.

Hm! I didn't know that you could remove Boba. That would definitely make a difference in the coolness of the piece... But would you have bought the toy yourself knowing this?

Although I've been pretty cynical about the Unleashed figures, I do admit that some of them are pretty cool. I wouldn't buy too many because of their statue-ness, but they're definitely a gigantic step up from that Epic Force crap a few years ago.

I think the two Vaders are nice (I might actually buy the removable helmet one) and the new Leia looks pretty sweet. And if they ever made a cool looking Chewie, I'd buy it in a second!

Probably not. But that’s because I’m a completeist. If I had bought that one, then I would have wanted to buy the other ones.

And I have to agree with you about Leia, I certainly buying that one.

With Chewie my fear would be that they but him in a Darth Maul type set-up. He would be in some crazy position with fur flying everywhere. If they approached Chewie with a less-is-more attitude, then I’m sure it would come out pretty cool.

I’d really like to see a Wampa get the Unleashed look. They could have that thing going crazy, showing its teeth, maybe a little blood mixed in, with a TaunTaun carcass at its feet.

I also just thought of another Unleashed figure I would like to see, Boba Fett. But I wouldn’t want him in an action pose. What is we saw him tired or in pain?

Imagine he is leaning against a wall exhausted, or resting on his “prey”. I know each figure has had a theme (Pain, Intensity, etc.), what if his was Emptiness or Abandoned?

I just think it would be interesting to see a SW figure that is trying to evoke an emotion that isn’t necessarily positive or exciting.

What do you think Nathan?

First of all, I think your Wampa idea is effing awesome! A Wampa would be perfect for this format. It would probably be out of scale, though... I wouldn't mind myself, but some collectors might wine about it. Your Boba Fett ideas are pretty cool... how about a Boba resting on a fallen IG-88? I'm sure that's not consistent with any movies or EU, but screw it...

For a Chewie, I don't mind having some action happening with the fur (wind blowing or something), just as long as they don't freak out and over-do it. As for the pose, I'd like a "head-tilted back roaring" pose. Or, maybe a "Look out, he's loose!" pose where he's flinging off his chains and backhanding a Death Squad Commander.

I'd love to see a Jabba, but who knows if that would ever happen. Hell, we still haven't seen a ROTJ specific Jabba yet (besides maybe Jabba Glob), so I'm not too optimistic.

I'd like a Chebacca that's large scale... none of this G.I. Joe stuff (I never liked G.I.Joes, because they were small flimsy and expensive) I mean, something like the Fozzie Bear figure (Best compairison I could come up with, sorry)

I never did get into Star Wars figures for the same reason I never got into G.I.Joes... too small... I like BIG, Meaty action figures....

Thanks. :)

Hasbro should just hand the reins over to us. We’ve had a lot of good ideas, and plenty of criticism.

Jabba would be cool too. I think they should be willing to make big things, or make stuff out of scale. You know kids aren’t playing with the Unleashed line, so why not alter the scale?

I find their lack of vision disturbing. :D

Speaking of Unleashed here's pics of the new Han & Yoda...

I think Han looks pretty good.

Yoda looks good, but a little too angry.

Might as well continue this Unleashed theme...

http://www.rebelscum...iderfettunl.jpg

From what I can tell Boba looks pretty good. The most promising part is that the base is pretty original, it's not just a flat floor.

Han and Yoda I'm not too thrilled about. Yoda's sculpt isn't too bad (you're right... he needs to watch the dark side) but that spider-web motion lines look doofy. Han's sculpt is very nice, but his hair seems a bit too weird.

Boba Fett has to be the coolest yet! I love the base, and he's supported without any weird motion lines. Also, Boba's not really distorted like many of the Unleashed figures (like Yoda, Darth Maul, Anakin, etc). I may have to buy this one...

Where's Chewie, dammit?!

And here we see Hasbro's follow-up to Monkey-Faced Leia... Swoop Bike Anakin! :o

Posted Image
http://www.galactich...akinswoop_9.jpg

Man... that's rich... What was Hasbro thinking?! "Hey, let's give Anakin a 'soiled pants' expression!"

On another note, here's some pics of the convention exclusives, Boba Fett and Clone Trooper:

http://www.potf2.com...p?TOPIC_ID=2957

I actually think the Clone Trooper looks much better than Boba. Boba has sort of a dull, pewter look. I really dig the shiny silver of the Clone Trooper. Although that silver blast effect has got to go...

Yeah that’s pretty bad. But it makes sense that monkey faced Leia looks that way, that’s her father.

As for the 2 new silver figures, BORING! I know that the posted images are only prototypes, but why are they doing that? The silver Vader was special because it was different, and not readily available. The silver R2 was cool because it was different, and readily available.

But now it is tired and old. Are they just going to release all of the figures in silver? There are millions of special figures that could be done, and all they can come up with is painting figures silver.

Does Hasbro have no creative people working for it? Or do the “higher-ups” kill all of the daring and original ideas?

It has to be a combination of both. :o

I think the convention exclusives are, feh... okay. I wouldn't go out and seek them on Ebay, but if I was at one of these conventions I'd probably pick up a Clone Trooper. Shiny things fascinate me.

I think Hasbro is just trying to make a convention exclusive that takes very little extra effort to make. And, of course, fans eat this crap up. You're right, there are thousands of things that are cooler that they could do with convention exclusives. Of course, Hasbro is not going to make original sculpts just for conventions, but there's plenty of cool stuff they could do. For example, I thought the Jorg Sacul figure was a pretty cool idea. Or, maybe they could take current figures and plop them on classic-style cards. And not the TF Vader type of card (which sucked nuts, I thought)... I mean a card with a big, huge picture of the character and a logo of the convention.

Maybe for inspiration, Hasbro can look at other lines. Palisades has made plenty of awesome exclusives for its Muppets line, like Disappearing Ink Fozzie. And McFarlane has one of the coolest exclusives ever with its Stealth Predator.

You’re completely right! I didn’t really expect all new figures as exclusives, but they could be just a tiny bit more effort into it. Actually your idea of vintage cards with modern figures is great. They could repackage all of the unsold Mace and Zams and put them on vintage cards.

I’m telling you, Hasbro is missing out on top-notch ideas here. B)

Once again, this topic rises from the grave!

Okay, I've been seeing the Imperial TRU Exclusive 4-pack, and I've been pretty disappointed. It's great for people who have just started collecting and for kids who haven't had the opportunity to get some core characters, but for me, it's pretty much just the same old crap. I mean, look at that Imperial Pack... a Stormtrooper released years ago (and has already been rereleased as a Fan Club multipack), an AT-ST driver (with no AT-ST on the shelves for the past... what, 5 years?), another Vader that does nothing, and another Imperial Droid that wasn't seen on screen. And, all of these figures have either been released before, or are repaints. Hmph...

But I'll probably pick up that Hoth pack. Even though all the figures are repaints, screw it! It has an open-belly Taun Taun... with GUTS! Sweet! The Chewie looks cool, too... and he comes with a good bowcaster. The other figures are pretty much throwaway figs, but I'll probably keep that Luke for the Taun Taun. Maybe I'll have some good old-fashioned BB-Gun fun with the Leia and R2-Unit.

I suppose Star Wars isn't completely dead for me just yet...

I agree that the Imperial set is kind of a waste. Where is the play value for a kid? A lame droid, a driver for a vehicle that hasn’t been out in years, another Vader, and a Stormtrooper. I think this set would have been GREAT with 2 Stormtroopers, an Imperial Officer, and a fourth alternating Imperial (Hoth Stormtrooper, Biker Scout, or a Royal Guard). This would have given kids a reason to buy one, or more than one. It would have also appealed to collectors for its unique packaging plus the variations. I think swallowing repaints would have been easier in this situation. Plus the accessories with this set are a little bit on the lame side.

I feel differently about the Hoth Set, and Bounty Hunter set. The Hoth set would be a great pick up. There is plenty of play value because those figures and accessories easily interact with each other. Plus for the collector it offers a Taun-Taun with guts which is a first, even if the guts look like a repaint of the Ackley’s guts.

As for the Bounty Hunters all I can say is, “Wow!” This set is a really good idea, the figures are great, and it’s cool that it comes with Aurra’s swoop. The only change I would make is with Boba. There is going to be that Pit of Carkoon Boba on the market right now, wouldn’t it have been better to include a different bounty hunter? But I think the poses are quite different so I can let that slide.

Overall I think these are a good idea, and finally some slightly original thinking with Hasbro. Even if Batman and G.I. Joe has offered multi-packs for quite sometime.

Ha! I just finished reading this. Yup, this figure is worth me shaking my head ruefully at it, but nothing more...

Frankly, the 12" line as a whole sucks, and has sucked since it's inception. The proportions are horrible, the sculpts and paint jobs suck nuts, the cloth materials blow chunks... I could go on and on. The only 12" toys I thought were cool were the Taun Taun, 14" Electronic Vader, and Electronic Jango Fett. Other than that, the line is pretty much a waste.

Although the basic 12" Jar Jar was pretty nice. Seriously... it had a good sculpt and nice materials. So, Hasbro is capable of 12" coolness... but it's so very rare...

The Gamorrean Guard looks TOO cool, hands down the best one ever.

Watch it get short-packed and I won't be able to get it.

Yeah, I admit that Gammorrean Guard is pretty sweet. But I'm a bit disappointed in the paint application, especially in the face. There's a bunch of interesting colors happening with the actual Gammorrean Guard costume (especially around the mouth and nose) that the toy does not exhibit at all. That's kind of nit-picking, though. The sculpt is pretty nice and, surprisingly, the proportions are quite accurrate.

I wish Sideshow Toys would get the license for 12" Star Wars figures. Their stuff is so friggin' realistic that it's creepy.

-Nathan

EDIT: I just learned that the Gammorrean Guard is actually a KayBee exclusive. Hopefully, it won't be that hard to find.

Hey, this is something that I haven't heard anything about...

Ewoks 2-pack

I'm glad that they're releasing new Ewoks (I'm a big Ewok fan, and Hasbro has only released three unique Ewoks so far), but I'm disappointed with these figures. First, they seem to share the same bodies, so they're not unique themselves. That would be fine if the mold for the body was super-sweet, but the sculpting on these figures seems lacking. Second, the top Ewok's face looks pretty good, but Logray looks like crap! And third, we already have a pretty good Logray anyway... where's Chief Chirpa? A decent Paploo would be nice, too.

POTJ Teebo was an awesome figure with an excellent sculpt and good articulation. These two look like garbage compared to him. If they wanted to be cheap-asses and reuse body parts, why didn't Hasbro just use the Teebo body sculpt instead of this crap?

Unless I’ve totally misread everything, these Ewoks are part of the 12” line.

This however doesn’t allow them to look like this.
