Alex Trabek: "The answer is. I supposedly sold for the same amount as you can win."
Jamesullivan: "What is the Mysterious Partner Ebay auction?"
Alex Trabek: "Correct Jamesullivan, you win $5,000.00 and still have control of the board."
Jamesullivan: "WooHoo!"

P.S. That is how you talk around something, yet stay on topic, and still get the hidden point across!

Why do people talk trash about Alex? Because Alex has pulled trash on lots of collectors. If you would really like to understand WHY Alex has a bad reputation, start here:Why so many people talk negative trash about Alex??? He's not here to defend himself. If he's ever to come back to this board (which I doubt it) he'll get this disscusion straight.
I thought this topic was about the Mysterious Partner with the $5000 bid.
http://www.littlerub...mp;#entry200162
You are right, Alex is not here to defend himself and he will never be back here because he was BANNED for being crooked. But even when he was here, the only defense he offered was that it wasn't him, even though there is mountains of evidence to the contrary. The only way Alex could ever set anything "straight" would be to confess that he was a scammer and dishonest, apologize and promise that he will never be shady again. And that is never going to happen.
Marty, I understand COMPLETELY what you are saying.Chad & Jon, you guys are missing the point. I am not saying talk or don't talk about muscles he has sold, found or anything else for that matter. What I am saying is that when a thread about a ginormous sale is started to discuss and it leads to newbs accusing newbs of being Alex or it being an Alex bashing thread w/ garbage posts, that is when it is no longer a useful thread and merely a bunch of crap.
BTW, I am really Alex.![]()
![]()
Talking about Alex in a negative way only upsets people who would rather not read that, and they either leave or participate less because of the negativity.
But it isn't realistically possible to appease these folks, and here is why.
Alex has left such a bad taste in the mouth of most LRG collectors that ANY mention of him doing something is AUTOMATICALLY going to be viewed with suspicion. And any conversation about him is going to go downhill fast.
The only way to prevent that would be to ban all conversation of Alex, and that is not realistic.
You think newbs hearing about how shady someone is, is driving them away? Watch and see how fast they leave when a large number of their posts are deleted without any warning.
Alex will always be discussed on the board because he is still a very large part of the M.U.S.C.L.E. scene on eBay. There is no way to stop it. There is no way to "take the high road".
Trying to censor all talk of Alex on this board is impossible because of his exposure. And trying to keep conversation about Alex from going downhill is impossible because of his soiled reputation.
You will always have the newbs who have read about his exploits talking smack, while the newbs who haven't read about his sordid affairs get upset that someone is talking smack about him.
There is no possible way to do what you suggest.
------------------------------------------
So if anyone is terribly upset about Alex's earned reputation being discussed, please read his history:
http://www.littlerub...mp;#entry200162
and if you are still offended by talk of Alex, please don't read the Alex threads.
And if you don't find that appeasing, please feel free to go over to CheapToy
And we won't even say, "I told you so." How about that?

Yeah Marty, you seem the most bent over these Alex topics, why not just stay out of them. If we see something and smell something fishy, I think it is only proper to talk about it for several reasons already stated. To many people's displeasure this guy still has a major impact on our small community, and nine times out of ten it is a negative impact.

Luckily he's got you to defend him.

Wow Veers, I guess the thread above shows your maturity level.
Some people need to learn to move on with life. Like I said, NEXT ISSUE PLEASE.
TGB, thanks for your opinions.
Jon, by all means, if somebody screwed me like it appears Alex did to several people, I would be VERY UPSET TOO. I started collecting AFTER all this, and YES, Alex is one of my points of contact. He hasn't once given me a reason to be upset, and I doubt he ever will. According to people on this board, have I paid some pinhead prices for things to him? Yes, and I have paid some pinhead prices to others as well on Ebay ($100 for rubber packaged, 4 pack of SC). So what? I have no intentions of turning around and sell these items back at a profit. Many items I bought for trading for figures I want. Someone on this forum just got a heck of a deal (I made no profit) from me on figures I had extra of because they were in a collection that had an orange claw. I'm soley collecting because I remember these figures when I was little.
This constant bashing of people by Veers and others does nothing good for the LRG Community. There is already a thread dedicated to Alex and others that gives a fair warning for Newbies like me. An idea would be to have that thread more apparent on the home page (like a Stay Away From Seller). A special thread to those with an obvious name would do. That would help others to "move on," and if there is an update to the person, update the thread.

ANY CHANCE THAT VETTE88 IS THIS ALEX CHARACTER OR THE SHILL BIDDER AND IF SO COULDN'T THEY (VETTE88) CAUSE MORE CON'S ON HERE?
JUST PUTTING THAT THOUGHT OUT THERE - SEEMS ODD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A DEFENDER
LOL, you're funny!! Yup, you got me on that one. I highly doubt Alex has a 1988 Corvette (daily food intake are Ford Mustangs). Nice try. And if you think I have shill bid, please provide evidence. If you want confirmation of the deal that I sold figures, ask Sularis.

Gun
He's had plenty of opportunities to defend himself in the past , even after being caught on his first shady deals he didn't learn and did the same mistake again.
Then when given several chances to come clean publicly , he chose silence , and left the decision making to others.
read up on some past history of the guy you'll probably change your opinion.

Is it just me, or are you super paranoid?
Veers, I am sorry to say...this is the problem w/ posting this crapola. Just because some people have a different opinion of Alex, this particular sale, hell anything...now all of a sudden members that have only been on here for 9 months are accusing another member that has only been here for 4 months of being Alex. This is ridiculous.
TGB

typed it up in a reply to post and all,
but decided NOT to post it...
Why?
Because, kids will always be kids...
even when they're all "grown-up" and have little kids of their own...

Basically I agree with the banning of Alex, but I don't see the need for keeping a hawk's eye
on his auctions and deals, if he cheats, his bad, he will get what's coming to him in the end,
because we have a saying here in Belgium: "Eerlijk duurt het langst."
Which means: "Honesty lasts longest." Basically meaning that cheating only lasts for a while.
And then you get the lid on your nose. But this board has by now beaten his poor nose Claw-purple & senseless

Just leave the guy be, and tell new collectors here that he has been banned for good reason,
by bumping the dishonesty thread say once a month (without extra rant).
That and posting how much something is worth in your opinion is more than enough to inform
"the MUSCLE-community" and new collectors.
If anyone still pays more that's their choice, and yes possibly, their problem.
I'd say my 2 cents, but apparently Marty still has em...

Let's show the newbs that we're actually a pretty friendly bunch!

Well said. That idea or the one I recommended should be more than enough. It needs to be a thread that is easily seen/catches the eye.
