I had contact the seller. Said he was sorry for this whole situation and gave me a chance to buy out the lot. At a diffent price. At first, I didnt wanted to do any buisness with the guy. I was done, so I thought. A few hours later, I changed my mind and bought the damn lot. I just couldnt resist the purple claw. Still bummed out not getting it at a good price.
Theres no thrill in getting it the second time around.

Congrates on yer P-Claw.

$694.99 ! ! U got screwed big time
Item number: 200628741631

A typo my ass! He originaly didn't know what he had, period,
it was barely noticeable in the first pic.If he originaly wanted $694.99
he should of put the Claw up front and centre.
Get the P-Claw in your hands first and then get yourself a lawyer, and sue the greedy prick.
You had a binding agreement(ebay's rules)with the seller at $64.99 you payed,he should
of sent it at what u originally payed for it.

not that it is discounted. We as consumers are conditioned to think"On Sale"means it's cheaper.

The second should be to contact eBay with a claim for a $630 refund on an item you won fair and square the first time round.

That is still a good deal. Yeah, $600 more than what he originally won it for, but still a sweet deal.

Amen.
You should have contacted eBay - the seller had a legal obligation and a binding contract to sell you the item to you at the original price.
As previously posted, report them for non selling seller and have them investigate whoever sent the message telling them how much it was "really" worth or whatever they said! Other users cannot contact sellers and encourage them not to go forward with transactions. Total transaction interference!
Maybe even tell the seller you want the user ID of the ass hat that contacted them or you are reporting the seller to eBay and considering other options.
Send a message to the black hand that you are not going to put up with their $&*%!

I wished all this negative stuff would have happened to me, and I had the opportunity to buy a Purple Claw for that much. Trust me, you wouldn't hear a peep out of me any more.

Cesar originaly won it at $64.99 thats why I said "U got screwed big time"
screwed over by the seller. But ya he could also open a claim with ebay.
$600.00 more a great deal? jeez, for a piece of plastic?
I've got one of the biggest M.u.s.c.l.e. collections out here at most
I've payed is $25 for a figure that I really wanted anything beyound that
I'd consider myself nuts.Again i'm patiant and what I don't have will
eventually show up at a fair price(and misslabled

Ain't gonna tell another man how to spend his hard earned $$$.

Yes, $600 more for it is still a great deal.
1. Put it on Ebay, announce it here, and let's see where it ends.
2. Yes, he paid more than what he won it for originally. Yes, that sucks; however, in my opinion he still saved $300 - $600. The last one DID sell for $1000. Veers' ended at $860, and that was BEFORE Clawfreak mania took place.

I'm not trying to be the devil's advocate, but I'll trade spots with SG anytime. The Purple Claw is the Holy Grail for a lot more people than any other M.U.S.C.L.E. figure. This isn't due to some "self fulfilled prophecy" or whatever people want to call it. It's because many more people want it, period.

I agree that he still got a 'good' deal.
Nope it was not a fair deal, not at all. But in terms of the 'value' placed on this figure - I would have bitten off the seller's hand to buy it for $694.99!
Absolutely fantastic spot in the first place, SG - it's like a collectors dream to see the purple #153 just lying there in the backwaters of an auction picture!

Ya I know how much they can go for and how cheap too.
Ya for alot of collecters the Claw is considered a Holy Grail,
my 3 were #154-P-Ammonite,#51-Red-Canadianman,#2-P-Buffaloman,got them now.

As for my first nearly won,#2-P-Buffaloman(2 of them),I was the highest bidder
then POOF!seller retracked the auction and it was gone.2 weeks later 2 members
of this form had one, checked on the M.u.s.c.l.e.DB ,coincedence?
So I really hate those underhanded shinanigans either by the seller or by buyers
offering more off of ebay.
It would of been nice if Cesar got it for his first bid.

Who here would have bid that high on a purple claw?
But I agree SG, get the claw and immediately file a claim to get the $600 refund based on the first auction.

Well, unless there are newer collectors (or older collectors) still willing to put down $700 for a claw, it would have sold for less. In an auction, it takes 2 to tango. If SG was willing to drop $700, but bidder 2 would have been out at $400, in a regular auction format, it would have gone for just over $400. Just like anything else, once those willing to lay down crazy money have what they want, the price will go down because they are no longer competing for it. Even more so in a hobby like ours with a small number of collectors. Other than Alex, who tries to corner the market on anything of value in the M.U.S.C.L.E. hobby, I don't think there is anyone still willing to pay $1k for a purple claw.

Yup, once the crazy and pinhead collectors (I know I'm one of them)

Oh, I'll say this too. Things work out my way, soon (like a week) there will be some good news for the people who want the price of the Purple Claw to drop because I'll have one. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Will my heart sink if the next one after this sells for $400 on Ebay? Nope, I could care less. I've waited two years, and I think that is long enough.

reguardless of whether or not he would have paid more for a purple claw under other circumstances is irrelevant

They use to sell for around $400 so that would probably be my max on a purple claw. I too dream of finding one out in the world at a good price.Other than Alex, who tries to corner the market on anything of value in the M.U.S.C.L.E. hobby, I don't think there is anyone still willing to pay $1k for a purple claw.
Who here would have bid that high on a purple claw?
Which is probably why I dont own one.

I would have to disagree - the price of a purple claw will NOT go down from now. Unless a box of 500 of them is discovered in Jay's garage!

The purple claw is the pinnacle of standard MUSCLE collecting - even IF (and that's a bif IF) all the current collectors got one (and that's not going to happen) then anyone coming new into the hobby would read LRG and UofM and get up to date with all the folk-lore surrounding the purple claw - that triggers competition between newbies, same cycle again and again
My guess - there are simply not enough Purple Claws left in the world to satisfy everyone.
I really wish there was - because I am chasing one too...
And yes, providing the wife gave relevant authorisation, I would pay $1000 for a purple claw.
Not an ideal situation - but this is the reality I am faced with - if I want to add one to my collection....
A pinhead collector? Quite possibly!
A passionate collector? Most definitely!

I can't say I disagree, you make a great point.
But that is the sad part. Instead of the price being driven by true supply and demand, it has pretty much been set by one or two collectors. New collectors come into this hobby and will "expect" that $1k is the norm for that figure, and adjust their preconceptions accordingly. Instead of them deciding what it is worth to them, there is now the added assumption that they have to drop $1000 to get one. And thus perception becomes reality.
Sad.

Sad.
It is sad - and a part of me does not fully believe that I will ever complete a colour Master Set because of this. Simply put, I could not afford a master set at current prices.
I hope prices come down. I would love it, you would love it. We would all love it.
Well, all of us except those who don't actually care about the hobby and instead more about what we can gain out of it!
