This first one is from the creator/artist of The Tick! he looked through the figures I had with me, and said that he was pretty sure he'd taken the idea for one of his charachters from this guy..

my only complaint/critique concerns the coloring of the backgrounds in some of the pictures. it can be distracting to see the "lines" of the markers as they overlap each other when coloring in a large area.
ben shan's piece and tal's snake are very cool. i also enjoyed the effort by some of the artists to add a joke or put the figure in some sort of context. and one other thing i find interesting by viewing all of the work (good and bad) is to see which artists give the figures dynamic poses and utilize deep space and which artists lack the confidence to even draw hands - i'm looking at you indie art dallas band guy.
very cool topic, please keep them coming.

Quite possibly the best pro piece in the book, and there have been some real good ones. Be sure to check his stuff out at wildguard.com and Teen Titans Go! for dccomics.com.
The only other artist in my book that I like as much...

Anyhoo, here's the first of a very long list of catch-ups. This was at A-Kon anime expo, and when I went in, the first thing I did (as always) is get an artist started on a muscle sketch, so I could feel indirecly productive while toy-gawking. I saw that Kevin Steel was there, so he was my first choice (victim). I couldn't tell whether or not he was getting sick of doing these, but its not like he was doin it fer free. As always, a really nice piece, and very little was added to this one.

This catch up is another of the A-kon art run, and ended up looking much more elaborate than the artist drew it. color-wise, this is one of my new favorites. I aways like pantheon best in red...
