[COLOR=red]This was another of my blank pages, that I'd for some reason skipped drawing on. Since these posts are here in the order I have them in the book, Brick wall dude got to be showcased early, what with already having the red base tone down. turned out pretty good, I think....

The last couple pics were good, but now I've got more "indy table fodder" to post before I reach more of the good stuff.

This first one is from the creator/artist of The Tick! he looked through the figures I had with me, and said that he was pretty sure he'd taken the idea for one of his charachters from this guy..

This next one was a freebie from the writer for the tick. Note to self: no more writer art!

Told this guy I add color to all the pics in this book. He gave me this look, and I said "well, if you don't want my 5 bucks, I'll move on", so he decided the 5-spot was more important that whatever his problem was. Pretty good picture, except for the white-out on the right hand.

the last one this week is One I really don't like. The guy was going on and on about how great the indie art scene was, and about his dallas band. He didn't really put much attention into the art.

This week's offerings wewn't that strong, but hang in there: next week, Ben Dunn does Fox, The artist from El Gato Negro shows us how hatchet dude is done!

i enjoyed looking at all of them, even the ones that you don't think are that good. because for my taste i thought "117onethird" was cool because it was so simple.
my only complaint/critique concerns the coloring of the backgrounds in some of the pictures. it can be distracting to see the "lines" of the markers as they overlap each other when coloring in a large area.
ben shan's piece and tal's snake are very cool. i also enjoyed the effort by some of the artists to add a joke or put the figure in some sort of context. and one other thing i find interesting by viewing all of the work (good and bad) is to see which artists give the figures dynamic poses and utilize deep space and which artists lack the confidence to even draw hands - i'm looking at you indie art dallas band guy.

very cool topic, please keep them coming.

Thanks, Dew! Hope to have a pic from you in the book someday. Till then, I'll address the background line issue. Had the six scans ready to catch up, but their file sizes were too big, so I gotta try something else to get them here. In the meantime, anyone else got figure fan art to post? ;)

Okay, think I got the file problem fixed. The first catch-up is a pencil sketch from Ben Dunn (www.ANARCTIC-PRESS.com) that I painted with some new sharpie paint markers. Really turned out great!

This next one is from the artist of El Gato Negro, and one of my new favorites to get sketches from. There are two more from him already in the book, and would not turn down the chance to get more. I never expected the dual-axed, freak-faced guy to look this good.

Todd Nauck!

Quite possibly the best pro piece in the book, and there have been some real good ones. Be sure to check his stuff out at wildguard.com and Teen Titans Go! for dccomics.com.

The only other artist in my book that I like as much...

Another great peice from the sci-fi July. He did all his plotting in red pencil, then red inked it. This should be a poster.

Compared to the other 5 catch-ups, this one is kinda weak, but still a good pic. Some of you might recognize that signature from the comics in your Playboy,Hustler, and Penthouse dirtybooks. For Shame!!

This was from the creator/writer/artist of Big Epsolon. Unfortunately, I don't have a link to his stuff. Maybe at the next con.

Hey buddy! I'm doing great! How about you? I sold my entire collection about 6 years ago. I just discovered this forum and joined a month ago. I have a little thread of my art going called "New Member." I just bought a few things. A Romando Sunigator because it was like $3 and 5 MUSCLEs which I painted. I've got a short list of figs I'm going to buy to paint but have to wait till after the holidays. I also just bought the UM DVD because I never saw the show. I wish the 2nd volume was available. I also wish ADV would redub the old series when they're done with Gatchaman. Anyway, I love this forum! I can't believe how big the MUSCLE community has grown. So many cool, interesting people here and so much new collecting info. Good to hear from you!

All very facinating...

Anyhoo, here's the first of a very long list of catch-ups. This was at A-Kon anime expo, and when I went in, the first thing I did (as always) is get an artist started on a muscle sketch, so I could feel indirecly productive while toy-gawking. I saw that Kevin Steel was there, so he was my first choice (victim). I couldn't tell whether or not he was getting sick of doing these, but its not like he was doin it fer free. As always, a really nice piece, and very little was added to this one.

Don't sweat it, Kevin. Just caught up on YOUR art topic, and I'm most impressed with your dedication. I keep losing momentum, and then have to play catch-up. when I first started this topic, I set a 2 pic a week deadline, cause I knew it would trail off if I didn't. Looks like you have no such problem.

This catch up is another of the A-kon art run, and ended up looking much more elaborate than the artist drew it. color-wise, this is one of my new favorites. I aways like pantheon best in red...

Another from A-kon, this one was pretty bland, so I tried out my new sharpie poster paints on it. I could be the sharpie rep, with all the use I get from that brand. So here's day-glow neptuneman!
