So I think that the reserve is set at $1999, there have been a couple bids that were retracted, one of them mine. I bid $222,222, and really I only meant to bid $2,222 thinking that the reserve was $9,000, so it was a valid retraction because I did effup the decimal place. Anyway, I was the winning bidder with $2024 and I think the increment when it gets that high is $25, so I wouldnt bid higher than $1999.

Look at bid history...you would have seen that the reserve is $2,000. >-<

That was figured out 3 days ago or so. <_<

 check it out:

***READ***  Apparently there is some confusion on my part regarding this rare gem. My son Yapiel is a bad bad boy, he is always talking about rare muscle men and rare this, rare that.  We have been working hard on getting him to move out and suggested he sold some of his rare muscle fighters for a little extra rent money so he gives us this little red sunshine figure.  I thought it looked suspicious as I had never seen it in his collection before.  I tried to do a little research and found only the information that I have listed in the description and in the Q&A section of this auction.  Come to find out (thanks to all of your kind emails) this might not be an official muscle man, it may be a creative fake on little Yapiel's part.  Shame on you Yapiel, you are going to get it mister.  No more sugar cookies for you buddy.  So, with that said, if you continue to bid on this item, you are a total moron.  I apologize for any confusion and thank all of you for setting me straight.  Just so you know Yapiel is grounded and will be recieving a series of spankings.

Yours Truly, Yapial's mama

and...

***Read me too***  This whole auction has been a total phony, yeah I said it, a fake, a hoax, a lie, and big JOKE!!!  I loved answering all of your emails, and no offense was meant on my part, I was having fun.  I am a serious collector of Muscle men, and I honestly appreciate those of you who emailed me to call me on the phony auction. It keeps shady sellers in line.  I hope you do realize that I did not expect any bids and just in case that is why I set the reserve price at an absurd amount (costing me nearly $30 to list by the way).  I purposely made the figure look like crap, I purposely stuck a yellow pin in his arm, and I purposely left drill marks and made the sloppy hole.  For those whose questions I answered rudely, that was merely part of the joke and seriously, no offense meant, I apologize if I made any of you cry.  Keep collecting!!!

Hahahahaha!

This one is the best yet!

Q:  Is it true your recently discovered this while bathing your son with some MUSCLE glycerin soap you purchased from eBay? If so, will you be listing any video of the event? 8-D

A:  Although my son does enjoy the occasion bathtime with mommy, we no longer allow toys in the tub due to the lost adventurer incident. We never did find that GI Joe.

So it is a joke. Although after the first few emails it became kind of apparent. Hahaha. Glad it wasn't a scammer.

Anyways, ask more question and see what he does now that his gig is up!

Well if it was Yapiels mom then I was off just a bit on my previous guess. Unless the real Yapiel was the seller. Wasn't that Alex's brother? So then it would be Alex's mom?...........I'm confused.

Well since the seller claim it cost him nearly $30 to post the auction, at least we know Marty wasn't behind this! :excl: He's waaaaaaay too cheap to put up that kind of money simply for a joke. ;)

Good prank! I actually believed it for the first few days. Personally, I voted for Johnny as the culprit in the other thread, but I'm still thinking it may be Veers. But given the Yapiel remarks, it might be Doc or Marty, too.

...that is why I set the reserve price at an absurd amount (costing me nearly $30 to list by the way).

You know, practical jokes are fun and everything... but 30 bucks just to pull a prank? No offense to whoever pulled the prank, but man, you obviously have too much money if you're using it for this.

Not when you consider the entertainment value that it created. I mean, it had the whole board and then some going for a few days. And the Q&A section? Hahahaha. I think whoever did it got a good deal of entertainment for their $$.

I agree, it is most likely Doc or Veers, as they have always been the mot vocal on the board about Yapiel, but then again, it could be anyone else. This seemed preyty light hearted jabbing at Alex. But concerning Yapiel, Doc and Veers haven't been so light hearted. So I'm thinking it may be someone else entirely.

Well the best way to find out would be for someone to meet the reserve, win the auction, and then request the member information from eBay. Even then all of the info could be fake as well. I guess.

I kind of agree, actually. Although I enjoy a good prank once in a while, I think that pranks do screw around with the credibility of the online MUSCLE community. I personally don't pull pranks myself (at least, not anymore) because I'm concerned that it would undermine the credibility of myself and my site. For example, if I make a bunch of pranks regarding Super-Rares, and then announce a real Super-Rare on my site, what would make people believe that I wasn't pranking in the latter case?

Anyway, I was trying not to be a kill-joy because this was a good joke. (But still... $30?! Sure, it put the boards into an uproar, but come on...)

Personally I didn't think that this prank was funny in itself, but I did enjoy the responses to the questions, and trying to guess who did it was kind of fun. I really don't see anything offensive to the muscle community myself. Maybe it was that guy from that issue of Toyfare who hated muscles and was just getting one last laugh at us. This prank (can it even be called that) could have used a little more refining. I mean maybe if it was a more believable super rare auction, but then Alex would have got suckered out of $1000 Bucks! B) The more and more I look at it, it doesn't seem to be a board member, just someone messing with everybody. But I did see Arforbes on the active members list everytime the auction seemed to be updated. Hmmm.......

And no it wasn't me, cause I'm just as cheap as Marty. :woot:

Well, I guess we're not going to find out who is behind this then.

The blow they have dealt to the MUSCLE collecting community will reverberate for years to come. If it turns out that the person(s) behind this were board members, I think they should be banned.

Unless it was jkaris.
