What does DEM mean? and a very funny sig ataru. LOL XD

Yeah, just saw the whole "Bo-bobo's a vampire" bit as perfect fodder to take down all that "bishonen vampire" crap in the media as of late.

Nah, that's not DEM. The fact that there was an Apollo Window right there explains how "the Neptune dummies" got their power so easily and why they're not fighting around that other keyhole. Now the NEXT chapter...that's a DEM.

I was referring more to the light that came down at the end of the chapter and revealed it's location.

The whole scenario was dumb rereading it. I mean, it's not just "the Hell Missionaries" using the Apollo Power, but the nonsense of the Earth listening and using that light to direct itself to Neptune King, which of course leads to the Apollo Window that he ended up using. I sort of wish there was a less ridiculous way it could have been done but somehow I guess the whole matter of the Apollo Window is ridiculous already...so use DEM to defeat a DEM I guess. (doesn't stop it from being horrible though)

Chapter 272: This victory is very hollow when you realize that Suguru's son is going to step out of a time machine a few hours later and make The Machineguns look like a bad joke. Damn Nisei. (come to think of it, those Time Chojin in Nisei have Apollo Window marks on them, use electricity, and have time traveling powers, just like Neptuneman and Budo!)

At least there's only one chapter left before this arc is over.

Kinnikuman digging up a keyhole while Terryman shouts to him to hurry up hanging from an abyss, while King is bashing his hand with an iron post. I mean, seriously, does a fight get worse than that?

Well, I was specifically referring to the end of the fight in the anime. I'm sure "Kiseki no Gyakuten Fighter" was used to finish the episode, before the filler arc started up.

EDIT: Though having just read Chapter 270, I think that pales in comparison to what could have been a Crowning Moment of Awesome in the anime, with Suguru singing "Go Fight!" and shrugging off all the blades, no less. Seeing my own translated lyrics (albeit tweaked ever so slightly, but I am in no right to nitpick) come into that scene made me feel a little bit proud, for once.

Former resident song translator, and as a result, probably the distant, insignificant relative of the translation family on this board.

Update (7/1/2012 [7th Jan]) - Years away can calm a mind down quite well. I don't think of myself as some maligned martyr of the site. Rather it's just that I was unfortunately caught by the mudslinging of a rather unpleasant (and unprofessional) translator, who didn't like people taking the spotlight away from him, particularly if they happened to actually be able to properly translate work, as opposed to him. Nevertheless, despite the fact that all my work was my own, I got constantly accused of plagiarism, thanks to this unpleasant individual constantly saying how I stole his work. (When rather, it was going to end up being the other way round.)

I'm a lot more forgiving about the whole ideal, with how I ended up getting treated on this forum, as a result of this incident, but at the same time, I am still not in any mind to come back and join in again, nor will I uplaod any more of my translation work on here. This includes any of my old work, or my newer and much more accurate work. Some may see this as being petty, spiteful or based off an old grudge, and you may be right. However, I thought I'd explain things a little.

Chapter 273: It's over. It's finally over.
http://www.megalopuad.coc/?d=0E45FNKF

(sorry for this huge post, it shouldn't happen again)

Well, that ending wasn't totally offensive, I guess. Overall, I have to say that this arc was a gigantic waste of time and effort, but I'm glad it's done. The next arc may not be perfect, but at least it doesn't have any more 2 volume long fights (except the last one, but that's actually several fights in the same ring).

More importantly, there's another important matter I'd like to point out today. Team Kinniku kind of formed over time. Ataru's first translation was on September 4th, his original post on this board saying he was doing it was on September 6th (I wanted to finish the arc then, but I overshot the deadline), Orgg's first chapter was released on September 15th, and the name "TeamKinniku" was christened on September 24th. Any of those dates can be considered the day that the group was founded. However, one year ago on September 20th (today), I signed onto the project. Being the last of the four founding members to join, that means that today is also the first day that all four of us were working together on this project. Since it's the same day that the Tag arc was finished, I'm just gonna go ahead and officially declare today Team Kinniku's one-year anniversary. Any objections?

Instead of doing my usually "thank everyone who's ever helped every few volumes" thing (for the record, I do it because we don't use credit pages in the scanlations, but I still feel people need to be thanked), I'd rather just take some time to specifically thank the actual members of the group:

First of all, StrangerAtaru. Even though you don't like calling yourself a member of this "group" (I can't really hold it against you, considering I post on this board all the time and don't consider myself a member of it), we'll always consider you one whether you like it or not. You're the reason this whole thing was even able to get started, and you've translated the series far faster than anyone could have ever asked for. You've translated over 150 chapters of this series in a single year, as well as managing to work on about 8 other series while you do it. You're also one of the few people I actually hold to their word. More importantly, you're one of only two people I know well enough online to go out of my way to talk to on AIM. That's a real honor.

Second, Knuxie: I be lying if I said I knew Knuxie as well as most of the other people I'm thanking, so I can't really say a lot about her. The very fact that she's still around is commendable in itself, considering she usually gets stuck with the duties nobody else wants to bother with. In my opinion, she's the reason that I rightfully can call this a "scanlation group (of sorts)" and not just "me working off Ataru's scripts". She's also working on V-Jump Nisei with Jake(Kinnikuman_Muscle) at the moment, and the first chapter seems to be fairly close to release. Keep up the good work Knuxie, and I'm sorry that your appreciation paragraph is so uncreative...

Third, Orgg: Since he hasn't been able to help recently, I mostly like to pretend his current position is "Team Kinniku's ally on this board's moderation staff". However, his current duties (or lack thereof) are greatly outshadowed by what he once did. This is the person who originally stepped up and decided to get Kinnikuman scanlated after Ataru began translating it. If it weren't for this guy, Yorozuya would probably still be working on the series (or Hajike-scans). He still provides a lot of moral support too. Hopefully something will come up where you can help more actively in the coming year, but you're still important either way.

Now that the originals are out of the way, there are two others who need to be thanked:

Jake (Kinnikuman_Muscle): This is the other guy I speak to often on AIM (although recently I've been keeping my distance until the first chapter of V-Jump nisei finishes getting scanned, because it isn't right to stand over his shoulder all the time). I still find it hilarious that the two people translating Kinnikuman-related manga have completely opposite personalities. All of the trouble he's started aside, he's generally a good guy who wants to help (if not a big overly-ambitious at times). He did a few one-shots earlier this year, and he's working on V-Jump Nisei right now (and a few other things, like scanning in Kinnikuman Lady for us). He seems to finally be starting to get along with people (mostly), so hopefully we'll have a peaceful year this year. Thanks for everything.

Kawaii_Kenni (honorary member): Although you haven't been connected to our work on the Kinnikuman manga very long, you do good work on translating the music, and you're always ready to help us when we ask. I'm sorry that you weren't able to help us directly, but you at least keep me in high spirits. I also borrowed your translation of Kinnikuman Go Fight a few chapters ago, I hope you didn't mind that.

That said, it feels a bit pretentious to keep talking about Team Kinniku like it's some grand organization, because it's really just a bunch of people who just want to read a damn manga from the 80s that nobody else cares about. I just felt that this is an appropriate milestone to thank all of those people who I don't normally thank enough (aside from Ataru, who probably gets tired of me thanking him all the time). Either way, let's all keep working together for the end. I need a nice long break after that trainwreck that was the Tag arc, and Ataru's taking a break from it too, but hopefully I can convince him that my health conditions aren't serious enough to stop working on it when the time comes to start working again (if I manage to get back on it, I'll probably have to limit myself to 3 chapters a week).

Thanks again to everyone, including people like HnK and the people who keep discussion in the forum semi-active, for helping people enjoy this obscure classing.

I am completely awed at the time period this project took to accomplish so much. Only a year? How that time flew. I still didn't order Effing Tendon, though. :D

This has been a tremendous year for the Kinniku-community. First TeamKinniku's throwing chapters up online like a rabid dog that's eaten a bucket of exlax, and now Wimmo's fansubbing, it's looking like the next few years will basically tie up just about all of the lower-end-of-the-spectrum hopes we old guard had for the series-- all that's missing is braudcast tapes of the third season of Ultimate Muscle, really.

TeamKinniku has truly re-invigorated my love for the series after Wikipedia's tactical nuke destroyed a couple years worth of my work on the franchise.

Thank You To Everyone Involved, and Everyone who has helped make it the (percieved) success the project has become.

Also, Meatfan, DEM = Deus Ex Machina, a signature 'plot move' for a badly plotted work of fiction. It's the signature 'end of the novel' that comes out of nowhere and leaves the reader going "WTF just happened?" If you watch Wimmo's sub of bobo-bo, the armpit thing strikes one as a Deus Ex Machina in the first episode. It's one of the few things on TVTropes that you'll probably learn about in highschool (right after Irony), along with Chekov's Gun, Pathos and Narm Bathos.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

Seeing this lovely post from Stecase-san first thing in the morning is quite the pick-up. Not just as something to greet the tired, bleary-eyed fool, having just woken up, but also a nice pick-me-up, considering the few little resurgences of depression that I had been caught in the throes of recently.

My frankly disgusting sense of self-esteem, minuscule as it is in seeming comparison to my vocabulary, probably would assure that I do not consider myself a true member, since (as has been said) I haven't actually done anything finite for the group. The most I can say that my involvement is, is that one of my translations has been adapted for the general public reading the scanlations.

The only other time that I was involved with the group, and presumably the only reason that I can call myself an honorary member, was my brief look at Throne translations. While I have already mentioned it, and it is probably not that much of a secret now, I suppose I should lay clear my side of the story, and help people to understand how I'm supposedly an honorary Team Kinniku member, out on the peripheries as I am.

Before I was given the honour to help the wonderful Stecase-san, I was essentially just the amateur, giving his little takes on songs, which even now aren't perfect. I can assure you that at least three songs that I had already uploaded are getting tweaked, as I type these words, since I am finally beginning to improve and get into the true swing of things.

One day, I was asked if I could look over a few translations from KM, to essentially be a spellchecker and sort out a few grammatical points. Since this is often what people use me for anyway, it was not a problem for me. If anything, it may have been hubris on my part as a translator that made me just look at some of the translations that didn't make sense for me, and translated them myself to make them somewhat more legible. This is most likely where the problem started, and I must agree that it was dreadfully caddish of me, as I didn't have anything near the right to do this. I was asked to merely do the grammar and spelling, not anything more.

And yet, I do hope I at least managed to keep the thing a secret for as long as possible, only having told one person who I knew I could trust, that I was entrusted with this role. Unless I am being very clearly amnesiac and forgetting a misdemeanour on my part, I did keep this a secret, until KM himself started to speak out against it.

But as I am starting to ramble now, I shall draw to a close. I just wanted to make it clear why I don't really have much right to be even an honorary member, and set the records straight on why I am, and also as to why KM had spoken out against me a few weeks ago.

In short, really, I just wanted to say my own thanks to Stecase-san, for both his diligent work on the series and for his words of praise. However, evidently, I got lost in thought, as the rambling idiot I truly am. So I apologise for taking so much time up, and thank everyone who has given me any support, and ask that you direct it instead to Stecase-san. He deserves it much more than I do, for one, and is also the major inspiration I had in continuing my translations. It was his kind words that convinced me to continue when I was still just a newbie trying to work out the complicated parts of Japanese, and it was he, who soldified me as a freelancer, saying me bits here and there and essentially being the little pest full of trivia that I have become on this board.

More like "rotting in the Thames for thousands of years wearing a kendo outfit that suggests he should be in Japan". I have a few things to say, including my own comments on reaching this point to throw in my personal POV, but I won't be able to do it until later.

BTW: the "missing pages" from two Gold Mask chapters are done and in Tash's hands.

This is Going to be a long post mentioning how I feel about the Kawaii incident and all the people involved in Team Kinniku as well as the fans of the series supporting us.

So now that your parts out the way Kawaii here's my part of that whole story. I was here to do what I wanted to do and Kinnikuman was that. As Tash pointed that out and yeah my personality is defiantly different to Ataru's. I'm a in your face type of person that will make you nervous or uncomfortable unless you know me know me like Ataru, Tash and Knuxie does. I will admit I do come off as an asshole but that's my personality I can't help that.

Regarding everyone on here they all shown me tons of love and I love it and I love all you guys that keep supporting me even when I wanted to quit. Big brother Ataru pushes me to do better and influences me to work harder. My little brother Tash is always on my back about improving which I am pretty well off now, My younger sister Knuxie also is there when I need to vent my mind and clear it when so much stuff goes on, which helps me a lot lol.

The incident with Kawaii and I is a complex issue that I don't want to explain but I will because on my side that's very effed up for someone to do some shady ass shizznit like that. In the start when my old friend was on this account effing with people Kawaii messaged me and he literally became one of those people and that did build up a lot and it looked like it fell apart on that. It was obvious him and I would never get along and that exactly what happened.

When Tash told me about using you for this I was all for it because your high skills in grammar would help us a lot. I know when Tash and I work together we literally complement each others style. It sounds real life and all that when you read the work we do together and I love it because I can always rely on him for that and as well as I do love him to death like a blood brother its pretty evident for him and Ataru both that's my family.

But Kawaii one thing I won't lay down for and won't hold back from is the fact your job was supposed to read it and fix errors. For you to totally re-translate the what I've already translated it is shady as eff for doing that one move I lost every bit of respect I had for you as a person and that's the god honest truth. You might translate songs and you might do what you do but on the no condition take credit for shizznit I did because I don't play that game.

That's the real actual reason why I said eff the Throne Arc and I stopped doing it because I felt like the person that my brother trusted had betrayed me and that is in my eyes betraying the person who trusted you in the first place. For anyone who's seen my translations its translated English on the top and Japanese on the bottom how its seen I do that as a reference to whoever is type-setting it in case they need to do an online translation if they're lost.

When I worked on G1 I had a lot of pride doing it because I did the best work I've ever done in that series and it was literally the first thing I've ever translated in my life. So you better believe for you to pull some shizznit like that to me was the biggest eff you anyone has ever done to me. Not only did you not even communicate with me but you also blocked me on the messenger so I couldn't contact you what the eff is that you're using my shizznit but I can't work with you to explain to you what's going on in the story.

In my eyes seriously I feel like you robbed me of my dignity you used me for what I did and you were an ungrateful person. A real man would admit he was wrong and admit that that's majorly effed up to do something like that to a translator that took his time to do that series for everyone. If I was still working on G1 by now I'd have 8 volumes done literally because I basically worked on it everyday since I have 2 hour breaks at my job, When I told big brother Ataru to take it back I felt like I let everyone down on here since people wanted them all.

Nothing can replace the feeling of letting something like that go after you put so much into it. I was seriously going to stop translating tell Jkaris to delete my profile on here and leave for good because that went directly to the heart that to me felt like you took a knife and killed my feeling of even being a translator. Ataru and Tash told me to never give up and if it wasn't for them and Knuxie wanting V-Jump I'd have gave it up a long time ago.

You had no communication or anything with me I have people on here telling me all of this shizznit about yeah man why wont he communicate with you why's he doing that for. Man that shizznit hurts a lot no money no apologize or anything like that can replace the feeling I felt that's seriously not cool at all. People who know me knows this shizznit is a serious matter and too me that makes me feel like a I'm just a worthless translator just on here to make funny posts and people crack jokes because I'm being straight up honest.

When I came to Team Kinniku no one believed I'd do anything until I started working on stuff and I only keep my translations within the crew I don't post them out. That's why people argued if I'm a translator or not but as people soon found out I know what I'm doing Tash said it best we might not be a full group but we are one thing in my eyes an unbreakable family no matter how effed up something is we over came that and we all do our part and for that I cried for you guys cause that feeling is a great feeling to know I got special people like you 3 in my life.

I'll tell you guys all something special recently I did a live show and at my show after the 5th song on the set i took 15 minutes out to talk about everyone I cared for and speak my mind to the crowd and Team Kinniku was mentioned that brought tears to my eyes and a strong feeling. being in the music industry wont work without inspiration and all of you involved who read and everyone who appreciates us and everything is one source of my inspiration.

It's very inspiring to me and it makes me want to do better for y'all from my fam to fans whatever to the gods and spirits I love all y'all until the day god ends my life and puts me in the ground I'll continue to translate and bring the classics out with my big brother Ataru. One thing last thing though Ataru and I both love Otokojuko but come on, all y'all need to read that series and love it too, Something so epic and people never mention it, I'm addicted to that series like Eazy-E was addicted to popping cherries.

I never knew so much politics were present within a manga scanlation group!

Only when he's involved.

Still, If I was KM, I would be pretty pissed off too if somebody re-translated my translations without telling me!
I hope you were able to get it all off your chest in that post...

I want to let this die, but I promised Kenni that I'd comment on this argument if it got any worse. Here's an actual line from Kinnikuman_Muscle's script, so everyone here can decide for themselves if lines like this need to be retranslated to be understood (it's from chapter 274, and the Japanese line is Mayumi talking about how it's time he stepped back and let Kinnikuman have the throne):

クシも長い間 きばりすぎた... ここで スグルに いつそう飛躍して もらうためにも クシが第一線を しりぞくのが よかろう

Kinnikuman_Muscle's translation:
The Head of space was here and was putting too many look-alikes that need to be withdrawn.. As soon as Suguru arrives he'll be leaping to the forefront.

They've both given their own side of the story, and I've given an example of what they're arguing about, so now everyone can make their own, educated opinion about the matter.

With that said, neither Kenni nor Kinnikuman_Muscle are working on the Throne arc anymore, so there's no point in continuing this discussion. If you want to continue this discussion, do it over PMs or something. I don't want to see another person commenting about it for the rest of this thread, as it's strictly a matter between them.

According to K_M, he has improved since that first chapter so it's not like he would have had it perfectly back then. Heck, I've been looking at my old Bo-bobo scripts as they've been scanslated, sometimes wondering about what I did then compared to what I'm doing now...I just think it's all the problems we go through in developing our skills.

When I first started I was mad rusty I tried to make sense of everything I did, Which I was told by Ataru I knew what I was doing all I had to do was word it properly. As I translated my skill improved to a better level when those were the first done it was a struggle that's why it would take me about a week for each chapter since there was so much text. But even if it was done, However I done it I'd have the Japanese there to assist me to fix any errors if they didn't look right to my eyes.

I mean yeah you can take a line out of what I did and show people and probably put it over as what I've done and such in the style I do it. But that doesn't mean anything because still even if I did do those chapters and that did happen I still in my eyes think that's effed up that someone on this board would play that game and not even tell me. If Kawaii had any effing respect for me as a translator he'd have messaged me and said "Hey Jake I'm going to re-translate your mistakes".

But really do you think for say Ataru or Wimmo would like someone doing that shizznit behind their backs without even asking them if they could. That's like saying "Hey I'm going to go eff your bee-eye-itch tonight don't worry I won't tell anyone about it". In my eyes only a piece of garbage would do what he did and that's how I feel, You can say he's this and he's that but Tash bro I really don't care, This isn't politics either this is an issue about respect and telling someone directly instead of keeping it a secret.

When I asked Matto to proof read some of the new V-Jump series I'm working on he was honest about it and he was like "Do you want me to keep the original context or switch it up". See that's someone I know I can trust because he was straight up honest with me and worked with me. Kawaii never asked or did anything like that, He assumed that he could do that but those are my translations he can't just redo everything without asking me first.

Even my boy Akuma said to me that's effed up only a busta would do that type of shizznit and that's coming from a 34 yearold rapper who reads our shizznit as we put it out. He said it's like stealing one of his biggest hits from his crew Shape Shifters and redoing the lyrics and remaking the song without any consent. Kawaii doesn't know me and I don't think he want's to know who the eff I am, I'll take this off the net and confront your thief ass and knock you the eff out.

I deal with a ton of shizznit everyday from my job to doing live shows to translating Japanese to everything else I do. But, I keep translating because Team Kinniku is my team and I won't drop that for anyone because I respect them all and love them all. You're here translating songs and you're putting high egotistical verbage in a sig I bet in real life you probably think you're a big deal, You ain't nothing but a effing thief and I'll never acknowledge as anything else but that.

And eff politics I don't care for anything political or making anything bigger than what it is. but I'm sure half of this entire board agrees with me that what he's done is disrespectful unethical and wrong. It's not cool to get PM's from board members saying why did I drop the Throne Arc after so many supported me. Why aren't you working on it anymore what happened? It's because fools like Kawaii exist to steal someones shizznit. I even bet you if he did that with me that he even stole those songs hes done and re-worded them.

And from what I heard he has more errors in those songs than anything else. I should translate those and show you how its done because if it's one thing that makes me sick it's your constant use of the word "San" If you want me to jump on this I'll jump on your neck. Honorifics used in the context you use them in is a pitiful example of someone who tries to hard. You say "San" to everyone you should be saying "Kun" instead of "San" and "Chan" for girls but I guess you like to throw words out to sound cool, effing idiot.

Why do your split your posts uniformly into 3-line pieces?

Also whine whine whine whine. From what I understand, he was asked to correct something. He corrected it. If he can't make anything out of a sentence, obviously he'll have to retranslate it (which would probably be the case quite often if the sentences were as the one above). He didn't steal anything. Geez.

Kawaii doesn't know me and I don't think he want's to know who the eff I am, I'll take this off the net and confront your thief ass and knock you the eff out.

OH GOD INTERNET THREATS I LOL'D

I should translate those and show you how its done because if it's one thing that makes me sick it's your constant use of the word "San"

Which has... What to do with his song translations?

That's like saying "Hey I'm going to go eff your bee-eye-itch tonight don't worry I won't tell anyone about it".

So first the bad part is that he didn't tell you, then telling you would be like telling you that he was going to screw your girlfriend?

He said it's like stealing one of his biggest hits from his crew Shape Shifters and redoing the lyrics and remaking the song without any consent.

Except it isn't.

I don't quite understand. Is "shizznit" some sort of universal substitute for any noun of choice?

I don't think half of the board agrees with you, especially since you act like some pathethic 12-year old who... I dont' know what. What does PM:s from board members having to do with what Kenni did?

Stop being pathethic. I don't intend to turn this into an argument, but you just come out as an enormous jerk by posting it here. Take it via PM or something, but no one is interested in reading about your whining. Besides, it's hardly a public matter. Kenni may not have done it entirely smoothly, but it can hardly be a THAT big deal for you to come in and start acting like some bad ass ganzta throwing threats around. You just look like an idiot doing that.

If any more posts on this topic happen in this thread, they'll be deleted as soon as I see 'em, reguardless of the other content.

SSS5 has already warned once. THIS IS THE LAST WARNING FOR THIS TIME.

If I have to delete more than one of your posts on this issue WHICH HAS BEEN RESOLVED PREVIOUSLY BY THOSE INVOLVED, you will have a nice two-day timeout.

We, meaning I in particular, DO NOT want this thread becoming another flamefest-- as far as I'm concerned, this current discussion is about the previous time an eruption occured, and thus far deserves no further correction.

Also, if someone higher up sees this and determines otherwise, that is at their discression.

Well now that K_M has been banned, what's going to happen to Nisei V-Jump? Is it dead in the water?

I'm sure you guys can get along with that project off-site if it requires K_M's interaction.

Thankfully I haven't started on it. If KM doesn't leave TeamKinniku permentanly because of this, I'll still work on it. If he does though, I have an idea (and won't be using KM's script if that happens, since he's so against "stealing" his work...)
