Two universes, two scripts:

-Chp. 283: Every time you try to apply logic or sense to a chapter of Kinnikuman, Mixer Taitei kills a puppy. Please, think of the puppies before trying to make sense of this series: http://mangahelpers..../releases/17035
-K. Lady 4: Specialman torment begins even before she shows up in the flesh...that's a new record: http://mangahelpers..../releases/17036

So it's not Mixer Tait or Mixer Titan? What's Taitei's meaning and such, on curiosity?

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

As I mentioned when the Mariposa team was fully introduced, the proper name for him in English is "Mixer the Great", since "Taitei" at the end can be "Emperor" but can also be used as the epithet of "The Great". But we're keeping it in Japanese due to the Akuma Shogun clause: any proper name in this series will not be translated and will remain the original Japanese name.

Besides, Mixer Taitei is from Japan, so it's not an issue like Kenkaman, where the character has a Japanese name just for the hell of it.

His name is "Kenkaman", which essentially is "Quarrelman", and his main technique is "Quarrel Bomber"...I never got why they did that.

I also would include Kani Base to that weird situation considering that it was just using Japanese for what obviously is "crab". (well he/she/it is on my mind anyway due to being close to it's appearance in Kinnikuman Lady)

Just to point it out, and I suppose to show how I differ from Team Kinniku's style, I do translate "title names", i.e. "Devil General", or The Great King of the Realms".

Former resident song translator, and as a result, probably the distant, insignificant relative of the translation family on this board.

Update (7/1/2012 [7th Jan]) - Years away can calm a mind down quite well. I don't think of myself as some maligned martyr of the site. Rather it's just that I was unfortunately caught by the mudslinging of a rather unpleasant (and unprofessional) translator, who didn't like people taking the spotlight away from him, particularly if they happened to actually be able to properly translate work, as opposed to him. Nevertheless, despite the fact that all my work was my own, I got constantly accused of plagiarism, thanks to this unpleasant individual constantly saying how I stole his work. (When rather, it was going to end up being the other way round.)

I'm a lot more forgiving about the whole ideal, with how I ended up getting treated on this forum, as a result of this incident, but at the same time, I am still not in any mind to come back and join in again, nor will I uplaod any more of my translation work on here. This includes any of my old work, or my newer and much more accurate work. Some may see this as being petty, spiteful or based off an old grudge, and you may be right. However, I thought I'd explain things a little.

If it were up to me, I'd have used "Devil Shogun", but I didn't have the heart to after half a year of constant "When are we getting to AKUUUUUMA SHOOOOOGUN!?!?" comments. (for the record, that's also why Ashuraman's KAKAKA doesn't have any "h"s added to it)

Not the most professional reason in the world, but whatever.

It's simple: everyone knows him as Akuma Shogun and it's essentially a name as opposed to a title. If it was a title, we could call him "Devil General", but since his name literally is "Akuma Shogun"...that's my legitimacy as to why we didn't translate it.

Didn't do another Lady today (didn't really have the time to with other stuff to get done including the next Throne chapter), but I did check out the online site where the series is being done. And three words for our future:

BROCKEN. JR. MEGANEKKO. (that's all I need to say...)

That's where I'm afraid I'd differ in opinion. Personally, I feel "Akuma Shougun" is a title that the being that is Goldman fashioned for himself. But if you feel that it is more a name than a title, that is fine. You are the better translator, after all.

The way I've always seen it was that he was Shogun of the Akuma Knights, hence "Akuma Shogun".

But yeah, it REALLY doesn't matter.

Should've added 'C's to it. Kaac-kackackack!

Did you just say 'rooster' four times? :cheeks:

Yup. LOLOLOL, etc. :mcmadd:

EDIT: On subject, how do you pronounce 'Taitei' in engrish? I'd pronounce it "Tighty" but what's the right way? I don't want to make another 'You day' blunder if I end up making a joke. Looking at the name, I see why so many people have said it was 'Mixer Taitan (Titan)"

Also, I've seen 100 Ton translated as "John King the 100 Ton." Why's that?

"Taitei". I suppose, for English speakers, you could pronounce it as "Tightay." The "Titan" idea might also stem from a thought of emperors being like titans, what with being monocratic rulers and such.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm thinking "tyrants". Lack of sleep and illness, from a possible bout of Fresher's Flu, does not a good source of trivia make.

As for "John", I cannot say I have a clue. I've already said about the reason why it's "King The 100 Ton" in Japanese, but I can't think of where John could stem from.

And for Meat's Fan, a meganekko is a girl with glasses, which is sometimes described as a form of fetish. Haruhi plays on this, in "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", when she toys with the idea of making Mikuru a meganekko, and giving her Yuki's glasses.

You have a point but I guess I differ in that we didn't know it was Goldman until the reveal near the end. At that point, it would work to say he was "The Devil Shogun" or the "Devil General". But I guess since that would confuse people until they realized that the Devil Knights leader was Goldman, keeping it merely a name of Akuma Shogun feels better.

Chapter274: You are standing near a Zebra, therefore your name is Kinnikuman Zebra!
http://www.megalopuad.coc/?d=2FPN3VX0

Sorry about the first few pages of the chapter. I haven't done this in a while, so I was a bit rusty. The fact that half of the pages in this chapter required redrawing fixed that, though.
