I did it. Ban me.If it turns out that the person(s) behind this were board members, I think they should be banned.

To be honest, Tortle, no one really "fell" for it. Doc -- and myself to a much lesser degree -- did our best to set this up as a legit auction. No purposeful clues were given that it was a sham.I'm starting to think it's scenario 1. In fact, the more I think about it, this DEFINITELY IS a joke, and toi_collector HAS to be someone on the boards. Suggestions?
However, Doc purposely made sure no real MUSCLE collector would believe the figure was real, and he set the reserve so high no moron who might think it was a real figure would win it.
Furthermore, as you note, it soon became apparent that not only was the figure a fake, but the auction was as well -- or at least you were given real reason to begin questioning its veracity due to the nature of the responses. (And that's exactly what you did.)
I hope you guys enjoyed sending in the questions -- which were just as funny as Doc's responses.

What can I say, I think it was mean-spirited and not real cool to trick genuine collectors.

Of course I'm messing with Soups, but he did do a good job of covering his tracks.

Personally I didn't think that this prank was funny in itself,
I agree and am shocked to learn there was a duo of evil geniuses behind it. I mean
it took both of you guys to come up with a M.u.s.c.l.e. with a hole in it?? LOL
You guys put both your heads together to orchestrate a diabolical plot and the best you could do was a MUSCLE WITH A HOLE IN IT?? Thank god you are on our side.
I think the best part of this was the way the board jumped all over this guy. The Q&A was where the real comedy was. We should start a new monthly contest. Where we find an auction and each send the auctioneer one question. Posting both Q & A on the board. Then vote on whos Q&A was the funniest. Winner picks next.
Of course there would be several rules/criteria that we would have to establish. Just an idea.

Well, Doc and I had considered building a life-sized animatronic MUSCLE that had a vocabulary of over 1,000 words and a nack for getting out corn oil stains. You guys put both your heads together to orchestrate a diabolical plot and the best you could do was a MUSCLE WITH A HOLE IN IT??
In all seriousness, I understand your bitterness. However, remember that our goal was not to get people to bid on the auction. Our goal was to get people to say, "WTF! That is so fake. What and a-hole."
I assumed the reason Doc used a "MUSCLE with a hole in it," was to take a little jab at Yapiel and his possession of two real BHS.

You always gotta keep your eye on that Soupie. What a shifty character. And Doc, well, that isn't any real surprise. He is definately a well established shady guy. You know he abuses his position in the medical community to harvest and sell illegal organs.Actually, Rokk pointed me out right away.

I think this idea is funny as hell. I say you start it up in the sandbox with whichever auction you choose (since it is your idea), place some rules, then let us have some fun. Then we can vote like you said on who has the funniest Q&A and let the next guy pick a different auction. It would be funnier if the auctions were not toy related. For example, the "kitty fart" auctions wold be nice to screw with.We should start a new monthly contest. Where we find an auction and each send the auctioneer one question. Posting both Q & A on the board. Then vote on whos Q&A was the funniest. Winner picks next.
