Okay, "this and that"'s finally done, so back to work I go.

Chapter 276: Terryman and Robin Mask have an excuse, but nobody really seems to care that Brocken Jr. doesn't.
http://www.megalopuad.coc/?d=QH6Y52FQ

We're almost out of the prologue chapters. Just hang in there.

Sigh, though Brocken Jr. is shown in this chapter he didnt really have much purpose since Terry and Robin got the positions and not him.

Just like Ataru said, it's sad. :D

Chapter 277: Meanwhile, Kinnikuman Zebra realized that parachuting into an empty castle was a pointless venture.

By the way, someone remind me to add the translation note about Mixer Taitei's name when we get closer to the part of the story where he's relevant. It felt kind of out of place on the final spread.

I know it sounds so up myself to suggest it, but if you'd like, you can also add my translation notes of grammar, about the names like "King The 100 Ton" and "Big the Budou". I'd go and find it, or type up a new one, if you wanted to do so, but of course, I can understand if you don't see the need to point it out.

Former resident song translator, and as a result, probably the distant, insignificant relative of the translation family on this board.

Update (7/1/2012 [7th Jan]) - Years away can calm a mind down quite well. I don't think of myself as some maligned martyr of the site. Rather it's just that I was unfortunately caught by the mudslinging of a rather unpleasant (and unprofessional) translator, who didn't like people taking the spotlight away from him, particularly if they happened to actually be able to properly translate work, as opposed to him. Nevertheless, despite the fact that all my work was my own, I got constantly accused of plagiarism, thanks to this unpleasant individual constantly saying how I stole his work. (When rather, it was going to end up being the other way round.)

I'm a lot more forgiving about the whole ideal, with how I ended up getting treated on this forum, as a result of this incident, but at the same time, I am still not in any mind to come back and join in again, nor will I uplaod any more of my translation work on here. This includes any of my old work, or my newer and much more accurate work. Some may see this as being petty, spiteful or based off an old grudge, and you may be right. However, I thought I'd explain things a little.

The funny thing is that Zebra and "Soldier" suddenly showed up at the castle of the opponents they would eventually be facing anyway so shipping out anyone aside Mariposa/Suguru and Phoenix/Big Body was an utter complete waste of time and fuel.

Oh, as regards to Mixer...well he does have one line around the end of the Hawkman fight, but you won't need to get to his main note until the end of the Mister VTR section, when he does "puppy surgery".

Well, this is looking promising.

Big Body - He has the power of strength!
Soldier - He has the power of brutality!
Super Phoenix - He has the power of intelligence!
Zebra - He has the power of technique!
Mariposa - He... Can fly.

It will be explained later but Mariposa's skill is tied to a high-flying fighting style tied to a lot of jumping and bouncing. (and magically causing butterflies to appear in the ring when he enters...don't ask)

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

In other words, Yudetamago forgot that they already made that character, except he was called "Skyman" the first time.

Chapter 278: Elephants never forget... to kill.
http://www.megalopuad.coc/?d=UJW208Q0

See, this is what was missing from the Tag Arc: short, throwaway fights with gimmicky Chojin like Hawkman. Even better, Mariposa's team consists of a bird dude, a video camera, a blender, and a weight, so we've got over a full volume of this left. (although what any of those have to do with Flight is beyond me)

Maybe Mariposa is one of those people who likes to say that he does things ironically. A post-modern Mariposa, choosing those which cannot fly to join his team as well.

Chapter 279: Terryman and Robin Mask are brought to a moral dilemma as to whether their jobs are more important than helping their friend defeat the EVIL GODS WHO ARE TRYING TO SECURE THE HIGHEST SEAT OF POLITICAL POWER IN THE UNIVERSE. They chose their jobs.

It's a shame there's only one more chapter in this fight. It's really good.

Gotta make a living. Oh, and all the Mariposa fights are cool in some way or another.

BTW: somehow or another, I realized that there is a parallel to each of the five Princes to one of the participants in the first Choujin Olympics.
-Mariposa - Skyman (as Tash pointed out)
-Big Body - Canadianman (poweful...and useless)
-Zebra - Kintaman (both are African...and annoying)
-Soldier - Brockenman (well it was supposed to be this way if he was Soldierman and brutal)
-Super Phoenix - Robin Mask (the so called "brains"...and it sort of works if you consider Australia a part of the British Commonwealth...then again so is Canada)

You know, I've actually been thinking a bit more about how the Five Fated Princes all seem to echo Choujins from the first Choujin Olympics...and somehow as opposed to merely being one Choujin, I'm starting to think that they're more echoed fusions of two Choujin each from the era of the first Olympics:

-Super Phoenix: Robin (honorable but with an unclean side) + Terry (skilled but arrogant and with a "devil side")
-Zebra: Kintaman (African theme) + Ramenman (really skilled in techniques but really twisted)
-Soldier: Brockenman (soldier theme/German ties) + Kinnikuman (duh)
-Mariposa: Skyman (Mexican theme/high flying style) + Lupin (thief)
-Big Body: Canadianman (Canadian connection) + Specialman (football player/utterly useless and naive)

There are probably some tweaks that can be made but I do find it interesting how it turned out.

Chapter 280: Once it gets to the point where people start bringing magical hawks into the arena to help them fight, you really have to take a step back and ask "Does this still even count as wrestling?".

At least it's not an army of bats that can literally become like the darkness surrounding you facing off against a guy who has a horse with a horn on it's head that is called a "unicorn". (yeah but Otokojuku logic doesn't apply to Kinnikuman)

Chapter 281: Broken as Mister VTR is, he still has the coolest entrance in the series. (although the only other Chojin in the series I can think of who had his own entrance was Planetman)
http://www.megalopuad.coc/?d=BMP2T15B

Also, for those familiar with Nisei, this is the character that Road Rage/Dead Signal was ripped off from, only with road signs instead of video manipulation.

Mister VTR is actually the revealed insides of Prince Kamehame, with the projector replaced by a video camera.

Also, Mammothman is easily the most annoyingly broken character so far.

That's the end of volume 24, that means there's only 13 volumes left in the series. Normally I like to thank everyone involved after each volume, but it's been kind of quiet around here lately... Even Knuxie is MIA...

Whatever, thanks to everyone for waiting so long for this volume to be finished.

Wow, Mr. VTR's powers are so ridiculously overpowered, but in a fun way (As opposed to Mammothman, who's just overpowered).

Other than a few insignificant spelling mistakes (I think you mean Iceberg, not Iceburg - They'd be written the same in romaji, though, so.), it's all great. Just don't overwork yourself, okay?

I told you VTR was broken: sure they try to reign him in with a power limit next time but all he needs to do is pause all his competitors and Mariposa would be the new king of Planet Kinniku. (and Mammothman...well, considering he's a Super Phoenix minion, of course they try to make him uber)
