I thought some might appreciate this. I thought it was pretty clever and captured the general attitude of each camp pretty well.

For the record, I consider myself an Agnostic (Believer); I believe it's very likely that there are non-human, sentient entities that exist. However, I could be wrong.

I haven't been around on the forum as much as I've wanted recently as I've been having some home improvements done!  :teehee:

 

Namely, insulation. It isn't costing me anything as it's some green initiative. They did the external wall insulation on the back of the house before Christmas, and the internal wall insulation started this week.

 

Unfortunately this meant having to basically clear a room on all three floors of my house, and I had a bewildering amount of toys and other junk scattered around in no particular order.

 

Because my house is an old one (1890s or thereabouts), it doesn't have cavity walls, so they have to affix insulation boards to the wall.

 

If you managed to make it this far without falling asleep (well done), this is my bedroom after the boards have been fitted (the other rooms are much the same):

Next week the new skirting board, rails, wall sockets etc will be added, then the whole thing can be painted. I'm sure you just can't wait for more pics :)

Wondered where you had been hiding.

What material are the exterior walls of your home made of, that they do not have a dead space inside?

Brick?
Stone?

I have quite a bit of construction experience, and really I am just curios.

My knowledge of turn of the century English architecture is lacking, to say the least.

It's made of bricks, nearly all the houses here are. :)

 

I always prefer to live in old houses, they're not as energy efficient, but I like the large windows and high ceilings.

I prefer older houses myself. What they lack in energy efficiency, they make up for by being built sturdier than any modern materials used today allow.
My house is a little over 100 years old, and solid as a rock. I also enjoy the huge windows, although finding decent shades/curtains, and modern storm windows, to fit them can be a pain.
Mostly in the wallet.
