To be honest, I don't mind as much paying $100 per fig in this case to have the original sculptor do them...it was more the "pay half in one lump sum for all of them" that was a bit of a backbreaker in terms of price, especially considering any number of issues could readily compromise this project and a $750 burst is harder to walk from than a $190 one. Probably helps too having several of the more heavily-desired sculpts in the opening quartet.

I honestly don't know if the interest would be the same if done by a different sculptor, that's the kicker. With the original, you do get that "unofficial official" vibe. With another sculptor...you're stuck with the feel of them being fan-work.

KungFuMan, you're highlighting exactly what I'm trying to make it clear already a while to the serious collectors.

Wait, so are we back to being stuck buying the set as a whole again? Because I thought everything was going fine with buying them in groups of 4 so we got what we wanted. o_O

I was hoping that too, lots of 4 are a lot easier on the pocket than a full set.. Whats happening now then exactly?

The reason is just that I and sculptor talked and understood in this way we planned the project go on too slowly....
He told me without the complete payment to use to buy all materials and so on he cannot give the highest priority to this project...
I've decided to pay all the sets and order them in advance to push up the project on the highest priority and make it faster.
That's all

Still working on Sciapod, cause it had some things to change. When it is complete we can start with the next one. Some suggestion for the second figure to sculpt guys? :joecool:
We can go for Grendel or do you prefer Djinn Shapeshifter? Talos or Genie? Or Bash Tchelik could be better?
LMK your thoughts

My personal pref would be Bash Tchlek (spelling?) I saw his picture in the MIMP comic years ago and so badly wanted that toy. He looked tougher than Great Beast.

Out of all known missing S3 charatcers, how come no one at all has suggested "Achelous" as the next in line?

This project has been ongoing since March, for what these are supposed to be costing i would have expected some serious results by now. As far as i know, the sculptor is only working on Sciapod?
good job nobody invested in these or we'd be wondering where our money was by now, surely?

I've been having a wonder how its coming on too.. its been quite a while and since the first photos of the figure being made theres not been a lot of updates. I was almost thinking it was maybe on a temporary pause. Any updates on the situation gorm? You're the guy in contact with the sculptor so I guess you've some idea whats happening/happened so far.

I asked to the sculptor to make some revision on the Sciapod sculpt because I was not satisfied about some part of it...
I'm still waiting to pay the total cost for the project.
They might have been affected by Hurricane "Irene" in late August and also the summer may have slowed the work in progress.
Now in these days I'm waiting to receive new photos showing this new version.
Anyway I'll ask him to try to be faster with next characters.
Still, working quietly on a project like this could be good to get a better result, without running too much, things get better.
Any Update you'll be informed on this thread guys ;)
Thank you so much for interest!

To be honest maybe it'd be best to just stick with Sciapod since it's nearly and let the rest remain in the dust. I'm really not keen in the idea of rushing an artist (especially at the cost these are going for), and to create the entire set would take a few years at this rate. The one all by itself made by the original creator is celebration enough of these things we love so dearly, methinks.

After long time I asked to the sculptor (Rich) to try to make the Sciapod sculpt as close as possible to the Sticker image,
here attached three pictures showing steps of the creation with the final shot that show you this REAL MASTERPIECE!!!

ENJOY

Would say top position. That looks more authentic since most MIMPs have it on the top half of their backside.
