Here's a little writeup I did on the Critter yesterday. Truly an awesome figure. And I'm so glad I got a green one--I haven't seen any of the other colors in person but I love the shade of green mine is...sort of like the OMFG exclusive LRG green, maybe a bit darker.

I loved all four of those movies when i was a kid. Rolling balls of spiked death as cute as they were evil. Sadly gremlins seemed to get all the attention and toys.

Until now.

Thanks to the inspiration of the awesome movies and also to Eric Nilla for being willing to turn my sculpt into a ball of evil bouncing rubber my creation is ALMOST ready. Still working on the packaging so THIS post isn't about THESE...



This post is about what happens when you mix radioactive green glow in the dark putty with a lime green Crite and a hand sculpted egg based off the second movie.



I won't be making any more of these Bad Eggz Critters because they take too damn long and knowing that you need to SMASH the egg to get the toy is kind of harsh but i had a lot of fun with this one.

There will be more for sale on Friday at 1PM pacific in a couple online blog shops. Lee at bigmantoys.blogspot.com made some awesome resins colors with painted plastic eggs and TruTek at man-e-toys.com made some wonderful rubber versions in solid and mixed colors.

Yup if you are around anytime near the drop a flesh would be easy to grab. Most colors will be limited to around 5 of each with some having even less then that.

Personally i am dying to get my hands on some of those rubber mixed neons and a sparkly aqua resin for my collection.

There will be no red at all in rubber or resin. For that color you need to consult Eric.

You (PlasticSoul) designed these little Critters right and they've been produced by Eric (Enilla) but these mixed and glitter ones are produced in the UK!?!? So you've forwarded some casts or the rights of casting this figure to someone else beside Eric?

Anyway I've been on the edge a couple of time ordering one but I managed to keep balance so far, but now there's one out there in that mixed color group shot that I'd love to get. Is there any way to order that Blue/Flesh mixed one on the right side of the upper left picture!?
That one is truly awesome!!!!

If anyone can help me with info on how to take that one down please let me know!

I have a red crite, and my daughter has a neon green one. They are actually pretty fun to bowl with.

Yeah I cast up the originals, then now he is having some other guys in the UK do two different castings of more figs...

what a dick huh~? I can't believe this guy.

Actually, they were designed by Gregg Fonseca and Phillip Foreman...

And out of curiosity, you don't have to answer, but was that the original arrangement?

Ok story time!

When i first asked Eric about molding and casting something for me he totally agreed even though i hadn't sculpted anything yet. All he wanted was his materials paid for and a tiny bit for his time. Then the figures would be mine to keep or sell or eat. He even said the molds would belong to me when i had enough figures. He just wanted me to enjoy how awesome it felt to have a toy made.

Once my sculpt was done and he started popping some out he really liked it and asked if he could have an exclusive color to sell himself. Again he ASKED cause he's awesome and didn't want to make money off my creation without my permission. I agreed of course. About that time i showed some off here and people really liked them and started a list. Eric was way too busy to start a Critter factory but he didn't want all you cool board members to miss out so he agreed to make a BIG double batch for me just as cheap as before(i paid extra even though he never asked for more at all). After that batch he was pretty sure he was done with Critters for good besides some red ones cause he is so busy and the way i sculpted these makes them tear silicon really easy.

Meanwhile at OT people were asking for a resin version constantly and we all know Eric won't ever mess with resin cause he hates it so i ASKED if he would care if someone else made some resin ones and he didn't mind at all. I mean, he literally makes NO money off what i sell so it doesn't affect him at all anyway. Then me and Lee from bigmantoys were talking to trutek about getting a specific resin color in his shop and he asked if he could try making one in rubber and i said sure. He ended up liking his attempt so much he wanted to make more to sell.

At that point i specifically told Eric if he had any problem with other people making more i would cancel it all no problem. He said he didn't mind at all and was glad more people would get one and he was happy i was having success with my first attempt at a mini-figure. \

So while it may LOOK like i switched up and got someone else to do it in reality someone is just picking up the job after Eric was done with it. If he had the time to keep making Critters he would have but really he was just doing me a big favor and it would have been unfair of me to keep pushing him to make more. I am sure he has more fun making and selling his own stuff and makes actual profit that way while i was just eating up lots of his time pretty much for free.


So that's how it went down pretty much.

One day.... when you least expect it.... Eric will ask you for something.... as uncomfortable as it is you will agree cuz he's just that nice of a guy...































don't believe him when he says "just the tip" though.

Yeah I'm cool with it. Not a big deal with me considering the situation.

If it was anyone else in a different situation i probably would have called them out on that shit. Its just bad business, especially for a caster.

Yeah, got a marbled one and am happy. Budget is tight these days otherwise would have liked a solid Neon Blue one too!
